Chapter 4: Cilan and Adventure
It was then when the alarms went off and we ran outside towards Tepig. Although Tepig ran towards the room Team Rocket was in. I flared my aura and Tepig came racing towards it. (Tepig) Ash! I am ever glad to see you! Why are we like this? I flared my aura again as I pet his head and he evolved in to Pignite. I caught him again, growing closer to my complete team. After the detour we got back to the battle we nearly started. Don George was excited to see what I pulled out next. I couldn't disappoint, Wingull/Magikarp: I choose you! I'm not quite sure what just happened, but my pokemon are evolving much faster than my previous life. The kid I was standing across from (RB) Simisear/Pansage: Let's do it! Magicarp: Bounce, Wingull: Air Cutter! (RB) DODGE IT! Not today sunshine, WATER PULSE! Both Magikarp and Wingull unloaded the attacks simultaneously.
The explosion outshone the sun for a moment. Wingull: AERIAL ACE! Simisear: Use Fire Blast! Intending to roast my karp, he unleashed a star shaped flame at Magikarp. I grinned, PUSH BACK WITH DRAGON BREATH! Magicarp is in no way a pushover. However, Simisear is a fully evolved pokemon and little by little, Dragon Breath was pushed back. The attacks exploded almost directly in front of Magikarp. My poor little buddy got sent end over end until he hit the ground. He then slid a few feet before letting out an enraged cry. KARP MAGIKARP! Yeah! Use that anger buddy, stay sharp. Magikarp: Water Pulse! Wingull: Give'em The Special!
During our journey so far with rotating, we realized Wingull was powerful. Combining Aerial Ace, Steel Wing and Aqua Jet. We tried for a week and couldn't come up with a name so we just call it "The Special" essentially the Aqua Jet acted as a counter shield. While the main attacks are Steel Wing and Aerial Ace. Ash used the cloud from the explosion, to conceal Wingull. Pansage had been charging up a Rock Tomb. When Wingull appeared Pansage brought the move down. The resulting clash cause yet another boom on the battlefield. When the dust cleared Wingull and Pansage were both on the ground. Pansage was knocked out, while Wingull was inching his way back to his feet.
(Wingull) You call that an attack!? You ain't seen nothing yet! He began to glow, my second misfit water type. Another leader of his group, his wing span grew to four times. His whole body expanded and when the flash of light cleared, there was a Pelipper. (Pelipper) This is amazing, I feel so powerful now! When I scanned him he was stacked! He had nearly every egg move available. I'm very glad I caught you, you're the best Pelipper. Let's become the strongest, together! (RB) It's nice that your pokemon evolved and all but, we are still battling! We are, I said, Magikarp: Bounce, then follow it with Dragon Breath! Pelipper: Return.
As he got sucked into the ball, I said, thanks buddy, you did great, congrats. Pelipper's ball wiggled in acknowledgement. (RB) Simisear: Fire Blast again! Let's end this in at least a draw, Dig! Magicarp was being held in the air on the strength of his Dragon Breath. Watching my angry fish get pushed to a stand still was impressive. Once again the attack was pushed back at him only it didn't explode right in front of him this time.
The water pulse gave it a coushin the shock wave sent him towards the ground. MAGIKARP: Use the momentum from the fall, Bounce! Simisear came out of the ground, his timing was immaculate. He got Magikarp with a Slash right across his left side. It sent him careening into the opposite wall stuck in a small crater. (RB) Awesome! Looks like we'll break even after all.
Simisear: Finish it with Fire Punch! Damn it! Come on, THINK! Damn it! Flail? Yeah!
Magicarp must've been thinking the same thing because he started Flailing. Making his way out of his predicament by a hairsbreadth. (Magicarp) Alright, Now you've done it! I'm done with your ARROGANT ASSES! he exploded into a white light. I was excited to have so many of my pokemon choosing to evolve here. His aura is immense, what pressure, what power! Ten, Twenty, Thirty-four feet four inches. When the light dissipated there was a BEAST of a Gyarados. I had been truly curious to see his final form. I never expected to see traces of his slate gray tinged along the bases of his now golden scales.
