Chapter 42

New York City, New York

1:45 am

In an alleyway, behind a few abandoned buildings, outside of the view of the average human, a long line formed as Demi-Humans and magical beings alike await their turns to enter a secret club. Their anxiety, excitement, and curiosity filled the air for the chance to see the newest and biggest DJ that was growing in the city. Each one and their friends heard rumors or from others, who've gone to his latest party, about how his music was the next biggest thing and how out of this world the experience was. No matter who they were or their origins, anyone can come to let loose and feel the rhythm overtake them.

"Next in line," The rugged, tired, and heavily built bouncer ordered as he stepped to the side to allow a young couple to pass. Bags rested under his eyes as he looked at the crowd with an unphased look. It was an easy job that started to take effect after many of dealing with the occasional fights, rowdy or too drunken partiers, or those that couldn't get in and decided to retaliate.

"No ID. No entrance." He told himself each night.

As he examined the ID of a young-looking elf, he sighed as he realized it was fake. His baby blue eyes looked at the underage elf and passed the fake card back.

"Beat it, kid." He told the elf before turning his attention to the next person behind him.

"Come on. I'm only one decade behind. Tonight's the only night I will be in this shit hole they call the human realm. Can't you cut me a break?" The elf pleaded with the scaly bodyguard.

"Not my problem. Now leave before I make you." The bouncer said, barely giving the elf his attention. He heard this plea over thousand times and already knew the elf would do one of three things. Either get mad and storm away, bribe him, or pick a fight. He hoped he chose the easiest route, but they usually don't.

"Let this be an easy night." He thought to himself as he waited for the young elf's response.

"Maybe you saw my age wrong. Maybe I'm a few hundred years older than I look." The elf said as he slid the bouncer his ID and a few hundred to cover his mistake.

"Huh. It looks like I did." The bouncer said, taking the bribe. He moved the rope to allow the elf inside. He sighed and shook his head at the young fellow before a snark chuckle left his mouth. It wasn't his place to judge any that came in, but he did wonder why most of them didn't try more clever ways.

"It's none of my concern, and it's just a job." He thought to himself as he looked at the next group wanting to get in.

As he was about to check the next group, an uneasy feeling overcame him. He looked up through his shades, and his heart nearly dropped. He watched as a drop-dead gorgeous woman with long silver hair walked past the line and straight towards him.

"Well fuck,"

The words left his mouth as he recognized them immediately and what trouble usually followed.

She wore a black temptation nightwear party dress that hugged her body and revealed her natural curves. The long v-neck showed her silk-like skin to be shown but kept those that looked at it only to imagine what was hiding behind the piece of clothing. She had a loose ring bracelet on her left hand connected to a ring on her middle finger by a single gold string. She had a thin golden locket that laid gently against her skin that lightly bounced as she walked. The only make-up on her face was black lipstick to match her black dress.

As she walked toward the bouncer, she could feel nearly all the guys' eyes on her and hear some girls getting mad at her or their men looking at her goods. A low crowd of whispers filled the air from some who couldn't hold their awe, or the gasp of fear of those who knew her. The feeling of awe, anger, jealousy, fear, realization, and wanting from the crowd caused a slight giggle to escape her mouth as she bathed in the feeling. She walked gracefully and confidently towards her target as her yellowish-orange iris caught his attention the most.

The bouncer looked at her with a mixture of awe and horror. He had heard she was a dangerous woman but kept forgetting how absolutely stunning she was. If looks could kill, she would have been the murderer. He could feel his hands shaking as nervous sweat went down his spine. He nearly jumped out of his skin when she stopped only a few inches before him. Her voice made him feel as small as a mouse, even though he was standing over her.

"Lovely night, isn't it?" Elizabeth's voice spoke to him softly with elegance and refined power. It was as if an angel was soothing him while at the same time plugging a knife into his chest.

The bouncer swallowed, making a loud gulp as he didn't speak, but continued to stare at the woman.

"I guess you're not a fan for small talk, so let me ask you this then." Elizabeth softly chuckled as her smile turned into an emotionless expression. "How many are there on the inside?" She coldly asked him as her yellowish-orange eyes stared through him.

"36. With nearly all of them mostly being heavily armed, and only 6 guarding him." The bouncer spits out without hesitation.

"I see. And the rest are just innocent mages and Demi-Humans wanting to party?" Elizabeth said, looking down for a moment as she was thinking. "And where would he most likely be?"

"If I was to guess either in the back room or V.I.P. I honestly do not know; they just hired me to watch the door." The bodyguard said with audible fear in his voice.

"Oh, I know, dear. That's why I'm talking to you." Elizabeth said confidently with a slight smile, then giggled. She then examined him for a moment. "What is your name?"

"Mitchell, ma'am," he answered as he wasn't sure what she would do to him.

"That's such a lovely name." Elizabeth smiled at him. Her face turned to that of concern as she looked at him closely. "Mitchell, you don't look well. Why don't you take the rest of the night off?"

"Yes, ma'am. " Mitchell said, taking the woman's hint. "Would you like me to get the door for you?"

"That would be lovely," she softly giggled at him. She watched as Mitchell scrambled to get the door and adequately prop it open for her. She then turned her attention back to the people, who finally put it together on who she was and did hesitate to leave. "Goodbye and make good choices." She said, and the rest of those that remained left.

Elizabeth took a moment to take deep and calming breaths while preparing herself. She then looked behind her to see a pair of glowing green eyes looking back at her. A soft smile came across her face as she knew Martha was ready whenever she was.

"This should be fun," Elizabeth said as she walked into the opened door, reading to hunt for her target.
