7 Chapter 7

-[Blake]-

She didn't know what to do. It wasn't even her second day at Beacon and someone already knew she was a faunus.

What was she supposed to do? This was her one chance to make things different and she screwed it up already.

She heard Jaune talking to Ruby about his brother and she happened to hear which room his team resided in.

It was night and she'd snuck out of her room to find him. Which brought her to her current dilemma and the reason she was panicking.

Why wasn't he in his room?!

-[Vale]-

An orange haired man in a red-lined white suit with long black pants, black shoes and a black bowler hat knocked on the door of an apartment building.

It didn't take long for a black haired buff man to open the door, his eyes widening in surprise. "Roman Torchwick, as I live and breathe. I thought you said you didn't want to have anything to do with this kind of work."

The orange haired man smirked. "What can I say? I changed my mind, business is business after all."

The buff man showed a grin as he opened the door further, allowing Roman inside. As he locked the door behind him, a blade cut through the air, decapitating him before he even knew what happened.

Roman watched the head fall to the floor without a change in expression. A waft of smoke coiled around Roman's body, covering him completely before dissipating as Rowan's form was revealed.

He didn't know whether to feel disgusted or thankful at the fact that he felt no remorse as he killed the man.

He activated [Aura Sensor], spreading his perception around the building. 'There's a lot of people here. There's a gathering of small weak auras below, that has to be where they're keeping them.'

Humans and Faunus had aura, it was just a matter of whether it was unlocked or not. 'First, I'll have to clear the building.'

He had used [The Author] on the man he had killed. He wasn't going to spare anyone he found. Them consciously being a part of this slave operation was enough to make them as guilty as the man in charge of it all.

There were three floors and each floor was filled with goons and the likes. 'Let's just get this over with.' He thought as he sent his sheathe to his inventory, he wouldn't be needing it for now.

He dashed forward, quickly reaching a small open room filled with men and women in different attires.

"Who the hell is this kid?!" Somebody yelled upon seeing Rowan. Two armed men who were apparently the guards aimed at him, spraying bullets in his direction.

He easily cut through the bullets, quickly getting in front of the first one and thrusting his sword through the man's heart.

He pulled out his blade in time to slice through a bullet that was aimed for his head. Before the man knew it, Rowan had beheaded him with a single swing.

"Ahhh!!!!"

"Run!"

"Get out of my way! I have to get out of here!"

Chaos began unfolding as they witnessed the immediate deaths, sending them into a panicked frenzy.

Watching the scurrying crowd, Rowan raised his blade into the air, slashing powerfully in front of him as a golden arc of aura shot forward, cutting through all of them in one go.

One woman managed to duck just in time to avoid it only for her relief to turn to fear as she found Rowan in front of her, his blade beheading her before she could beg.

-[Parker]-

"What is going on down there?!" Parker screamed at one of his men who came rushing into his private office in the building.

"S-sir, there's an intruder! He's killing everyone in sight and we haven't been able to stop him!" A middle aged man said as he shook in fear.

"An intruder? Just one man is enough to make a fool of all of you?" The slaver questioned with a sneer. "Get down there and take him out or die trying."

The middle aged man paled immediately before scurrying out of the room.

"Do you think it could be a huntsman?" Parker asked seemingly nobody.

"Doubtful. Even the most volatile huntsman don't simply go on a slaughterfest before asking questions. This is someone else." A voice answered from behind him.

"Will it be a problem?" Parker asked, not at all surprised by the sudden appearance of the voice.

"Not at all."

-[Rowan]-

At this rate he wouldn't need to go and look for them. After the first wave, more of them began rushing to the floor he was on, saving him the trouble but they forgot one thing about having the advantage in numbers.

They had to be careful not to hit their own men…Rowan had no such restrictions.

His hands were a blur, cutting through bullets with his aura coated sword. He temporarily vanished from view, reappearing in the middle of the crowd as he got to work.

He quickly dismembered a man before stabbing into his heart. He dodged a slow punch, slashing through his attacker's throat.

He shot forward, weaving his way through the crowd as his blade swung and cut through flesh and bone with each swing.

His body and clothes were stained in blood that wasn't his own. He didn't know how long it lasted but as he pulled his blade from the corpse of his latest attacker, he found himself being the last man standing in a room filled with bloody corpses.

He ignored the level up notifications that popped up in his vision. He let out a sigh as he tilted his head to the side, a bullet shooting into the wood beside his head.

A whistle sounded out in the room. "Not bad. I'm impressed."

Rowan turned to the staircase where a grey haired well built man stood, his odd weapon pointed at him.

Concealing their aura was one thing that people on Remnant were ignorant about. He sensed the man from the moment he started moving while he was upstairs till he got here.

His aura was significantly stronger than that of the now dead goons.

His frown deepened as he finished reading it.

"What's a boy like you doing in a place like this? I'm sure your parents wouldn't be very happy about this." The man mocked as he walked down the stairs.

"At least I didn't kill my parents." Rowan shot back as he assigned the 25 stat points he got from his battle with the goons into INT.