The pearly belly, the burnt orange whiskers or the Cerulean blue eyes he possessed now. The burnt orange crest and spines, he was magnificent. I dampened my hearing with Aura because I knew *ROAR* (Gyarados) NOW YOU'RE GONNA PAY! the very first thing my angry fish was gonna do was roar. I grinned at him, Gyarados! Let's reintroduce ourselves to this guy, shall we? (Gyarados) With pleasure boss. Dragon Breath! The inferno of Dragon Fire that bellowed out of Gyarados' maw was a thing of nightmares. Simisear was caught in place scared out of his soul at the sight of the golden behemoth in front of him. (RB) Simisear! Snap out of it or we're gonna lose! Fire Blast! I don't think so! Gyarados: Dragon Pulse!
-flashback-
So Magikarp you're really strong! Your kind isn't supposed to have access to Water Pulse or Dragon Breath, especially not at your current stage. Do you have a Dragonite parent or something? The look Magikarp shot at me answered the question with out a doubt. (Magicarp) You are my trainer now, we will be together for who knows how long. Hopefully always! My Father is a Gyarados, my mother was a Dragonite.
-End Flashback -
The refractory time between attacks was almost non existent for Gyarados. That Dragon Pulse shot out of the impact cloud so fast. Simisear was blown backwards, already knocked out when he hit his trainer's chest. With one final roar from Gyarados (Don George) Simisear is unable to continue, Pelipper and Gyarados take the match! (RB) DAMN IT! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! How the hell did you beat us!? I'll give you the short answer I said as, Gyarados: Return. I looked him in the face, you're a dick to your pokemon. I've met your type before! Change your attitude about how you interact with your partners. Before you end up abusing them, if you haven't already. I let my own aura leak out, I don't play well with pokemon abusers!
The kid left in a hough, Don George made a mental note, to have him watched at the Battle Clubs. I have one more team I wanted to give a shot to. Then we'll be out of your hair Don George. (Don George) Ohh! That's quite alright Ash. You've given me a treat I haven't had here in quite some time. A truly strong trainer with lots of strong partners. A girl walked in right after he said that. (RG) Don George? I'd like to try, except my Oshawott was born a week ago. PERFECT! I said, do I have a battle for him! Cloud/Toad: I choose you! Her eyes grew giant hearts in them. (RG) Soo cute! I love Politoed, what's that pokemon? Oshawott/Luxio: Show off for the crowd! Oh, Cloud? He's a Piplup from the Sinnoh Region.
(Tina) So, I'm Tina from New Vema town. I take it Piplup was also born that long ago? You bet, a perfect match up for Oshawott. Oh, Cool you have a Luxio, Luxray is an awesome pokemon. I'm really good at battling from a disadvantage, I thought.
Ladies first I half bowed to her, let's see what you're made of. (Don George) This will be a double battle, Battle Start! (Tina) Luxio: Shockwave, Oshawott: Water Gun. Cloud: Metal Sound, Toad: Water Pulse. Cloud: get in close and use peck. Toad: Double Slap, Follow it up with Focus Up Punch! I worked out that my pokemon were both capable of, and willing to combine moves. This was just one example of the bond we share.
Water Pulse and Shockwave broke even, that was incredible. That Luxio won't be taken lightly, be strong Toad. Cloud: use Pound. I know that at one point Toad had been abandoned by a trainer. But here at Ketchum's home for broken pokemon, we specialize in bringing out the latent power of said pokemon. While showing them the love and friendship they were seeking. Politoed had at one point been transferred, and that unlocked a bunch of moves for his arsenal. (Tina) Luxio: Thunder! Oshawott: Razor Shell. Alright let's do this! Toad: Break it up with Hyper Voice, Cloud: Use Peck and Metal Claw to defend yourself! It was actually cute to watch Oshawott and Piplup battle. Their power was so limited by their age and experience.
While Cloud and Oshawott clashed, Toad: Dig! Follow it up with Mud Shot. Jump! Dodge the stream and use Drill Peck! Piplup shouldn't have access to this move yet. But eggs are eggs, and Cloud learned it from watching his parents use it. His grandfather was a Steelix, so his Steel Tae was very strong. I was aware of what TM's my pokemon could learn and I had a permanent TM in my possession. It's the one I used on Gliscor, Toad: Push back with Giga Impact! I used the TM while we were at lunch. The energy should protect Politoed from the recoil damage of Wild Charge. *BOOM* the impact of the older pokemon stopped the little ones, they could only stare slack jawed. (Tina) Oshawott: Razor Shell again! Cloud: Metal Claw, don't let him in! His little wings began to glow in a different manner, it took me a few seconds to realize. I think Cloud just learned Steel Wing! I grinned, Cloud: Steel Wing!
