Chapter 8

The sound of a speeding truck roared down the main road heading towards the city, trying to get as far away from that house. Timmy began to beat his hand against the bridge of the steering wheel as hard as he could out of frustration. He was angry yet more devastated about how everything turned out. They had it. They had everything right there, but now he's running with his tail between his legs. All because of that girl. His attention now was just needing to get as far away from Elizabeth's house before she arrives at any moment. He then gauged at his gauge and saw he was going nearly 80 on the empty road.

"Damnit! Dammit! Dammit." Timmy yelled in the truck as warm tears fell from his eyes as the realization set in. He lost both of his best friends in one night. People he broke bread with. His brothers at that, but now he was alone.

"She killed them. That Bitch killed them." He thought to himself as he started to remember the fun times with them. Their last moments played in his mind of them enjoying that meal and goofing off, until that monster tossed Brando's head at him, and then Alexander willing sacrifice. He still owned him one from another close call. Using one hand to whip away his tears, Timmy concentrated back on the road.

The sound of breaking twigs along with something pushing through the bushes and trees filled the night air as a shadowy figure moved fast through the forest. They were running at full speed to catch up to the truck before it reached the city limits. Their breathing could be heard as they keep up with the sound and smell of the vehicle. Their yellowish-green eyes moved like a blur as they maneuvered through the forest, trying to stay on the clearest path. Their fingers gripped the tree and left visible claw marks on them like a wild animal. They would be on their target within a few mere seconds.

As Timmy managed to get his emotions under control, he remembered that he needed to report back to the person that paid him and his friends to attack the home of Elizabeth. He barely took his eyes off of the road as he reached down to grab his phone. He managed to grab the phone in one go as well as unlocking it. He took his eyes off to look for the number and looked back up at the road periodically to make sure he was in the clear.

"Come on. Where is it?" He thought to himself as he went through his contacts. He then stopped on the person under Mr. K. He pressed down on the number and began the call. The sound of the ring tone filled his ear as he became even more anxious in his current state. His fingers began to tap on the steering wheel as he waited rapidly.

"Is it done?" A deep male voice asked, picking up the phone.

"You goddamn asshole! What the hell did you send us into!" Timmy snapped at his employer as his eyes went away from the road.

"Did you do it?" The man's voice repeated, ignoring Timmy's attitude. He sounded neither angry nor irritated but wanting to make sure their job was.

"Yeah. We got in. But you didn't warn us about-" Timmy was cut off as he saw a figure run out in front of the truck. "Oh shit."

Timmy quickly turned the wheel, trying to avoiding the sudden person. As he fought to regain control, the truck began to turn over and flip. The truck flipped a total of 3 times before landing upside down and coming to a screeching halt. The vehicle's headlights were now pointing towards the figure.

As the sound of the radio came on and a throbbing pain came to his head, Timmy came to. He noticed that his seat belt had protected him from being sent flying out of the vehicle, even though he was far from alright. Fear came to his eyes as he remembered the figure that came into view. He quickly unbuckled his seat belt and fell onto the roof on the trunk and some broken glass. While he was in a lot of pain, he needed to get out of the vehicle and run into the forest quickly to escape. However, he stopped dead in his tracks as he realized it was too late. His eyes went wide as he saw the pair of bare feet on the pavement. He felt a sense of utter fear completely run throughout his body as the feet began walking towards him. He then noticed that the figure had dropped something. It landed on the ground with a slight ding that made the entire area go quiet. He barely could make it out, but it looked like a bracelet.

*DING*

The sound of another one dropping as the person drew closer. Timmy was trying to get his body to move, but he was completely paralyzed with fear. He could only watch as the person stopped right in front of the driver's door. He could hear the metal on the door tighten and scream as if the metal was crying out for help. He could even feel the truck moving towards the person. The door finally lost its battle and ripped open. The only shield that could shelter him was now gone, and the sudden jerk pushed Timmy towards the person's feet. Timmy heard the person drop the metal door and slowly began to look up at the person.

He noticed their bare feet were covered in all kinds of dirt and debris, but there were no visible wounds on them. His eyes then looked at the person's clothing, which was now ripped, torn in different areas, and heavily covered in dirt. He finally stopped when he was now looking at the person's face. Their long black hair covered most of her face except her deep yellowish-green eyes. A breeze came through and blew her hair out of the way to reveal their face. Utter dread and fear filled his eyes as he knew he was screwed beyond this point. He wasn't dealing with Elizabeth herself, but someone far worse. People in the underground referred to her as Elizabeth's Guard Dog because of her undying loyalty to Elizabeth and the fact if you hurt her family, she took it personally.

It was Martha Homes.

