74 Chapter 73: Watchtower

(Roman: POV)

After Luke agreed to the deal I offered him I led him out of the room we were in.

A conference room in the Command Center.

Once we left it I took Luke to the recreation area where James and Clarice were waiting for us.

Along with Jessica who I had them collect.

Since I felt it was time for her to become a hero as well.

Not mention with the way I have things set up Jessica and Luke will end up training together.

Which might give birth to a relationship.

Since I loved their ship in the comics. They are one the best power couples I've ever seen.

Pun intended.

So yeah.

Reaching the group of three I gave a nod to Jessica. "Ms. Jones, nice to meet you. I assume Warpath and Clarice explained what I am offering you?"

"They did." Jessica replied. "And well, I'm in." She said.

"Good." I said. "Also everyone this is Luke." I introduced him.

He gave a curt nod to the group, all of whom greeted him in return.

"Well then now that introductions have been made Warpath, I leave these two in your capable hands." I said.

Since he has become the senior leader of the field team, and its commander when I am not around.

I've also put him in charge of training any new recruits.

"Right. Don't worry Roman, I'll make sure to have them in shape." James said. Putting a slightly sadistic grin on his face.

Luke and Jessica just stared blankly at James when he showed that smile.

Oh, they have no idea what they're in for.

I almost pity them.

Almost.

Leaving the recreation center of the Command Center I headed to the hangar on the fifth floor.

Once I arrived I activated my ear piece.

"Watchtower this is Sentinel, one to beam up." I said.

A second after I did my body broke apart and I was off.

[Watchtower, Geosynchronous Orbit Above Earth]

My body putting itself back together I found myself standing on a teleport pad, which I modeled after the ones from the Justice League/Unlimited cartoon, on one of my greatest completed projects to date.

The Watchtower.

Which looks exactly like Watchtower I from the DCAU. Only with weapons so it is not simply a defenseless floating hunk of metal.

During these past three years it was completed, and has become operational.

Stepping off the teleporter pad I went up to the central command station, and found Sage there.

Monitoring several screens at once floating on the air before her.

One screen showed Starfire saving a cruise liner from pirates off the coast of Somalia.

While another screen showed Roberto rescuing survivors in the aftermath of an earthquake in India.

Another screen showed Laura, Madrox, and Thurman dealing with members of a drug cartel in the jungles of Brazil.

Seeing this I nodded.

Everyone looks good.

They're doing their hero work, both public and covert, well.

Like they have been ever since the Watchtower came online and I decided to make it the Guardians main base.

For although the Command Center can fill that role just as well it is becoming too valuable in my eyes.

That's how we reached out current situation.

I walked up to Sage's side. "Everyone looks good."

"That's because they are. No for you to get involved bro." Sage said. "Besides, didn't you say the time to introduce the world to the Guardians has not come?" She asked. A playful smile on her face.

"Yeah, yeah." I mused.

Letting Sage's comments roll over me. Even though they are true.

Although I have had the Guardians take a more active role in the world during the past few years no one has yet made a connection that all these new heroes are apart of the same group.

Which I do plan to eventually reveal.

I just haven't found the right event to do so yet.

Though I do hope to get it done before the Chitauri invasion and the birth of the Avengers.

"So, how are things?" I asked. "Anything important I should know?"

"Nothing in particular." Sage replied. "So, do you think those two new recruits you picked up will work out?"

"Jessica and Luke. Yeah, I do." I replied. "They're both a little rough around the edges but I think they have the making of good heroes. Defenders." I explained.

"Whatever you say bro, whatever you say." Sage retorted.

After she did ADAM contacted us.

"Roman, Sage, I have important news. I have discovered the location of Ulysses Klaue." He said.

"Finally." I said.

I've been tracking that bastard for years but have never been able to pin him down. Even after the Watchtower went online. But now he is finally within my sights.

Meaning soon Vibraniun A will be within my grasp.

Seeing as I already have Vibraniun B.

During the past three years the Guardians and I took a trip to the Savage Lands and acquired it.

We also made some dinosaur friends and built a base there.

It was fun.

Especially since that annoying pterodactyl Sauron doesn't exist in this universe.

Now as for what I've been doing with the Vibraniun B I've been researching it.

Since it has so much untapped potential it's not even funny.

Anyway.

"ADAM what's Klaue's location?" I asked.

"His ship the Churchill is currently docked off the coast of the southern coast of Argentina." ADAM spoke.

"Thank for the info." I said. "Now, make sure no satellites have that area under survelliance except our own. No communications going in and out. I want a complete blackout protocol engaged." I said.

"Understood." ADAM replied.

He then began going to work.

"Need some backup bro?" Sage asked me.

Since she knew I was about to go after Klaue.

"No, I'm good. Just watch my back from up here and continue keeping an eye on the others." I said.

Sage nodded at my words.

Once she did I left the central command station platform and went to get ready for my assault on Klaue.

Which once I pulled off would see his stockpile of Vibraniun A mine.

Yes, all mine.

Heading to the locker room I went to change my clothes.

I put on brown pants, black shoes, and one of slightly darker than black tactical turtlenecks.

Or my tactlenecks as I like to call them.

Since even when executing a black op there's no reason you can't look fashionable doing it.

Once I was fully dressed I made my way straight to the teleporter platform and stepped onto one of the pads.

"One to teleport." I said into my ear piece.

"Right, right. One to beam down." Sage replied.

As a cultured Star Trek fan should.

Hearing her confirmation I felt the familiar sensation of being teleported.

Then before I knew it I was off to my destination.
