Thick Chest was originally from a tribe called Lak-hu that got absorbed into the Creek comparatively recently.

The Lak-hu tribe was fairly large, with a population of several thousand. Even so, it was just like other tribes and couldn't do much in front of the Creek's overwhelming military might. Without being able to put up much resistance, it got absorbed into Creek.

Afterwards, Thick Chest and his wife were settled in a newly-built village located alongside a river. At first, he was greatly opposed to the system of people from many different backgrounds living together in one village like this. As of now, though? He was more or less content with his current life.

'Well, at least we ain't gonna starve, so there's that.'

As long as he worked hard, he'd receive his fair share of provisions. He could then use his 'wages' to easily trade for various daily necessities.
