As the boy fell from the window, his view of the driveway below began to distort. Colors melted into each other but never mixed. His vision become blurry and he knew the ground was approaching.

His arms naturally straightened out towards the ground and as it got closer, he closed his eyes.

Instead of colliding with the ground, his hands merged with the ground, joining in on the other distorted colors.

His tanned skin color dripped off of his skin leaving behind exposed bone.

The boy screamed.

He looked around for help as his body slipped away but no one could hear him and no one could see him.

He screamed and squirmed, fighting to survive.

But exhaustion took over and he collapsed, his face now also drained of color.

Soon after his entire body dissolved into the colorful puddle.

The boy awoke to the sounds of two people arguing, but he couldn't see them.

"You brought in our boy? Our little boy?" said a loud, thunderous voice.

A kinder voice replied, "He's what we need right now. Not some gargantuan barbarian."

"A beast is what our world needs. Not the child."

"You see it as well as I do, you see his potential. His magic, his swordplay, and everything else."

"Potential doesn't matter if he doesn't live long enough to help!"

The two looked down at the boy below them and sighed.

His eyes began to open and he saw two bright lights. They towered over him and all he could see were their silhouettes.

The one on the right had two swords strapped to their back, long flowing hair, and thick clothes.

The left also had long hair but seemed to have several objects floating. All spherical in shape and they moved, orbiting around its head.

And they both seemed familiar.

The one on the left kneeled and spoke to the boy.

"You are about to wake up in a world unlike your own, filled with wonders you've never seen. Take care of yourself."

Then the right showed him a blue screen. Some screen with letters and numbers on it.

"You can't read this yet, but you will when you grow up," it pointed towards something on the top of the screen, "This is your name. Below it are numbers that represent you."

The boy squinted his eyes but couldn't read anything. And he started to cry.

The events that had occurred had finally caught up to him and he couldn't think. He was too young. And the two supreme beings had forgotten that.

They both shrunk in size and rushed to the child's side. They picked him up and embraced him with their warmth.

He cried for a long time. It was too much for him.

Once he stopped, the gods reconvened. Still holding him in their arms, they sat down. They both placed a kiss on his forehead.

The loud voiced spoke first, "Buddy, don't worry. It'll be just fine. I promise."

He sniffled and used an arm to wipe his nose, "Where's my mommy? Where's daddy?"

The gods looked at each other and sighed.

Now it was the softer one's turn, "We can't tell you yet. You have to be older to understand."

His tears had left streaks across his face that now distorted as his eyebrows raised and his eyes grew wide. The boy was worried.

"But I can't go. Mommy said I'm not allowed. And daddy would be mad."

"Don't worry, they know you're here. Trust us."

And one of the spheres that revolved around its head separated off and merged into the boy's body. He calmed down.

The other one reached behind it's back and took out both swords and a small dagger. They also melted into the boy's body and calmed him further.

"You and we are one. Not exactly, but..."

The child interrupted, "So are you my daddy?"

"Yes and no? It's hard to explain, but I'll tell you as you grow up, okay?"

Throughout all this and the previous talk, the little boy had understood something, "Why do I have to go?"

The two gods sighed again, "Because we can't. And someone has to go help."

The boy looked at both of them and looked around while he thought.

"Can I come back when I'm done?"

"Yes, of course. You're supposed to."

"So... so, you're my family?"

"Yes. We are."

And the child smiled.

"Okay. I can go now."
