67 Chapter 66: Fantastic Four

Flying through the sky I arrived at where the battle between Doom and the Fantastic Four was taking place in no time at all.

Hovering in the air I looked down and observed the participants of the battle. Since blinding jumping into the fight would do more harm than good.

As I watched the four battle Doom I noted they were holding their own.

They were keeping the battle as contained as possible. The only danger to the surroundings beings from Victor's wild lightning blasts.

As they scattered all across the area, and went in the direction of the civilians surrounding the fight as spectators, I opened several magical portals within the paths of the electrical bolts to keep the civilians safe.

While I did this the four defeated Doom just like in the film.

The brother sister duo of Susan and Johnny trapped Doom in a superheated inferno. Then Reed and Ben doused him in water, supercooling the man and turning him into a life size Doomsicle.

Thus ending the battle.

So I decided it was the perfect chance to introduce myself to the Four.

Floating downward I landed in front of the new team of heroes. Drawing their attention, and the attention of all the civilian spectators, to me.

"Sentinel."

"Sentinel is here."

"Cool. Sentinel."

This and other whispers began the moment I made my entrance. But I ignored them all and just focused my attention on the Fantastic Four.

Johnny Storm in particular. Noticing that he doesn't look a thing like Chris Evans.

Good.

Because if that was the case when he and Captain America met in the future then things would've gotten awkward.

Though other than Johnny the rest of the Four look exactly like their actors from the Tim Story Films.

Walking up to the four I closed the distance between us.

"Hello to you all. My name is Sentinel." I said to them. "And I see you guys are the Fantastic Four everyone's been talking about."

"Holy shit dude, you're Sentinel." Johnny spoke.

Receiving a slap on the back of his head from Susan for his words.

"Ow sis, what fhe hell?!" Johnny asked. Turning to glare at Sue.

"Language Mr. Storm." I spoke. Drawing Johnny's attention back to me. "There are children present."

"Sentinel is absolutely right." Susan said.

Hearing us Johnny put a sheepish expression on his face. "Hehe, right. Sorry." He said.

"It's fine. Given what all of you have just been through I understand why you're not that aware of your actions." I spoke. "By the way, nice job in handling that guy. Ah, what's his name?"

I mean of course I knew Victor's name but I can't reveal that. So of course I have to ask.

"Doom. Victor Von Doom." Reed spoke up. "A colleague who lost his way." He said.

"Reed, no need to fill sorry for that tin can. Not after what he did to us. To you." Ben Grimm spoke up.

"I know Ben, but still." Reed retorted.

"Am not to interrupt your conversation gentleman but perhaps we should take this somewhere more private. Considering we are drawing a crowd." I pointed out.

When I did the Four looked around and finally noticed how the crowd around us was growing bigger.

Specifically being enlarged by police officers and media personnel.

The latter of which are snapping pictures and taking video recordings like there is no tomorrow.

Not that is matters to me.

Since even though my face is exposed no one will ever be able to connect Sentinel and Roman Maxwell.

Why you ask?

Well magic my friends.

I put a several glamour spells on my costume.

So now unless I tell people I am Sentinel they won't ever know it's me.

Ah magic, it truly is amazing.

"Right. Yes, let's do that." Reed said.

He and the rest of the Four then started making their way back to the Baxter Building.

Me following right behind them, carrying the Doomsicle.

After all, I was always taught not to leave trash in the street.

--------------------------

[Baxter Building]

As our group entered the Baxter Building, the iconic home/base of the Fantastic Four, we took the elevator to the top floor.

Where Reed's lab was located.

Arriving, I placed Doom in a corner of the room.

Once I did I went over to the others.

Where Reed offered a hand to me. "Thank you for assistance with transporting Doom, Sentinel." He said.

"My pleasure Dr. Richards." I replied. Taking Reeds hand and shaking it. Absorbing his powers and DNA in the process.

"And can I just say I'm a big fan of your work. Your theories on cosmic and extra-dimensional energy is riveting stuff." I spoke.

Which I am not lying about.

I truly am a fan of Reed's.

Now not just as a comic fan from my previous life, but also as a scientist in this one.

"Thank you." Reed said.

Why Johnny just groaned and grumbled "Oh great, another one" earning him another slap on the back of the head from Susan.

