Reuniting Remnant

I, Silva Zelretch Branwen, am going over some tests for both Terra Wulf and Summer Rose on their physical ability. So far, it looks like they are back in fighting shape, and from my mental probes, their minds are fairly stable. All in all, it's time for them to get used to living relatively ordinary lives. Summer has her family and friends, but Terra does not have anyone but his team as he was an orphan in Mistral, but they died when confronting Tyrian. He kept to himself and did not speak unless spoken to. Even the elder Rose could not connect with him despite their shared suffering.

I had a few ideas for him, but for now, I need to make some arrangements first. I then told both of them the good news.

" Both of you now have a clean bill of health. Both physically and mentally, so all that is left is to decide what to do next."

" I want to see Ruby and Yang!"

Summer pleaded, and I responded.

" I will bring them over tomorrow; for now, get some sleep. Terra, a word."

The elder Rose got the message and left us alone while practically skipping, and I focused on the wolf faunus in front of me. He shifted uncomfortably and asked curtly.

" What?"

" Is there anything you wish to do now that you have healed?"

" I don't know..."

I nodded in understanding and made him an offer.

" Currently, the Menagerie has an R&D facility that I started up there to make the lives of the faunus brighter, and I would like to ask you to become the chief of security there."

" Thanks but I-."

" I am not offering this out of pity, Terra. I want you there to continue your treatment."

He looked at me and said.

" But you said-."

" Yes, you are cleared for discharge, but you don't have anywhere to go or anyone waiting for you. With Menagerie growing and rising to eventually become a proper nation, the faunus community there has expanded, and you need to interact with people and not wallow in your mind. Meet some people, get angry with a*sholes, make friends, or even fall in love; this is what you need to move forward. Not some medication to suppress your negative emotions but connections and bonds to help you up when you fall or pull you forward if you get stuck.

Terra, one thing I believe in is that true kindness is not indiscriminate and fleeting but dedication toward uplifting a select few. I have chosen to help you get a fresh start and to move beyond the darkness that haunts you, but it is your choice. Either accept my help or wallow in solitude, as I respect your decisions even if I disagree with them. You are your own person."

Terra looked lost in thought as he processed what I said—a minute ticked away before he asked.

" Can I think on it for a bit?"

" Take all the time you need, Terra."

I left the wolf faunus alone and made my plans to bring Yang and Ruby over. I quickly found myself in the dorms and went to knock on Team RWBY's door. It was Yang that answered the door.

" Hel-. Oh, it's you. What do you want?"

" Your mother wants to speak to you and Ruby tomorrow. Are you free?"

The blonde pun maker arched an eyebrow before asking.

" What does she want to talk about?"

" That's up to her, but probably to see how you are doing, if I am guessing."

Yang shrugged as she answered.

" Sure, Ruby and I will swing by. We just head to your room, and you portal us over?"

" Yep. See you tomorrow, Yang. Good night."

" Night."

The blonde closed the door after wishing me goodnight, and I went to my dorm room to call it a day.

Another weekend morning graced Beacon Academy as both students and professors woke up. Yang and Ruby were already up and about as they went to Silva's dorm room to see what Raven wanted.

" Yang, any idea why Raven wants to see us?"

" I'm not sure lil sis, but it's probably not important as Mom is, well... Mom."

The two sisters soon reached Silva's dorm room, and the blonde knocked first. Cinder answered the door and asked casually.

" Yes?"

" Um, Silva said-."

The little red reaper was interrupted by the sound of Silva's beckoning.

" Come in, Ruby, Yang."

The fiery woman frowned as she was not informed about this visit but kept quiet as it was not her business. She moved out of the way so the sisters could enter, and the snow leopard man greeted them.

" Hey, glad you can make it. Are you ready to go?"

Silva opened a portal, much to Cinder's surprise, as she had never actually seen him do so before despite the months of sharing a dorm room. This made the fiery woman annoyed as, despite making connections with Vale's underbelly, she had no new knowledge of Silva aside from what she had already learned from her own observations. The snow leopard faunus gestured for them to go first, and after they went through, he followed through and then closed the portal behind him.

