As before, his stomach churned with a roiling combination of terror and anticipation. Excitement. Even as he told himself he didn’t have a hope in hell, Lee longed for the job. And not only because of a great opportunity. Robert Dee was as handsome as the last time he’d set eyes on him. The only thing changed was his hairstyle, his last cut a little too severe. Lee preferred the lightly spiked style that looked orderly and unruly at the same time. He wanted to run his fingers through it, to mess it up.

He hadn’t expected that. Hadn’t expected to feel attracted to the man at all. He’d just wanted to see whether Robert would recognise him. James used his middle name with his father’s surname these days, but he’d half-believed Rob would sense…something. At the very least, Rob might have spotted something of Gloria—he couldn’t bring himself to call the woman who had once tried to pimp him out ‘mother’—in his features. Clearly, not.
