33 Chapter 33: A Familiar Scene!

Chapter 33: A Familiar Scene!

Shiro and others were frantically chasing after the fleeing Minotaurs.

Minotaurs did not know how to fight in groups like adventurers, causing several of them to break away from the group and start running wildly around.

Shiro and the others had no choice but to split up and pursue them.

By the time they reached the sixth floor, only three of them were left: Shiro, Ais, and Bete.

"Bete, use your amazing nose to find it!"

Seeing that there was no monster in sight, Shiro shouted anxiously at Bete.

"Shut up! Don't treat me like a dog."

"Never mind, I'll choose a path based on instinct first. If you smell the Minotaur, go ahead with Ais, and we'll meet on the surface!"

As Bete was sniffing at a crossroads, Shiro left these words behind and rushed out.

After all, there was only one Minotaur left; even if his intuition was wrong, Bete could catch up with Ais to kill it.

The speed of arrival was more important than this issue.

Just after rushing out for a while, Shiro heard a scream.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh—!"

"This is bad!"

Shiro immediately rushed towards the source of the sound.

By the time Shiro arrived, he saw a Minotaur chasing a boy with snow-white hair similar to his, but with red eyes and an expression of fear like that of a scared rabbit.

Although the boy wasn't hit by the Minotaur's attack, the aftermath caused him to trip and roll to the ground, ending up against the dungeon's wall.

Shiro instantly vanished from his initial spot.

Tears streamed down the boy's face as he, who had longed for adventure in the dungeon, now faced death here.

Thinking of his grandfather's entrustment to him, the boy subconsciously closed his eyes.

After a moment, he didn't feel the expected pain but felt as though someone had drenched him in a bucket of warm water.

When the boy opened his eyes, he found his dull red pupils locked with Shiro's gaze.

Seeing the boy frozen in place, Shiro couldn't help but break the silence.

"Are you alright?"

The boy first raised his hands to check his chest, relieved to find no injuries.

Then, recalling the benefactor before him, he tearfully stood up and bowed to Shiro.

"Thank you for saving my life!"

Seeing the boy's sincere gratitude, Shiro felt a bit awkward since the Minotaur's presence was due to his Familia's actions; he was merely correcting a mistake.

"Rather than that, you should check your body first."

When Shiro killed the Minotaur, the boy happened to be directly in its path, resulting in the Minotaur's blood splattering all over him, drenching him in red, mirroring the color of his eyes.

After Shiro pointed it out, the boy became aware of his messy state and started to panic.

"I'm very sorry... I might stain your clothes."

"That's not what I mean... Aren't you uncomfortable wearing that? Go take a bath and change your clothes first, and come explore the dungeon another day."

"Yes!" The boy's spirit surged instantly, then quickly deflated.

"Well... uhmm, I am Bell Cranel from Hestia Familia. You are from Loki Familia, right? I think I saw you in Loki Familia's expedition team before."

"Yes, I am Torajirou Shiro from Loki Familia." Seeing the boy's surprised reaction, Shiro tried to appear as friendly as possible.

"Then... Well, I'll head back to my familia first. I will definitely repay you later!"

After blurting out this string of words, Bell ran off excitedly.

After watching the boy leave, Shiro then turned back to the two figures behind him and said, "He's gone, aren't you two coming out?"

Ais and Bete stepped out from the shadows; in fact, they had arrived when Shiro killed the Minotaur, but seeing Shiro taking action, they felt there was no need to intervene and just quietly watched from the side.

"Tch, why bother with such an insignificant character? An adventurer who only knows how to run away from monsters won't last long in the dungeon," Bete said, his tone mocking as usual.

"Eh, but you do have a keen sense of smell, don't you? You caught up so quickly; we'll have to count on you the next time we're searching for something," Shiro teased Bete in return.

"Huh? You really think of me as a dog, don't you!? Say that again, I'll kill you!"

"A ruffled look suits you even better, Bete."

"Shut up!"

Ais quietly listened to Shiro and Bete bickering.

It was obviously something that happened every day, but it was unexpectedly warm in a different environment.

Twilight Manor,

Finn led a large group of people to the entrance.

"We're back, please open the door."

The guard slowly opened the gate, and for some reason, Shiro found this scene very familiar.

"Welcome back ahhhhhhhhh—"

Loki's voice came from inside the gate.

In an instant, Shiro understood where this sense of déjà vu came from and instinctively summoned his scabbard, ready to strike.

"Is everyone safe!!! I missed you so much!!!!!!"

As expected by Shiro, Loki opened her arms and lunged towards the girls, who casually dodged, leaving only Lefiya.

Clang—

Loki bumped into the scabbard, but this time it was not Shiro who stopped her but…

"My dear Lefiya?"

Loki, who had been knocked down to the ground, rubbed her forehead in disbelief as she looked up at Lefiya, who had used the scabbard to knock her down.

"Sorry, goddess Loki, I acted subconsciously just now."

"Eh? To think... you're not lying..."

Loki was stunned; her divine power allowed her to realize that Lefiya had indeed attacked her subconsciously.

But this made Loki even even more unacceptable, being subconsciously disliked by her own child was a funny joke among the gods.

Loki sat on the ground, cross-legged, and began to think hard about why Lefiya had changed, then turned into a robot with parts whirring in her neck, staring at Shiro.

"It was you, wasn't it." The emotionless words from Loki reached Shiro's ears.

"What?"

"It was you who changed Lefiya, right?" As her emotions peaked, steam started coming out of her head, she then rushed to the white-haired boy and grabbed his collar with a force he had never felt before.

"She wasn't like this before you came... before you arrived, my dear Lefiya wasn't like this..." As she spoke, Loki's voice even started to choke up.

"Give me back my shy and introverted Lefiya-chan!!!"

Clang—

Another hit.

"Please do not trouble Torajirou-san!" Lefiya's voice came from behind Loki.

This hit might have been harder than the physical blow just now, as Loki just collapsed straight away.

"Really, why start making trouble as soon as we come back..."

Riveria, holding her forehead, watched the scene, then directed other elves to carry Loki back to her room.
