Chapter 5 Shadow

I feel myself coming back to my senses. I wasn't sure how long I was asleep. My sore muscles felt exhausted. I'm surrounded by warmth and then I realize that I'm being carried by the Zakarian. We're both wet, the water dripping on the floor as he walks through a glass archway.

He must've left the pool not so long ago. My arm has healed, leaving a slight red patch at its wake. nothing could take me by surprise anymore. The strangeness of all that is happening feels like a dream.

I looked at his face, he looked so human with those high cheekbones and chiseled jawline. Yet, he also looked inhuman with his pale skin and ethereal green eyes.

He inclined his head towards me, feeling my gaze on him.

I decided to look away fast.

I also decided that I don't like being carried around like a child.

He takes me back to the same room I woke up in. The room that heats up on its own.

I'm all too eager to jump off his arm before he even sets me down.

I see the laughter in his eyes at my eagerness.

The room wasn't empty anymore, It was furnished with a bed, carpet, and other trinkets lying around.

However, I almost ran back into his arms at the sight I saw next. A shadow Or rather that's what it looked like. A black figure with glowing eyes the size of a tennis ball. It did not have any other features on its face. No nose, nor mouth.

It was completely black with the shape of a human and his large eyes were glowing like headlights.

I felt myself step back, my back hitting the Zakerian's body in the process.

The shadow creature took a step towards me and held out a fabric that looked suspiciously like a towel.

I feel the Zakerian's chest vibrate with laughter.

"What do you think of my creation?" He asks gesturing at the shadow human creature with glowing headlight eyes.

"You made that?" I mumble, astonished.

He takes the towel from the shadow and wraps it around me. I look back at the Zakarian and I see his body heating up. The water evaporated off him. sizzling in the air.

At that moment it dawns on me that I have no idea what this alien is capable of.

sensing my question he shows me his palm and some sort of dark energy starts to emerge at its center.

"I control dark matter. I can create and destroy as I please," he explains as if it's the simplest thing on earth. I try to hide my horror and the implications behind what he said.

Dark matter. The one thing our scientists cannot fully figure out about the universe, something that remains so mysterious and elusive, and yet this creature is claiming that he can master it? control it?

I looked at the shadow before me.

No. Not shadow, he's made up of dark energy.

"I'm assigning him to be your attendant. I would have warned you against touching him," He looks at me with a curious green gaze and continues, "Humans who touch dark matter will die immediately. However, you didn't. you survived. which is why I find you so interesting."

I think back to the time I was defending Lucy. How he tried to kill her with his dark energy. God, I hope she is okay.

"I want to see my sister," I say glaring at his tall frame.

The Zakarian smiles at me mockingly and starts to walk away. Just before he leaves he speaks.

"You're mine now Aurora so be mindful of the way you address me. It's your first day so I shall be merciful. But do not doubt that you will come to fear me soon."