Who is quite beautiful.

I can see why Reed, and in some interactions Doom, simped for her.

I'll admit even I have. Since I saw a lot of her from the rule 34 perspective in my previous life.

This version of Reed is a lucky bastard.

Breaking my handshake with Reed I got thanks from the others.

Allowing me to absorb Susan's DNA and powers.

Though I left Ben and Johnny's alone.

The former because I am already quite and durable, and the latter because I already Sunspots powers which are extremely similar to Johnny's only better in my opinion. Especially since Sunspot powers don't require an oxygenated environment to function.

So yeah.

After the Four thanked me I asked them a question.

"So, what will you guys do now?"

"Repair the lab and the Baxter Building." Reed explained. "After that, rework on building the machine that can take away our powers."

"Reed, there's no need." Ben spoke up.

"No Ben, there is." Reed retorted. Turning to look at his best friend. A heavy look of guilt on his face.

Well it's not like I don't know why.

Out of all of the four Ben got the most physical changes due to their exposure to the cosmic rays that gave them their powers.

Which has made his life harder.

Since people are horribly cruel to things that look different from them.

"Look Reed. Truly. It's ok." Ben spoke. Putting a smile on his face. "We got into the mess with Doom in the first place because we wanted to get rid of our powers. Well I wanted to get rid of mine. So if wanting to get rid of my powers leads to another situation like that then I am fine staying the way I am. Really."

"I...Ben." Reed said.

The two best friends smiled at each other and then hugged it out in a manly way.

Me, Johnny, and Susan not saying anything as we didn't want to ruin the moment.

Soon it was over. When it was I spoke up.

"So Mr. Grimm, I think I might have a solution to your power situation." I said.

Getting all eyes turned to me.

"What do you mean?" Ben asked me.

"You see while I can't get rid of your powers I know someone who might be able to help you better control them." I explained.

See it never made sense to me that all of the other four could control their powers and Ben couldn't.

I mean he was affected by the same cosmic energy they were. So it stands to reason he should be able to control his power.

At least switch between his human form and Thing form.

Yet he can't.

As I thought about this issue I then remembered magic is simply put the manipulation of external and internal energies.

So I reasoned if science can't help Ben control his powers then the mystic arts might.

"I don't understand what you mean." Ben replied. "Look at me, what is there to control?" He asked. Pain in his voice.

"I'm not sure." I replied. Looking Ben directly in his eyes. "But just think about it for a moment. Your friends can manipulate their powers at will, so it stands to reason since you were affected by the same energy they were you should be able to do so as well. The reason I think you can't is that you just don't have the right tools at your disposal. And if you're willing to open your mind, and put a bit of faith in me, I think I can help you acquire the tools to control your powers. Though I can't say for sure if my plan will work. The choice really is up to you Mr. Grimm."

A heavy silence filled the room after I said my peace.

Ben had a blank expression on his face. While the other members of the four were looking at me warily.

After what felt like forever Ben finally replied.

"Sentinel I don't know you. But if what you are saying it true then... I'll take you up on your offer." Ben spoke.

"Ben, seriously. We just met this guy and you're trusting him just like that." Johnny asked.

"Yeah matchstick, I am." Ben answered. "Since I feel he is telling the truth."

"Ben. You know I'll support whatever decision you make." Susan spoke.

"Me too." Reed added.

"Thanks guys." Ben replied. He then turned to me. "Alright Sentinel, I'm in."

"Alright. I'll begin making the arrangements then." I said. "One last thing, what are you going to do with Doom?" I asked. Pointing to the Doomsicle.

"Turn him over to the authorities." Reed said.

"But can regular authorities handle him?" Johnny asked.

"Kids got a point." Ben added.

"If you want I can handle Doom." I spoke. "I can take him to people to make sure he is contained." I said.

The four looked between themselves, then nodded their heads.

"Alright Sentinel." Susan said.

"Thank you." I spoke. "I promise, you won't regret this."

Going over to Doom I picked him up. I then bid the four farewell but promised to contact them again soon.

After I had made the arrangements for Ben. But also to get to closer to them.

Since they're the Fantastic Four.

Who wouldn't want to get to know them?
