Coiling Dragon

Quinn was working in the forge when Roark walked in and said "Pops." Quinn turned around and smiled, Roark smiled slightly and said "What are we training for anyway?" Quinn said simply "You'll all be information agents for the Coiling Dragon network."

Roark was silent and Quinn smiled as he said "Disappointed? You think I'm using you?" Roark kept his silence and Quinn patted his head saying "You're overthinking it, kiddo. I care about you and all the others, you're like my own kids.."

Quin sighed and said "Roark, do you know why I'm constantly working?" Roark shook his head and Quinn smiled "I have a heavy responsibility on my shoulders. If I can't make it then a lot of people will be let down."

Quinn crouched to eye level and smiled saying "Do you think, you'll stay here forever?" Roark shook his head and Quinn rubbed his head saying "I don't want you here forever, kiddo. I want you to go out and explore, see the world, make your own family, and live your own lives."

Quinn stood up and sighed saying "Even when you're gone, I'll still be here…" he paused before adding "Tomorrow, I'll get the Coiling Dragon network started.. I taught you everything I could. How far you can get is for you all to do on your own."

Quinn smiled and said, "I can't protect you forever, kiddo." Roark looked up at Quinn with red eyes and said "Do you love us?" Quinn looked into Roark's eyes and a warm smile formed on his face as he said "Of course, Roark. Each and every one of you are my children."

Roark smiled and hugged Quinn, who smiled and rubbed Roark's head softly. Roark turned and walked out of the forge, Quinn watched him go with a smile before going back to forging, what he was making was very special.

Roark left the forge and saw Jack leaning against the wall next to the door, exhaling a mouthful of smoke as he said "Had a nice talk with the big guy?" Roark frowned and said, "What's your problem, Jack?"

Jack held up his hands saying "I don't have one. You all do! The big guy is using you and you're just going along with it! Can't you hear what he said? He's throwing us away! Gramps was the only reason why he kept us here!"

Roark clenched his teeth and said "He gave us everything! How could you say that!" Jack sneered and said "Keep up the delusions, Roark. When we leave, you'll never see me again." before snorting and walking away, Roark shouted at his back "Then why haven't you left yet?"

Jack stopped and chuckled "I haven't milked everything I can yet. Unlike you, I'm not a moron. Wake up, Roark. There's still something he isn't telling us. I'll find out what it is." before disappearing completely.

Roark clenched his fists and walked in a different direction.

Quinn looked in the direction Jack left and smiled before going back to his work.

The next day

Quinn gathered all 15 of the kids and said "I'm sure Roark has told you." the kids all nodded and Quinn smiled saying "Each of you is special to me, whether you believe it or not. I love you all.." he paused for a moment and looked at all 15 before continuing "If you want to leave and live your own life I won't stop you, but first.."

Quinn pulled a crate over and took out 15 boxes of various shapes and sizes as he added "I made you all something." The kids looked at the boxes and Quinn handed them each a box saying "Open it."

Roark opened his box to see two one-handed war-axes. They had intricate and detailed engravings and designs on them with an 'R' engraved into the hilts.

The rest of the kids opened their boxes to get weapons with their initials and detailed engravings on them too. Each weapon was different and catered to their specific skill sets.

Quinn smiled as he watched them open the weapons, he looked at Jack, who was holding two sickles attached to each other with a chain. Jack looked at the sickles silently, his expression unreadable.

Quinn smiled and said "Now, you all have to take care of yourselves. I don't want to have to bury any of you. Whether you stay to work for Coiling Dragon or not, I want you all to live happily without regrets."

Quinn dusted his hands and smiled before getting tackled and hugged by the kids. Quinn smiled warmly and hugged them back as he looked at Jack, who was standing off to the side.

Quinn reached over and dragged him into his hug before letting them all go and smiling as he said "Now let me explain to you all what you will be doing." the kids all lined up and listened seriously, even Jack listened secretly while pretending to look away.

Quinn continued "I'm going to send you to each of the new Vulcan's Forge shops as the new owners. Your task is to build a reliable information network which will be relayed back to me."

Quinn spread out his hands and smiled warmly "Other than that, you all own the shops. Their profits go to you as well…" Quinn paused and said seriously "I don't want you all to work to death. Start a family, live normal lives, explore, do whatever your heart desires."

Quinn chuckled "Little dragons need to leave their nests and learn to fly on their own." as he poked Lucy's nose. Lucy giggled and covered her little nose. Quinn smiled warmly and Roark said, "That's it?"

Quinn nodded and said "That's it. It would be nice if you visited once in a while.." the kids giggled and Quinn added "Hopefully, you bring little grandkids with you! Hahahaha" the kids' faces turned red and they turned away saying "Dad!"

Quinn laughed and shook his head saying "Go. Craig is already waiting for you all." the kids were startled and said, "Right now?" Quinn nodded and said, "If you stay, I might just keep you here forever!"