The visible smirk on Cloud's smug little beaked face was priceless. He shifted his weight with out breaking stride, and his wings shone brighter than before. Try as he might Oshawott couldn't keep up with a dual wielding opponent. The Steel Wing attack sending him skipping across the battlefield. When the smoke cleared there was a heavily damaged but still conscious Luxio, and a knocked out Toad. Tch! Toad: Return, You did very well my friend. I like the way you fight, thanks, take a nice rest. (Tina) Luxio: Return! And then there were two, Cloud: lets show them your other egg move.
Iron Head! (Tina) Oshawott: Use Aqua Jet. Cloud: Whirlpool. Oshawott was caught in the Whirlpool, Cloud: Finish it with Iron Peck! With Iron Head still active Cloud's beak lit up in a Peck. Try as he might Oshawott simply wasn't as good a swimmer as Cloud. There was an explosion of water and Oshawott fell at Tina's feet in a loud wet *PLAP* (Tina) Awww man! That's a new born!? WOW he's gonna be a real powerhouse when he grows up. Thanks Tina, we appreciate the compliments. Oshawott has tons of potential, don't let up,he'll grow up to be a powerful Samurott, watch!
Her eyes lit up (Tina) ya' really mean it!? I hope so, he's so cute and I hate for him to be hurt, but battling is a tough sport. Thanks again for helping us develop Ash, Cloud. We shook hands as we left our separate ways at the doors of the Accumula Town Battle Club.
-Cilan's Return-
Finally walking through the streets of Striaton City Iris and I felt the familiar auric presence of our old friend. While Cilan was being overly excited meeting a Pikachu for the first time. I flared my aura and returned his memories. When he finally stopped and just stood there silently holding Pikachu. He frowned at the implications but ultimately smiled, happy to be seeing us again. (Cilan) So Ash? You plan on challenging the Gym again? You bet! Little did Cilan know I had a big surprise in store for them.
-Striaton City Gym-
Chilli, Cress, and Cilan ran through their spiel like last time. Cilan played along because he wanted to know what I would do. I let everything play out the same until we got to the challenge. I put a hand up, Let me stop ya' right there! I came here to challenge this Gym. I now understand there are three of you and you are all related. I came here to challenge the Striaton Gym, so right here and now I challenge the three of you to one Triple Battle. Winners take all! Cress saw the emblem I had on display since I wore it attached to my hat. NO WAY! I saw the news about it, and they said the guy would be traveling through Unova. But to actually have you here in our Gym!
You're Ash Ketchum from Kanto, right? That is definitely a Pikachu on your shoulder. We have the Frontier Brain of the new Battle City in our Gym. I scratched the back of my head, after all these years I still get nervous. Yeah, that's my place. How do you know about it? (Cress) I follow the Kanto Battle Frontier battles. They have some amazing battles, and their frontier brains are at least elite four level, if not stronger. (Chilli) Ohhhh! I've watched some of those with you. So, you're with that organization?
Yeah, I said, I won the whole thing a couple of years ago. After that I was offered a position as a Frontier Brain and I finally accepted it.
(Cress) Well seeing as it's like that, I think we should accept your challenge. (Chilli) Are you prepared for a battle like this? Worry about your own pokemon, you'll need it. I said in return, Cilan, You should probably figure out strategy. Your opponents for today are from Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh respectively. I threw up three balls: Quillava, Crawdaunt, Torterra: I choose you! All three boys took a step back. You're really serious about your challenge, aren't you Ash?
Oh yeah! It's too late to back out now! Call out your pokemon so we can proceed. (Cilan) Well boys, it looks like Mr. Ketchum won't be accepting no for an answer. It's battle time! My partner for this bout will be Pansage, (Chilli) Pansear: Let's heat it up! (Cress) Panpour: Let's end this quickly. Now, according to league rules. Since I challenged your Gym I get the first move. Quillava: Flame Thrower, Crawdaunt: Bubble Beam, Torterra: Stone Edge! As the attacks spread out the stones caught fire and the Bubble Beam was everywhere the flaming stones were not. Putting all three simians in harms way. (Chilli) Pansear: get out of there! Dig!
