I ignored him during lunch, too, directing my conversation to the actors and the rest of the crew. Of course, all they wanted to talk about was the charity auction. You’d think they hadn’t done the same thing every year. J.T. didn’t seem to know how to feel about it.

“Nobody’s ever seen me before,” he said. “Maybe I’ll just wait until next year.”

Ted elbowed him. “What if we throw in an advance screening for Bart’s Big Gameas part of the package? For all of us, that is. We could show it here at the studio. That ought to drive the bids up.”

They all looked at me like they were puppies and I was eating a juicy steak. “Fine, we’ll make that part of the deal. But don’t sell yourself short, kid. People like new blood. They’ll snap you up.”
