The next day, Ryder was in Port's class once more. As Port rambled about a story once again, Ryder noticed Jaune trying to talk to Weiss. Ryder sort of understands that Jaune likes her considering how he acted before Initiation. He then noticed how Weiss was staring at the time with a bored expression. He can't blame her; Port's class is freaking boring. Kairos sat beside him with his arms crossed. Their bond had gotten better; however, it was slow. Kairos isn't exactly mean; he seems to be the anti-social type. Which is fine, Ryder was anti-social back on Earth but thanks to Ruby, Yang and the other friends he made here in Beacon, he's less anti-social. He's still anti-social though. Eventually the bell is heard signaling the end of class.

"And then I—oh. Time that one wrong, I guess. Well, the stunning conclusion of this story will have to wait. Until next time!" Port said, dismissing class.

Ryder gets up and prepares to leave but notices how eager Team RWBY is to leave which makes him gain a suspicion towards Team RWBY. He leaves the classroom with Kairos. As Team RWBY heads off to do whatever they have planned, Ryder kept a suspicious gaze at them. Kairos noticed.

"Something wrong?" Kairos asks.

"They were eager to leave. More eager than usual." Ryder states. "they're up to something."

"Well, it's really none of our business." Kairos said before walking off.

Ryder remained though. He can't shake his suspicion. So, he heads off to grab his weapons and change out of the school uniform. Once he was done, he made his way to Team RWBY's dorm. He knew they were up to something and was curious if it had any relation to their shenanigans involving Roman Torchwick at the Docks. When he reached their dorm room, he was about to knock when the door opened. Ruby and Weiss were coming out but stopped when they saw him. Ryder gave them a look of suspicion.

"What are you guys doing?" Ryder asks.

"Uh.... nothing?" Ruby said.

Ryder narrowed his eyes and looked right into Ruby's silver eyes doubtfully. Ruby chuckles lightly in a nervous fashion. Ruby eventually caves in and sighs.

"We're going on an investigation to find out what Roman Torchwick and the White Fang are up to." Ruby said.

"Why?" Ryder asks.

"Because it's been bugging Blake ever since our fight at the docks and we want to help her." Ruby explained.

Ryder shifts his eyes to Blake who was inside the room. He then shifts his eyes back to Ruby.

"How can i help?" Ryder asks.

"Oh uh, we're not planning on involving any of our friends." Ruby said quickly.

"Seems like Sun and Neptune are involved." Ryder said casually.

Ruby looked over her shoulder at Sun and Neptune who looked at each other for a moment. Ruby sighed.

"You can come with us." Ruby said.

"Just know I'm doing this so I can keep an eye on you. If Tai were to find out about this, he'll need an explanation." Ryder said, stepping aside.

"You're going to tell dad, aren't you?" Ruby asked

"Never said that." Ryder said, giving a smile.

Ruby returns the smile before dragging Weiss away. Ryder followed them. The trio leaves the Dormitories and reaches a large tower within Beacon. The fabled CCT Tower. As they walk down the path, Ruby can barely contain her excitement while Ryder and Weiss remained calm minded. Ruby was amazed by the tower.

"Wooooow! I forget how big the transmit tower looks up close!" Ruby said.

"You should see the one in Atlas." Weiss suggested.

"Wasn't that the first one?" Ryder asks.

"Correct." Weiss said. "Atlas developed the Cross Continental Transmit System to allow the four kingdoms to communicate with one another. It was their gift to the world after the Great War."

"Oooh, look at me! My name's Weiss! I know facts. I'm rich!" Ruby mocks.

"Don't be a pest!" Weiss scolds. "Besides the only reason we're here is because you like the tower so much. We could have just as easily made a call from the library!"

"I know but it's so coool! Ooh, I'm going to take a picture!" Ruby states.

Ryder shakes his head while letting out a quiet chuckle at her antics. Ruby grabs her scroll from her pocket on her clothes, but in her rush of exciitement, she drops the scroll. It bounces along the pavement until it lands at the pair of familiar feet to Ruby. This new figure seemed as Young as everyone else. Ruby was surprised to see them.