(Cilan) Defend with Bullet Seed, (Cress) Panpour: *snap* Water Pulse. Now Torterra! Razor Leaf, cover your partners! Crawdaunt: Dig, Quillava: Smokescreen! CRAWDAUNT FLUSH HIM OUT: AQUA JET! (Cress) Panpour: defend yourself with Aqua Tail, (Chilli) Pansear No! Fire Blast! Crawdaunt was fast in the ground. He was almost within claw's distance from the fire type. When he heard Ash's voice. Crawdaunt exploded into a Battering Ram of Water and pushed the ape into the air. At the apex Crawdaunt withdrew and let Pansear fly up a bit further. Just far enough to hit it with a Flame Wheel: Quillava! Sending Pansear into the path of Pansage's Bullet Seed.
Right along with Torterra's Razor Leaf which was firing at the same rate of speed. PANSEAR NO! *BOOM* Pansear was flung into one of the side walls of the Gym grimacing from the impact. (Pansear) Damn it, that one really hurt, I'm getting mad! Pansear pushed himself out of the impact crater. (Pansear) No! Just because he's some hot shot from the middle of nowhere, we're supposed to bow to him? He stomped his feet a few times before he shone brightly. The flame of evolution already changing him. The feet stomping continued even after the the light cleared and what came barreling out of the dust was a flaming Simisear in a Flame Charge.
(Chilli) Awesome Simisear, you evolved! Let's heat things up buddy. Use that Flame Charge! Quillava: Push back with Flame Charge. (Cilan) Pansage: Use Rock Tomb! Torterra: Rock Climb! The hasty Rock Climb and Torterra's speed, made for the first loss of the match. Iris was left speechless watching me hand the three Gym Leaders their behinds. (Ref) Pansage is unable to continue Ash and Torterra take a point. I'll be a nice guy, Torterra: Return. Pansage: Return. Are you two ready to continue? I asked Cress and Chilli. Simisear was roaring to go, and Panpour was just as ready. Alright, let's turn it up a notch! Crawdaunt: Dark Pulse, Quillava: Eruption! (Chilli) SIMISEAR: FIRE BLAST!
(Cress) Panpour *snap* Use Water Pulse and follow it up with double team. Eruption ate right through the Water Pulse like it wasn't even there. Dark Pulse and Fire Blast broke even with a *BOOM* the Double Team is the only thing that saved Panpour. I grinned, the end of the battle was almost at hand. That's when Chilli and Cress switched gears on us. Their focus was on Quillava, a hasty Dig and a newly unleashed Ice Punch. Had Quillava grunting frustration, not quite angry enough to go off. Those two were pushing! Alright, break it up! Crawdaunt: Dark Pulse. He opened both claws sending beams of dark energy, forcing them away from Quillava.
Crawdaunt: Crab Hammer, Quillava: Aerial Ace! My boys took off and Crawdaunt knew exactly what to do. Keeping speed with Quillava he stayed low and fast. (Chilli) Simisear: FIRE BLAST (Cress) Panpour: HYDRO PUMP! Crawdaunt scuttled right underneath the flame construct. Quillava disappeared in what looked like teleportation. In unison Simisear and Panpour hit the ground unable to continue. In imitation of how Ash won against Tucker. (Chilli/Cress) BUT HOW!? (Cress) Awe man! You really are the real deal. Thank you for engaging us in a most delightful and robust battle! (Chilli) The flavors you produce are vintage and exquisite.
I hope the rest of your journey goes like this Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town. I shook their hands and they handed me the Trio Badge.
On the subject of Battle City, I have not actually taken control of it yet. Scott is actually having the facility delivered in Nimbasa City. I'll probably be using it to get around after that. After meeting up with Cilan at the Pokemon Center. We headed out towards the ruins following Muna. I had avoided Team Rocket until now. (James) Looks like we'll get our chance at the world's most powerful Pikachu once again. Not on my watch! I threw a ball GYARADOS: HYPER BEAM! (Jessie) When the hell did the twerp catch a Gyarados!? *BOOM* (Meowth) Dis' isn't over twerp! They exploded into secondary clouds of smoke, escaping on para sail devices. Leaving Striaton City just barely outside City limits and *Flash* Celebi appeared holding the leg of a Sawk. (Celebi) Chosen One, it IS you! Lord Arceus tasked me with acquisitions for your team.
