Chapter 95
Good thing the meet and greet took place after. Though he’d sat with Jay and April in the chapel, no one had any particular reason to stare. The service taking precedence quelled any curiosity over his presence. Jay’s mother allowing Dean to sit with them was the largest blessing he’d received from her to date, though he struggled to understand why. She accepted him well enough but remained aloof. To be fair, she’d been like that with everyone for as long as he’d known her. He’d surmised she would soften once she knew he and Jay were together. He now knew why they said that made an ‘ass’ out of people who assumed.
As he studied the crowd, he caught Jay looking his way. They locked gazes. Jay stared a moment before his lips curved a little and he raised his eyebrows, a silent Are you okay?Dean performed a slight lip curl in response.
