AngelSubzero - Douma's Series (S1)

For centuries, The Hasu Mountains were believed to hold many tales, the most notable being Paradise Shrine, led by a divine being known as Douma who's said to bring peace and eternity. However, a sudden climatic catastrophe changes all that with the arrival of a surreal visitor, leading to Douma being on the radar instead of the actual threat. With humanity's efforts being futile, Douma may be the only hope, for the showdown between other worlds will determine the fate of humanity. I don't own the character Douma and the pictures, credit goes to their rightful owners. AngelSubzero is also on Wattpad and Quotev. Published: November 11 2023

Chapter 12

Douma sat on his beanbag staring into space. The only thought he had was the town. One moment he was calm next moment he felt a little uneasy, it was odd for someone like him because the empty void he was never felt any worries unless provoked. Sometimes he wished he was given the ability to feel when it made sense but perhaps there was a reason; it made him different from humans his kind were always content. Maybe the time will come but then again he didn't really care much.

Thinking about his inability to connect with humans mainly since animals weren't complicated to understand, telepathic communication was always an option if things got tricky, Douma wondered if his time on Earth and the distrust towards humans made him this way. He felt different from the last time he got here, the young founder still saw the good in humans. As months passed, the true colors of individuals started to show and they treated him like any other, he remembered their harsh words and insults.

Although he was superior, sometimes words can hurt and they knew. Douma tried to help but was rarely given any form of support and acknowledgement he was just there to accommodate to these people. At some point he was disappointed in himself for always being there for these few ungrateful scumbags.

There were those who planned on taking him away like he was some kind of prized possession, some going as far to try to kill him and take over the shrine, which was impossible, he couldn't die, the young founder was made to be immune to anything. Those people would meet their fate if they tried doing such horrid acts.

Sitting there like a statue, Douma went on thinking about his struggles to find meaning to human interactions. Recalling the horrors sure made him feel something. Maybe he should try being more welcoming to people, he always was but without unnecessary remarks that might belittle someone, ever since his followers increased he had the tendency to do that out of pity.

Familiar voices snapped him out his thoughts as Mr Hanekama and Yoru arrived at the shrine in a hurry. It was surprising to still see them coming here, Douma thought nobody would even bother about the shrine after what happened. Douma felt these two were deserving of a soft spot.

"What exactly are you looking for Yoru?" Mr Hanekama asked it sounded like he was dragged all the way here.

The lady in the ash grey kimono bowed and apologized to Douma for the sudden barge, she was looking for something she had left a few days ago. It was really important.

"My keys I left it somewhere here," Yoru checked the drawers and under the table, she had the main hall to herself now, both Douma and Mr Hanekama only watched not knowing how to help they didn't really know what keys she desperately needed to find.

"How irresponsible! You left your keys here?"

"Yes Gramps I know I should've been more careful silly me."

"You better find it young lady, with this type of carelessness your children are in deep trouble! They will learn from you and repeat the cycle!" A massive argument was about to break out between Mr Hanekama and Yoru, the young founder could sense it, he was afraid to get involved because Mr Hanekama was already boiling up.

"My kids won't Gramps and you know that. They take care of each other well, sometimes I feel they'll grow up to be more responsible than me, it's true." Yoru wiped the sweat off her face this was getting exhausting.

Seeing Yoru trying to convince hot-headed Mr Hanekama reminded Douma of something.

About a few months back he encountered the 'Man in the Moon' while he was searching for stars to add to his collection before they went supernova. This being who looked to be a teen would always watch Earth from afar and it wasn't just the rotation, he could see current events unfolding with his bionic eyes, it was interesting to say the least.

When Douma saw this being he wondered if he ever got bored sitting there but he didn't want to judge him or anything maybe there was a reason behind it.

He still remembered how this being, told him it was naive to form close connections with humans. They don't appreciate anything what's the point. If it were the Man in the Moon he would have taught them a lesson by now if he was ever treated as another regular individual. Douma never trusted this being even though he was wise and wanted the best for humanity too, hunger for power was always in control of him and those who challenge him or go against his values would meet a terrible fate, however he was right about one thing, Douma's outlash could cause the livelihood of humans to crumble and when that happens, it would be catastrophic.

There were two options, live harmoniously with humans while keeping an eye on some individuals lurking around or return to the world he came from and forget about all that happened. This made Douma feel a little guilty but he tried to go with the first option which did get better, for a while.

"Winter is beautiful but it can also be deadly." The Man in the Moon's words replayed in his mind, there was no doubt his skills could be threatening if not used properly.

There was a belief that Douma would someday harness the power of all the elements, Fire, Water, Earth, Wind and Lightning but it never happened. Instead he mastered the element Ice which he was gifted with. The problem was, he never really used his ice abilities for anything besides lowering the melting temperatures in some areas.

Douma's iridescent eyes were like a symbol of the universe with the stars and galaxies floating around. It was as though he carried a myriad of universes and could just make some minor adjustments if he wanted. That's why some thought he would fully master the elements since they were important in the stability of the universe he could already reach other elements found in deeper parts of the galaxy why couldn't he utilize them and resolve a lot of ongoing problems. If he had these powers while roaming Earth, everyone would appreciate him more. Bringing some galactic materials to help humanity further would've been such a useful ability but unfortunately for Douma, that position might've already been given to someone else.

"I'm going to check the kitchen and bathroom, it's gotta be here somewhere thank goodness I tied my hair I'm catching dust." Arranging the books and items on the shelves and tables, Yoru rushed to the hallway. The whole shrine could hear the stomps.

There was silence in the main hall as Mr Hanekama went outside to admire the view leaving Douma alone surrounded by the pillows. It was the beginning of the day and there was something to settle in town, Douma couldn't let the aliens get away he had to do something immediately.