The kids started tearing up and Quinn sighed "Don't be like this. I'm not dying, I'll be here even after you're dirt in the ground." Jack looked over and said, "What do you mean?" Quinn smirked and said "Want to find out the truth eh? Alright, let me tell you all.."

Quinn pointed his thumb at himself and grinned "Your Dad here is a dragon!" the kids all gasped and Jack scoffed, Quinn smiled and said "Don't believe me? You think these horns are fake?" he shook his head and said "I'm 1000 years old kiddo. Hahahaha"

The kids were all stunned and Roark said "What?!" Quinn laughed and said "I'll be here all the time, just come find me if anything happens to you. I will always help you." the kids smiled and each hugged Quinn before leaving.

Jack was the last one and looked at Quinn before saying "Thanks." and walking away, Quinn grinned and said "Nothing for the big guy?" Jack stopped and hugged Quinn quickly before running away with red eyes.

Quinn smiled and wiped his eyes before going back to his everyday life of forging, training, and sleeping.

20 years passed (1440)

Quinn was still in the forge, working on more weapons. Vulcan's Forge spread across the East Blue very quickly and soon spread towards the other 4 Blues. Some of the kids came back sometimes to see Quinn and they informed him of everything that was going on about themselves, the others, and Coiling Dragon.

Quinn was glad to find out that all the kids were doing well and had started families of their own as well as grew the Coiling Dragon into a monster. Quinn had information from all 4 of the Blues so far and it was growing every day.

Craig suggested getting into the black market but Quinn scoffed and said that they were doing just fine, but he allowed Craig to buy and sell weapons and information and only weapons and information.

Quinn had his own pride, why would he sell drugs and people? He was simply too prideful to go so low for an extra profit.

Most days Quinn just taught his apprentice smiths how to forge with his refined techniques. They were doing a lot of work themselves just to supply the various stores and Quinn taught hundreds of smiths before sending them to the stores as their main smiths.

Quinn still forged himself but it was mainly for the original Vulcan's Forge and for special requests that the apprentices just couldn't do. Quinn had amassed an extremely large amount of wealth, but he had no use for it. Most of it was just put back into buying materials and paying the workers.

Quinn theorized that he would have a use for it in the future.

20 more years passed (1460)

Coiling Dragon had entered into the Grandline during this time and was spreading to the New World at an incredible pace. Vulcan's Forge was sparsely placed around the world at this point. Big shops, small shops, and everything in between.

Everything was running smoothly for Quinn and finally, he heard information of a man called Kaido. Quinn was looking at the report on his desk with interest before he grind his teeth in fury and shouting "Fucking disgrace! Where is this man?!" The agent paled as he felt a heavy pressure crushing him.

Quinn looked at the agent and took a deep breath, the pressure disappearing from the agent and the blue tint in the air returned to normal as the agent took big gasps of air and said "I don't know, Sir. He's impossible to track."

Quinn closed his eyes and said, "Okay, my apologies for losing my temper." The agent smiled wryly and said "It's alright, Sir. Could you tell me what that was?" Quinn replied "King's Will. I think you know it as Conqueror's Haki."

The agent sucked in a cold breath of air as he said "Woah! Boss is awesome!" Quinn was amused and chided with a smile "Get out of here! Haha" the agent snickered and left, Quinn shook his head and there was a knock on the door.

Quinn looked up and said "Come in Timmy." a middle-aged man, who resembled Craig walked inside and smiled saying "Uncle Quinn! How are you?" Quinn smiled and said "Good, you? How's your dad?"

Timmy smiled and said, "Not bad, just enjoying retirement at home." Quinn smiled softly and said "That's good. What can I do for you." Timmy got into his business mode and said "The World Government wants to trade with us for weapons."

Quinn got serious and said "The deal?" Timmy pulled out a notebook and said "100 graded weapons a month for 20 million per transaction along with a random devil fruit."

Quinn tapped on the desk in thought before saying "Cancel the Devil Fruit and add another 10 million. I have no use for the cursed fruits." Timmy smiled wryly and said "Uncle, these fruits could help us a lot… A lot of pirates have been trying to rob our stores. While the Blues are relatively safe, the Grandline is much more difficult."

Quinn sighed and said, "What are the losses?" Timmy frowned and said, "2000 weapons in the last 5 years." Quinn frowned and said, "Why hasn't this been told to me before?" Timmy smiled and said "I already took care of it. Every store has its own guard squad…"

Timmy paused and said honestly "But Uncle if we can have a steady supply of devil fruits, they will be that much more secure." Quinn thought for a moment and said "These guards.. You came up with the idea?"

Timmy smiled and nodded, Quinn nodded and added "Since your implementation of them, how are the losses?" Timmy flipped the pages on his clipboard and said "A 40% decrease since the Wyverns have been placed."