" So, where is Mom?"

Yang asked, and Silva replied with a sly smile.

" Right, this way."

He led them to one of the rooms of his Forever Fall Manor and opened the door for the sisters. The blonde went through first and said.

" Hey, Mom, what's-?"

The sentence died in her throat, and Ruby then came around her sister after seeing her go silent so suddenly.

" What's the matter, Yang?"

The little red reaper followed her sister's line of sight and stood stock still as she saw her mother, Summer Rose. The elder Rose smiled at her daughter as tears filled her eyes as she called out to them.

" Ruby, Yang."

"Mom!"

" Mommy!"

Ruby used Petal Butst to tackle her mother with a hug as she cried out. Yang mechanically walked over to her stepmother and asked in disbelief.

" Is it really you?"

" Yes, Yang, I am here, and I am not leaving the both of you alone again."

The blonde then tightly hugged the mother that raised her as sobs escaped her. Silva closed the door behind him to give them privacy.

After lots of crying and hugging between the reunited family, they started to talk at length about what happened and what to do next. Ruby asked the question that plagued her for years.

" Mommy, why did you leave us?"

Summer had a bitter smile as she answered.

" I left because I thought I was doing what was best for us, but I made a mistake that cost me being separated from the two of you all these years."

" What mistake was that, Mom?"

Yang asked, as she also wanted to know, and the elder Rose sighed before answering.

" I chose to fight someone who was threatening our family, thinking I could beat them, but ultimately I lost."

" Who beat you, Mommy?"

At the younger Rose's question, Summer was put in an awkward situation as she did not want to tell them anything about Salem in the slightest, so she kept her answer vague.

" Someone very powerful and cunning that I made the mistake of underestimating them. However, they have been dealt with, so there are no more worries there."

The sunny little dragon then asked.

" Why are you here, Mom, at Silva's place?"

" That's... A long story that I am not ready to tell just yet, but I will tell you about it later when I feel like you can handle it."

Yang did not look pleased with the answer but kept silent as she saw her stepmother briefly shiver, and that unnerved her. She saw Summer as someone truly strong, but to see her shiver like she was deathly afraid only made the sunny little dragon more concerned for the mother that raised her. Ruby did not notice as she was too happy to have her mother back and said.

" Wait till Dad hears your back!"

Yang winced as she knew that Taiyang was dating again as he moved on and that he had sworn off being with any Huntress after both Raven and Summer... Left him. The elder Rose put a damper on her youngest excitement.

" Ruby, it's best if we keep this quiet for now, as it has been 12 years going to 13, and Tai, your father, has already accepted that I was dead, and just popping back into his life at this stage would hurt him more than anything."

" But Dad, he missed you a lot."

" I am sure he did, my little rosebud, but again my reappearing in his life would just open up old wounds that had healed."

Summer told Ruby with a bittersweet smile, and Yang had a foreboding feeling as she asked.

" Mom, are you and Silva... Together?"

" What gave you that idea, Yang? Of course not."

The blonde sighed in relief, but the younger Rose asked.

" If you and Silva did get together like him and Raven, Mommy, would that make him my dad too? Wait, is Silva, Yang's dad too!?"

" ABSOLUTELY NOT!"

Yang bellowed in denial as she rejected the idea. Summer could not help but chuckle at seeing her rambunctious daughter blushing and Ruby asking so innocently. The blonde pun maker complained with a grievance.

" It's not funny, Mom!"

" Sorry, my sunny little dragon, but Ruby does have a point since Raven and Silva are together?"

Yang groaned as she buried her face in her hands, and Summer then said, with excitement.

" My little rosebud, I heard that you are attending Beacon two years early, and Yang, you are on the same team as her, so tell me everything. I want to hear everything that I missed in your lives."

" Sure, Mom."

" Of course, Mommy!"

Yang and Ruby began to regale Summer with their misadventures and their life at Beacon.
