Chapter 38

I tossed my condom into the trash, then got him a wet washcloth from the bathroom. “You want coffee or a glass of something?”

He struggled to sit up. “I think I need some vitamin B12 and about a gallon of liquid. I’ve never felt this wilted.”

“Happy to oblige, kid.” I pulled on my jeans and rummaged in the fridge for the orange juice, turning just in time to hand him a large glassful as he emerged from the bedroom fully dressed.

“You don’t look like a snuggler,” he said as I cocked an eyebrow at his wardrobe. “I figured I’d better be on my way.”

I found that I was okay with that. After all, I wasn’t a snuggler, was I? “You need anything for cab fare?”

He shook his head and downed the juice. “I’m actually pretty close to home at this point. I might just walk it off.”

I saw him to the door. “Maybe I’ll see you again one night. I enjoyed that.”

He gave me a quick kiss and left, and I closed the door, wondering what it was I was still longing for. 15: It Takes Two