"You dropped this." The girl said as she picked up the device.

"Penny!?" Ruby said, surprised to see her.

"Uuh." the girl, now named Penny, said.

"Where have you been? We haven't seen you since that night at the docks!" Ruby said.

"S-Sorry. I think you're confused." Penny said.

She suddenly hiccups, throwing the scroll into Ruby's hands.

"Uh... I've got to go!" Penny said before she ran away.

Ryder was confused by what went down.

"What was that about?" Weiss asks, also confused.

"I don't know but I'm going to find out." Ruby said before heading off in Penny's direction. "You go make your call! I'll mee up with you later!"

"Wait!" Weiss calls out but it's no use.

Weiss sighs angrily. She then looked at Ryder.

"Aren't you going to go after her?" Weiss asks.

"She can handle herself. Besides, this investigation is still going on." Ryder said.

"Right." Weiss said before she made her way to the CCT.

Ryder follows her. The two made it into the tower and passed the main lobby which had a green glow. They pass the main terminal and head straight for an elevator. The doors open automatically and close once the duo gets inside. Once inside the elevator, the voice of the CCT AI is projected from a panel near the door of the elevator.

"Hello. Welcome to the CCT. How may I help you?" The AI asks.

"I'd like to go to the communications room please." Weiss said.

"Absolutely. Could you please place your scroll on the terminal to verify your identity." The AI ordered.

Weiss grabs her Scroll and places it into the terminal.

"Perfect! Thank you, Miss Schnee." The AI Said.

With that, the elevator ascended the tower. Weiss's expression shifted from pleasant to serious. Ryder noticed it but didn't comment. Once the elevator arrives, the two walk into the room. On the screens of the computers was the emblem of Vale. The duo walked up to the front desk where a holographic secretary appears in the seat.

"Welcome to the Beacon Cross Continental Transmit Center. How may I help you?" The Secretary asks.

"I need to make a call to Schnee Company world headquarters in Atlas." Weiss said.

"Absolutely. If you could head over to terminal 3, I'll patch you through." The Secretary said.

"Thank you." Weiss said.

Ryder follows Weiss to the designated Terminal. They pass a few Beacon Students in their uniforms, each doing their own thing. One of them is talking to her mother asking how things are back in Signal Academy. Once they reach the Terminal, Ryder grabs Weiss's shoulder making her turn to him.

"I'll keep watch. In case someone tries to stop us." Ryder said.

Weiss nods before taking a seat at Terminal 3. She takes a deep unhappy breath which causes Ryder to spare her a gaze of concern. He doesn't know much about her, but she doesn't seem happy about this for some reason. Soon the screen lights up and the face of a short-haired brunette appears on the monitor with the Schnee snowflake-like emblem rotating behind her. The operator doesn't realize who she's talking to at first.

"Thank you for calling the Atlas—Oh! Miss Schnee! Good afternoon! Would you like me to patch you through to your father? I think your sister Winter might be here as well." The Operator said.

"No, thank you. I was actually wondering if you could find some files for me. I've compiled a shortlist." Weiss said.

Ryder looked at the entrance to the room, for some reason he thinks that at any time one of the teachers will walk through the door. Just his anxiety working. He turned back and looked at Weiss, realizing he zoned out a bit of her conversation with the operator.

"Right... very well. The data is being transferred to your scroll now." The Operator said.

"Wonderful! That will be all, then." Weiss said.

"Are you sure you wouldn't like me to patch you through to your father before you go?" The Operator asks.

Weiss's smile fades away but quickly returns.

"Yes. I'm sure." Weiss said.

"Well, then... have a nice day." The Operator said.

The call is then dropped. Not long after, Weiss's smile drops too. She can see this via the reflection on the screen. Ryder couldn't help but worry.

"Everything okay?" Ryder asks.

"Yes. Everything is alright." Weiss said, not looking at him.

This only made Ryder more worried.