Her lifeless eyes stared back at him like daggers. Although her face barely showed any emotion, her eyes gave Timmy enough to know he was not leaving alive. She didn't say a word as yellowish-green energy poured out of her body. His eyes went wide as he was one of the fewest people to see what happens when they target the people she loved as her shadow began to morph.

"Oh, God. Please No! No! NOOOOOOOOOO!!" Timmy began to scream bloody murder. The only person that could hear his scream was the person on the other side of the phone.

The person on the other side of the phone hung up to stop the bothersome screaming. He placed the phone back on its tray as he reached next to it and grabbed his glass of red wine. A smile crept across his face as he looked out from his building that overlooked his city. A small chuckle filled his mouth as he took a small celebratory sip as soft music played in the background.

"Now it began." Mr. K. said in a callous tone. He was in a luscious black 3 piece suit with a gold watch around his wrist. He raised his glass for another single toast. "Soon, I will have the power, but all that's needed now patience."

8:00 am

As he tossed and turned in his bed, Lucas woke up in a cold sweat. He looked around, panic and out of breath. His head was hurting, but his mind was forced on everything from the night before. He quickly looked down at his hands to see no injuries. Without a second thought, he jumped out of bed and went to his mirror. He quickly examined himself up and down, looking for any cuts, scars, or even visible bruises. He let out a deep sigh of relief when he realized he was clear and let out a soft chuckle.

"Was it all a dream?" He thought to himself as he rested his head on the glass. He remembered everything that happened, but it all seemed surreal and impossible. His memory then landed on that demon girl and felt his own lips.

"It felt so real. Maybe I just took something strong yesterday." He wondered then remembered something similar happening after he ate Chinese food. It always gave him very vivid dreams.

After reassuring himself that it was a dream, Lucas threw on a shirt and decided to see if his mom and sister got back from their work. He did have the day off, so he could sit around and catch up on some anime for once.

"Maybe I could get Martha to sit with me on some." He thought to himself as he opened the door to his room. He walked no more than a few feet and let out a deep yawn and bummed into something similar to a brick wall, and landed on his ass with a thump. "Ouch." He said out loud before looking up to see a pair of feet in front of him.

"Martha. We really have to stop doing this. My butt is getting…." Lucas was about to make a joke as he looked up at his sister. He quickly went silent when he saw the expression on his sister's face.

"Get downstairs, Now," Martha said, really irritated. She was wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top with her hair visible a mess.

Lucas didn't say anything as he stood up quickly. He knew his sister was frustrated with something. She only snapped at him when she was going through a moody moment; he stole one of her pudding cups, candy, or even was behind on a task.

"Is everything alright?" Lucas bravely asked, trying not to irritate her any further.

Martha took a deep inhale before exhaling in a low grumble, almost sounding like a growl. She closed her eyes and raised one finger. "Just go downstairs. Mom wants to talk to you." She said in a much calmer voice.

Lucas could feel the anger behind it but knew she was trying not to blow up in him.

"Okay," Lucas responded without a moment of hesitation as he knew setting her off was not in his best interest. He quickly stepped around Martha and went towards the stairway. He turned back around to see if Martha was going with him, but she immediately went into her room. She nearly slammed the door behind her. This sent a chill down Lucas spin.

"Note to self: Don't irritate her today." He told himself as he came to the stairway. As soon as Lucas came to the turn, a smell filled his nose. It smelled delicious. He immediately took a deeper smell and fell in love with it. It was the smell of eggs and bacon.

"Oooweee! Momma cooking good this morning." He said out loud to himself as he rubbed his hands together and licked his lips. Even though he ran into an irritated Martha, the smell of food quickly changed that. Lucas could feel his body moving without him down the stairs as the smell was seducing him to come into the kitchen. He didn't hesitate and gracefully went down the stairs as if he was a ballerina. As he reached the foot of the stairs, he heard someone humming cheerfully. He did notice that his mom's humming was a little off and seemed higher. He thought she might have a sore throat or a little cold; however, the smell took his mind off of it. He got to the doorway and took a very deep inhale with his eyes close.

"Man. Someone must be in a good mood this morning." Lucas said as he looked over to the person cooking. The first thing he noticed was the red hair with visible pointed ears coming through. He saw that she had a little step stool under her to give her a little more height as she flipped the eggs. A look of utter shock went across Lucas's face as he couldn't believe it. The humming was even more unnerving as it was similar to the one she hummed last night.

"Looks like someone slept well after last night." She said in a sedative tone turning her head to look at Lucas. Her red eyes still big and pulsating as she gave him a big toothy smile.

Lucas could do nothing but look in utter horror as flashes of last night played in his mind. He began to stumble over his words as he kept seeing her covered in blood. His face went pale as he was visible began to shake.