Quinn raised a brow and said "Wyverns?" Timmy grinned and said, "I came up with the name too!" Quinn chuckled and said "Good job. Fine, tell them 20 plus a single fruit is too little. If they want a deal for 100 weapons a month, 25 million and 4 fruits are needed. The lowest you can go is 20 million and 2 fruits, okay?"

Timmy wrote it down and smiled "Understood." Quinn smiled and said "Good boy, now scram and come back with some grandkids already!" Timmy scratched the back of his head and chuckled as he left the room.

8 years later (1468)

Quinn was working around in the forge when a man in a kimono walked over and looked around before his pupils shrank and he ran to the box with the katana Quinn forged a long time ago. The man said, "Excuse me!" Quinn looked over and said, "Can I help you?"

The man said "My name is Shimotsuki Kozaburo! Do you know who forged this sword?" Quinn looked and said, "That was me." Kozaburo's eyes nearly popped out of his sockets as he shouted "WHAT!?" before rushing over and shaking Quinn's hand with both of his saying "May I know your name?!"

Quinn smiled and said "Quinn D. Kamui" Kozaburo said "A D! Excellent! I never thought I'd see another master here!" Quinn smiled and said "Another one?" Kozaburo said, "I am a master as well!" He stepped back and presented a katana to Quinn saying "This is one of my masterpieces, Wado Ichimonji."

Quinn grabbed Wado Ichimonji and unsheathed it slightly before saying "Good sword!" and handing it back to Kozaburo.

Kozaburo grinned and said, "I am from Wano, may I know where you are from?" Quinn smiled and said "Dragon Kingdom." Kozaburo gasped and said "A dragon!" he had an excited look in his eyes as he said, "Did you make this katana with the legendary Dragon Forging Technique!?"

Quinn smiled and nodded, Kozaburo looked at the sword and said "Amazing!" he hesitated before finally looking up at Quinn and saying extremely seriously "May I have this sword, Quinn?"

Quinn was startled and Kozaburo added "I can see you are no swordsman, it is simply a sin to have such a sword collect dust." he bowed 90 degrees and said sincerely "Please allow me to let it shine in the light! I will not disgrace it, I promise you this!"

Quinn looked at Kozaburo and sighed before saying "Very well." as he reached to the box and took out the sword gently. Kozaburo stood up straight and said, "What did you name it?"

Quinn shook his head and said, "It doesn't have a name." Kozaburo gasped and said "Impossible! You must name it!" Quinn looked at the sword before saying "Shi no kane." Shi no kane buzzed and vibrated violently, shaking off the dust and gleaming.

Kozaburo held it with trembling hands and muttered "The first naturally born Supreme grade sword is born!" Kozaburo held Shi no kane with both hands trembling and said seriously as he looked at Quinn once more "This means everything to me, Quinn. Thank you." Quinn smiled and said, "It's better if it's with you."

Kozaburo bowed deeply and said, "I hope that the next time you see him, he will make you proud." Quinn smiled and said, "Me too." Shi no kane buzzed and Kozaburo smiled as he said "We shall meet again if fate wills it, friend."

Quinn nodded with a smile and Kozaburo left the forge, Quinn watched him go and hummed to himself feeling satisfied. He poured all his emotions into Shi no kane after Rocco died, it was special to him because of the sentimental value, but Kozaburo was right. If it sat and collected dust, then it would just be an ornate sword, unable to shine.

Quinn was happy he found someone who could make it truly alive.

2 years later (1470)

Quinn was training with Ikari in the backyard of the forge when suddenly he heard some voices. "Ray! I told you there's a strong guy here!" another voice said "So you broke into his house?!" the voice said "Pfft! I didn't break in! This is called visiting!" the other voice said "Whatever you say, Roger.."

Quinn was amused and said "Oi! Who broke into my house!?" Ray said "Fuck, Roger! We're gonna die here!" Roger laughed and said "Who's gonna die? I want him to join our crew!"

Quinn was amused and decided to play with them a bit, he released his Conqueror's Haki and pressured the two, a blue-tinted wave spread and covered the entire forge shop. It was a good thing nobody lived there anymore.

Two men popped out from the window and fell to the ground, groaning on impact.

Quinn said "Who are you!" a young man with a straw hat slowly stood up saying "I'm Gol D. Roger! Nice.. to meet cha!" another young man with round glasses and a black goatee slowly stood up saying "And.. I'm Silvers Rayleigh… Roger's brain!"

Quinn raised a brow and increased the pressure saying "Came into my house?" Roger and Rayleigh groaned and grunted before fighting back an invisible wave exploding from them as well.

Quinn grinned and took his Haki back before saying "How can I help you?" Roger and Rayleigh blinked before looking at each other and saying "We did it too!" Quinn chuckled and said, "Wanna talk inside?" Roger grinned and said "I want yo-" Rayleigh covered his mouth and grinned "Sure."

Quinn chuckled and walked inside the house, pouring 3 drinks and sitting down at a table saying "What can I do for ya?" Roger and Rayleigh sat down before Roger grinned and said "Join my crew!"
