Indifference

Ban squinted his eyes at the Enchant young man. He was about to teach him a lesson when Penelope blocked the attack for him.

"Ahh!"

*Bam!*

The young man hurled backwards at while screaming in agony. His scream stopped after slamming into the wall, unconscious.

Ban stared at Penelope as he was startled. She didn't hold back her strength at all when retaliating at the young man.

"Felix!"

A middle aged man noticed the commotion and was shocked that his son was lying unconscious on the floor and was full of injuries.

Mayor Connor stared at his daughter in astonishment. He didn't expect his daughter was a powerful Divergent. One thing he knew was that the young man named felix was an Enchant with a powerful strength equal to his personal guard, Jack. It is said that Felix has a great future because of his great talent. However, his daughter, who always being timid and against violence was thrashing Felix with merciless approach. How could he not be shock about this?

"That was.. cool." Ban pinched Penelope's cheek as he made a wry expression.

"Really? I-It was an impulse that I made that attack. He-He tried to hurt you." Penelope bowed her head like having caught stealing candies.

Ban chuckled and shook his head, "That's fine too. No one should mess on us unless they court trouble. Especially when my Little Pen is around, I feel safe by your side."

Penelope brightened her eyes as she blushed furiously. When it comes to Ban, her timid nature against enemy becomes bloodthirsty demoness, very ruthless to enemies.

Ban wondered how she became so obsessed about him.

"What is happening here!? Who injured my son!?" The middle aged man stared at the crowd with furious look.

Everyone was also puzzled as it happened too fast. They were glancing at Mayor Connor as Felix stayed by his side earlier.

"It was him."

Mayor Connor coughed and pointed at Ban. He still couldn't recognize Ban after meeting him the other day so the former put the blame on him.

Bella and her sisters stared at Mayor Connor with a frown. They clearly saw what happened. It was their daughter who thrashed the young man. However, how could they let their daughter be criticized publicly? So they glanced at Ban seeking for help.

Ban gave Penelope and her mothers and assured smile. He stepped forward and said, "I did it. He attacked me first, so I retaliated. It's my self-defense."

Rosie noticed Ban was on the spotlight and approached him. She was curious on how he will solve this issue. Her brother told her that if someone offends this man, their life would be as good as non-existent.

"You!" The middle aged man pointed at Ban with fury. He shouted, "Guards! Seize him! Make him rot in jail for injuring my son!"

Soon, Enchants surrounded the area and approached Ban aggressively intending to capture him.

Ban smirked and clicked his finger.

"Aaaah!"

Suddenly, a pressure ensued everyone like a tidal wave.

"Alert!"

Many guards outside noticed the cries of the crowd and immediately went in. However, before they could take one step, they were floored from the sheer pressure the felt.

"Ah! Wh-What kind of power is this?!"

Many ladies in the half weren't targeted by the pressure so they could only felt that something was a little heavy on their bodies. However, all of the men, officials or businessmen were kneeling to the ground. Mayor Connor was also in the pressure as he knelt on the floor with ugly face.

Ban didn't lessen the pressure. Infact, he pressed even more as he stared at the horrified faces of the men with indifference.

"Attacking a military official is a crime." Ban smirked. He continued, "However, I don't work that way. Because.."

"I kill those who threatens me."

*RUMMBLE!!* *Crack!!!*

"Aaaah!!!"

"Help!!"

Everyone felt goosebumps upon hearing Ban's judgement. Especially the guards who made a move earlier.

Ban stared at Mayor Connor with disdain. He can end the latter's life with a snap of his finger if he wants.

Feeling the stare of Ban, Mayor Connor recalled whom Ban was. Turned out that Ban was a higher ranked military official.

Penelope help Ban's arm. She has a pleading look for her father.

Bella and her sisters also look at Ban with the same request as their daughter.

Ban pursed his lips and lifted the pressure on everyone. He squinted his eyes at the middle aged man and Mayor Connor for a while before exiting the room.

Before he exited the room, he reminded the gobsmacked Rosie to get the land for him.

Ban also assured Penelope through Telepathy. He also excused himself to Bella and her sisters and promised to visit their house tomorrow.

"..."

Everyone was horrified when they saw Ban's siholette disappeared in a flash after he got out of the room.

"Who'a that young man, Aldrin? Why didn't you inform me that he's a freak? He's even a military official." The middle aged man approached Aldrin with full of sweat on his face. His knees were still trembling from the shock he receive just now. He felt like having a short nightmare. Even though he was rich businessman, he couldn't just provoke a powerful official. He guessed that his son threatens Ban and was punished instead.

Mayor Connor had the same situation. He can't even stand up on his own feet as he was assisted by Jack. He was muttering in a low voice as if he figured something important.

Seeing Mayor Connor wasn't in his usual self, the middle aged man also left the room in dismay to accompany his son to the hospital.

Mayor Connor saw Penelope. He was having a complicated look as he asked, "Is it true that he's the mysterious person?"

Penelope opened her mouth, but no words came out. She was silent before nodding her head in confirmation.

Mayor Connor took a deep breath and turned to his wives and asked with the same question.

The three sisters nodded albeit reluctantly. It was inevitable that he would know the truth in the future as the mysterious person was protecting Penelope in the dark. It was a matter of time if Penelope tell him the truth.

Now that his suspicion was right, Mayor Connor became silent. He gazed at where Ban exited before letting out a deep sigh. He ordered Jack to take him home.

Penelope and her mothers followed suit as the auction wasn't the same if Mayor Connor is not around.

Many guests also left the hotel as if they were trying to escape about someone trying to take their lives.

Ban arrived at his home. Somehow, he felt the change in his emotion again. He shook his head and decided to meditate.

When he checked the strange stone in his body, he was startled. That was because the stone has little cracks on the surface like it's an egg that was about to hatch.

The stone was beating just like the usual. However, the cracks produced multi-color rays on it.

Ban's heartbeat became fast. His blood boils for some reason. He widened his eyes and muttered in disbelief,

"This is...excitement?"