"You….no...no….You can't be real." He stumbled to get his words together. He began to feel sick to his stomach as if he would throw up as he remembered her killing two people.

"Lucas L. Homes!" A voice called him by his full name.

Lucas's head turned immediately toward the voice and saw that it was his mom. She was sitting there with a glass and bottle of wine next to her. He immediately went over to her panic and worried. He needed to get her out of the house and away from the demon. His quivering hands reached for his mom's that rested on the table. "Mom. We have to go. She is dangerous. We need to leave now before she hurts us." He said with fear in his voice.

"Lucas. Lucas. Lucas." Elizabeth said in a calm tone while removing her other hand away from her wine glass. She could see that he was visibly shaking and worried. She didn't raise her voice yet did try to calm him down.

As he ignored her words and continued trying to pull her by her right hand, Elizabeth quickly placed her left hand on his cheek. A light warm sensation came from it, and Lucas could feel himself calming down.

"Sweetheart, I need you to calm down and listen to my voice. You're giving yourself a panic attack, so please focus on my voice." Elizabeth spoke in a calm and soothing voice.

She would do this whenever Lucas was on the verge of overwhelming himself. He would have moments where these incidents would happen, and she worked as his anchor back to a much calmer state. She spoke to him very calmly and took her time trying to make sure he didn't slip any further. Lucas slowly began to take deep breaths and focus on his mother's warm touch. Tears fell from his eyes as he was able to calm down fully and speak much clearly.

"Mom. We have to go. She's going to kill us all." Lucas said, still shaken.

"Sweetheart, you are safe. She is not going to hurt anyone." Elizabeth said in a reassuring voice and looking him in his eyes. She showed him a soft smile as she saw him slowly listen to her words. Her smile quickly faded as she looked past Lucas towards the red-headed girl. Their guest just looked at the whole commotion with a smile on her face. "Right?"

"Yes! By the serpents, I thought we agreed to it last night." The demon girl said, throwing her hands up. "Lizzy, you know me well enough that I don't go back on my word. Besides, if had I known he was your son, I would have gladly helped him out."

Elizabeth rolled her eyes at the short demon girl before exhaling. She could see the smile on her face and knew she was right.

Lucas looked at them both out of confusion. He wiped away his tears as he started to focus more.

"Wait, you two know each other?" He said, taking a step back. He then remembered the demon said something about them being best friends or so. "Hold on was she telling the truth about being your best friend?"

"Yeah, Lizzy. Was I?" The demon girl said, leaning across the island as her feet dangled off. She was enjoying this every second and couldn't wait to hear what Elizabeth said. Even giggling a little.

A deep breath left Elizabeth's mouth as she could feel their eyes hungry for an answer. She quickly picked up her glass of wine and took a big gulp of it. She felt her face start to blush ever so slightly as she placed the glass down.

"Okay. First, sweetheart, you might want to sit down with what I'm about to tell you." She gestured her hand to the seat closest to her.

"I think I will stand on this one, mom." He said, crossing his arms as he wanted to know the answer badly.

Elizabeth just shrugged as she did offer him. "Well, for starters. That being on the counter name is Amay Yangu (Pronounced like Young). My ex-" She said before Lucas cut her off.

"Lover?! Oh my God. You slept with that demon!?" Lucas said, falling back into the chair. He realized that he had kissed his mom's ex-lover. "I think I'm gonna be sick." He said, starting to gag.

Amay couldn't help but burst into laughter at his response. She loved the fact his answer went straight to that. She was laughing so hard she rolled off of the counter. Elizabeth just held her head in her hand as she shook her head at his response. She was trying her best not to laugh and stay in parent mode.

"I'm too sober for this shit." She muttered to herself as her eyes went back to her son.

"First off. No... We were never like that." Elizabeth said, looking at him, then turning her attention towards Amay. Their eyes locked together for a solid moment and caused Amay to go silent and look away from Elizabeth to check on the food. "And second, it's rude to jump to conclusions like that."

"Oh. Then what was she?" Lucas asked, feeling stupid for that assumption. A small part of him was glad he didn't kiss his mom's ex. This sent a shiver down his spine at the very thought of it.

"As I was going to say, she's my ex-demi partner," Elizabeth said as her eyes glowed a little.

"A demi..partner?" Lucas asked, visibly confused.

"Oh boy," Elizabeth said as she took another sip of her wine. She dreaded the day like this would come but never under the circumstances of last night. "This is going to be a very long morning." She muttered irrationally.

Sorry for the late posting. Last night was a little hectic. Also I revamp the Prologue a little because, since I'm kinda revamping the story as I go I felt I needed to do so. Anywho, I plan to drop another one sooner or later today. Let me know what you think so far and thanks for reading so far if you are.