Since we are in Unova I figured one of their strongest Fighting Types. He has agreed to my conditions but only if you battle him. (Sawk) Are you really Lord Arceus' Champion? You don't appear very powerful to me. Using my aura I said, Celebi? Can you find Lady Meloetta? Ask her if she remembers Ash Ketchum. (Cilan) WOW a Celebi and a Sawk! Ash does thos Sawk want to battle you? He seems to be getting impatient here. I've been meaning to use you, I said to his ball, as I threw it. Macho: I choose you! My now healthy Machop ready to go (Macho) is this our opponent? Sure is, he's strong! Stay on guard! (Iris) Be careful Ash! Macho: Bullet Punch Sawk simply parried all of Macho's punches. MACHO: Focus!
Breathe: Low Sweep, High Jump Kick, finish it up with Mach Punch. Sawk dodged Low Sweep and Kicked Macho in the face. Macho was getting frustrated, I could tell. But he wasn't showing it just yet. Sawk caught Macho in Close Combat and sent him flying into a tree. He tightened his belt and made to walk away. When Macho stood up, he had an eye closed wincing, teeth gritting. Finally showing his ire at being knocked around by Sawk. To Sawk's dismay this unlocked Focus Blast for my little warrior. That ball of energy woke Sawk up, no longer underestimating his smaller opponent.
Alright Macho: Low Sweep, Cross Chop, Seismic Toss. Sawk's retaliatory Karate Chop was parried by Macho's Cross Chop. Sawk jumped back to create space, Alright Macho: let's do some boxing! Dynamic-Bullet Punch and don't stop! I had some cool footage stored that I wanted to show Prime Ape if I ever got him back. Until that becomes something feasible, I showed the footage to Macho instead. Karate Chop, Brick Break, Rock Smash, Close Combat. All kept at bay with Macho's cross-training in boxing technique. Minimal body shifting and precise strikes, had Sawk angry that he was the one defending. Full tilt Macho: Mach Punch! Finally landing a solid hit on the larger Sawk.
The Double Kick in response was painful and enraging. (Macho) Damn it! I could've finished you already. Grinding his teeth Macho punched the ground cratering it. His eyes glowed brightly and he exploded into a brilliant light. When the light dissipated there was a Machoke in place of Machop. *Examining his own hands and new size* (Macho) Now let's see how you fare! Hey boss! I have a few things to show you, can I? Do it Macho, make it good! Bullet Punch activated on his left fist it then promptly sparked violently with electric tae. Dynamic Punch activated and his right fist, then flared to life in a Fire Punch.
That's awesome Macho, you evolved!
Macho then rushed Sawk nearly twice as fast as before. Now on equal footing, breaking into Close Combat right before striking. (Macho) Elemental Combat! He made sure to finish with Thunder Bullet Punch. Knocking Sawk out, Pokeball Go! The ball absorbed the unconscious Sawk and immediately *Ding* I fist pumped YES! We caught another powerful friend. I called Professor Oak and asked to borrow Bulbasaur for a few hours. I didn't tell him and he didn't know who we were about to meet again. Bulbasaur was also unaware that I knew his relationship to her. Traveling through, the area Bulbasaur's Pokeball burst open. One specially colored Solar Beam later, Snivy came walking into the clearing we were in.
Eyes huge, unable to believe she was seeing her Trainer and her Mate. She walked into the clearing apprehensive. (Snivy) Ash, Saur, is that really you? (Bulbasaur) Yeah Mama, we came back for you. It's time to conquer the Unova League! Hey girl, I'm glad to see you again, aren't you glad I brought your mate with me? (Bulbasaur/Snivy) How did you know? What!? You think because I seemed clueless, I didn't notice you two? Or the egg at Oak Labs prior to my older self dying. This way you get to see you child hatch, and grow!
Snivy jumped up into my arms, the empty pokeball in my hand flashed and Snivy caught herself.