Dennis' eyes narrowed immediately as the weapon in his hand shifted to its Greatsword form. "Who are you?"

"There's no point in answering a dead man." Rowan retorted as he shot forward, thrusting his blade towards the man's heart only for him to block it with the flat of the large sword.

"You're fast but you're not fast enough. I'll enjoy hearing your screams while I find out everything you know." Despite the light tone with which Dennis spoke, the look in his eyes was dangerous.

Rowan dodged into a backflip as Dennis swung the Greatsword at his head. He dashed back in, parrying the weapon to the side, his foot lashing out in a kick that caught the man square in the jaw.

He leaped in the air, avoiding a swing that was aimed for his head as he stood upside down on the ceiling using [Aura Adhesion].

Releasing the skill, he pushed off the surface, swinging his blade downwards. It was blocked again by the Greatsword but Rowan anticipated it, his free hand pulsing powerfully with aura as he smashed his fist on the weapon, shattering it completely.

Dennis only managed to jump back in time to avoid the sword that almost cut through his arm. His eyes widened in shock as he stared at the pieces of his weapon.

"Most people forget but a weapon is just that, a weapon." Rowan commented as Dennis let out a chuckle.

"If you think that disarming me will help you then you're a fool." He said as his body glowed briefly as his muscles began to expand.

Activating [Aura Augmentation], Rowan's body was immediately engulfed in a golden aura, disappearing from his position and immediately appearing in front of Dennis, his aura coated sword already pierced through the man's heart.

"Like hell I'm going to allow you power up. What kind of fool do you think I am?" Rowan questioned as he twisted the blade before pulling it out.

From what he gleaned with [The Author], he knew that Dennis' 'Bulk' semblance was a muscle enhancement type so he kept an eye out for it. He wasn't some anime protagonist who would watch their enemies power up and make the fight more challenging than it had to be.

This time, he didn't assign any of his points, simply keeping them for the moment. With [Aura Sensor], other than the signatures below him, he only felt one other signature in the building.

[Bookmark] also showed him that the lone person remaining was the man in charge of it all. He didn't waste any time climbing the stairs until he got to the top floor.

He didn't waste time searching room by room and simply followed [Bookmark] which led him to an empty office…if you don't count the person hiding under the desk.

Rowan wasn't even in the mood for a chat, gripping his blade firmly as it lit up with a golden glow. He stood in front of the desk, raising his blade and swinging it quickly, cleanly splitting the table and the man hiding beneath it.

The man didn't even get a chance to whimper as he died immediately. Rowan immediately turned around, leaving the office and descended back to the ground floor.

It only took him a few minutes to find the entrance to the basement beneath. As he descended the stairs, his footsteps echoed against the hollow wood.

His ears picked up light sobs that caused him to grit his teeth in anger. As he reached the final step, he found himself in a decently sized room filled with young faunus of different ages.

None of them looked older than 13 and the youngest looked to be about 6 years old. At his arrival, they stiffened as they tried to make themselves seem smaller than their malnutritioned bodies already were.

"It's going to be okay." He said softly for them all to hear. "The bad guys are gone."

They didn't believe him, remaining in their panicked state. Rowan moved to the faunus boy closest to him.

The boy was a fox faunus but one of his fox ears was missing. Observing him properly, he could see that it was roughly cut off, angering him further.

His eyes flickered through each of them, finding at least one injury or missing feature on each faunus. As he neared the boy, he didn't try to run away, leaving no doubt that this fearful submission was due to his forceful impairment and what he had been subjected to in captivity.

His hand glowed a golden color as he raised it to the boy's head. He hadn't tried to regrow a lost limb before so he wasn't sure how it would go.

[Aura Healing(Active)][Level 32]

The user is able to give their Aura healing properties and use it to heal others. You heal (INT x skill level)HP per minute.

••••

His INT was currently at 168 which rounded up to a total of 5,376 HP per minute. The skill was broken in its own way and he could only hope that it would be enough seeing as how [The Author] only showed HP in percentages.

He watched in slight fascination as the fox ear visibly regrew with each passing second. It didn't even take a minute for it to be completely regrown but Rowan continued healing just to be safe.

He felt the boy's stunned gaze on him as he finally let the golden glow die down. The scratches and slight bruising on the boy's body were no more.

"It's okay." He said, gently ruffling the boy's brown hair, a spark of hope filling the young boy.

"A-are they really gone?" He asked cautiously, Rowan nodding gently.

"Yeah, they're gone. Gather everyone around, I want to heal them too." Rowan said as the boy touched his regrown ear.

"Like you did with me?"

Rowan simply nodded as a happy look slipped into the boy's eyes. "Gather them around, I'll be back in a minute." Rowan said, ruffling the boy's head one last time as he stood back to his full height.

He made his way up the stairs to the top of the entrance of the basement. As he exited, he sighed as he looked over his shoulder to the side.

"What are you doing here, Father?" He asked, seeing the muscled form of Julius Arc leaning on the wall, a serious look on his face.