OK EVERYONE, COME ON OUT! Snivy witnessed Krook, Unfeazant, Macho, Mawile, Sawk, Gyarados and Cloud come out their balls. Pignite, is that really you? Pignite looked embarrassed, yeah Snivy. It is, I returned to my previous form, she nodded that explains Krook and Unfeazant too. (Mawile) WOW brother, you evolved! (Macho) Yeah, he looked at me, he wasn't lying about what he said. Mawile you should give him that stone, what stone? I asked my fairy type. Mawile produced a Key Stone and Mawilite from his head maw. Oh Mawile! This is amazing, can I send you to see the professor? Think about it while I call him.
(Clian/Iris) What's that Ash? Mawile must have found a Mega Stone and a Key Stone.
Professor Oak picked up the call (Oak) Oak Labs, how can I help you today? Professor! It's Ash, I need to send you Mawile for a bit. He has a Mega and Key Stone in his possession. I'd like to have a glove made for me, and a special Bow Tie made for Mawile. I need all the advantages I can get, I take possession of Battle City in a few weeks, when we get to Nimbasa City. (Oak) Excellent idea my boy! Do you need any of your pokemon in his place? No, I think we should be fine for a little while. We should be meeting with Roggenrolla here in a couple of days. First, I have a Darumaka and a Venipede to catch!
I got down to his level when I spoke to him. Mawile? I have an important task for you. Professor Oak is going to have a special item made out of the Key Stone. The Mega Stone will be made into a special item for you! When it's time you'll bring them back to me, ok? (Mawile) You got it Ash! We owe you a lot, you will always have our gratitude and strength for that. Mawile too put a fist up to his chest for me. As I Returned him for transport, Macho fist bumped his brother. (Macho) I'll see you soon brother. With that Mawile and the stones left for Oak Labs. When I saw him again, I'd have a Mega Glove and a Mawile with the potential to Mega Evolve.
The Darumaka led us on a merry Ducklett chase. Eventually we ended up at the bell tower, where Darmanitan was overextending his Psychic Tae. After assisting the trio the young male said (Darumaka) Thank you Human! For helping us protect and heal our uncle. I wish I could come with you but I know you don't understand me. We were walking away when he said that. Pikachu and I stopped dead in our tracks. I turned around to look at Darumaka, and the Now normal Darmanitan. (Darmanitan) It is alright little one, there will be others. Maybe your partner is among them? (Darumaka) I doubt it uncle, I've never felt power like that before! Pointing in our direction, not being aware I was inches from where he was pointing.
When Darumaka turned to look at us again, he was shocked. Mostly because we were that close to them still. So, is that how you feel about us Darumaka? Do you think our power will mesh well together? He nodded at us, acknowledging my question. I'd love to have you on our team, you're an awesome pokemon. Anyone who would go that far to protect family, is my kind of partner! Darmanitan looked his nephew in the face (Darmanitan) it appears he can already understand your speech. You do indeed have a special human here in front of us. I think it would be foolish to ignore the opportunity life has placed before you. (Darumaka) You really think so uncle!? Darmanitan nods and pushes his nephew towards me.
(Darmanitan) This is the right path for you nephew, go and grow powerful. Be the very best! He took a couple of steps towards us and stopped to face them. He jumped at his uncle and sister and hugged them both. Darumaka then turned back to us and jumped into my arms. (Darumaka) Ok partner, I'm ready to start our adventure! With that I tapped a pokeball on his head and *Ding* Darumaka was now my partner. (Iris) How many is that now Ash? Well let's see? Oshawott, Unfeazant, Krook, Meowth, Pignite, Sawk, Darumaka. I will continue to switch out pokemon as I need them.
Iris I hope you don't mind, but I'm gonna try and catch a Emolga myself! I've needed another electric type on my roster. Emolga fits the bill just right! We were continuing further into Unova when Celebi popped in again. This time placing a strange egg right into my hands. Cilan and I couldn't recognize it but Iris was as silent as a tomb. After a few moments (Iris) How!? How do you get so lucky Ash Ketchum!? How do you have LEGENDARIES dropping off eggs to you!? That! Pointing at my new egg, That's a fucking Drudigon egg!! Not only that but, that's not any pattern I've ever seen before. Are you holding a variant!? Ugh! She said gabbing handfuls of her own hair.
We were a day removed from the events at the Bell Tower. When I got the call from Professor Oak, regarding my Mega Glove and the Bowtie for Mawile.
