Chapter 42: Curiosity Blazes

Lava spits up from a gaping hole. Concrete and stone crumbles from the rafters. A frantic Daemik dashes to avoid being struck with debris. 'At least the child isn't here.' Kiora thinks with relief. She grabs a broken piece of pipe and strikes at the nearest golem.

''There's so many!" She cries out.

Kiora's heart races in the heat of combat. The fight presents a new form of excitement that has been long lost. Her eyes dart towards the sound of steel. 'Kiogun!' The young Daemik's mind cheers. She knocks off the head of another golem before approaching the warrior.

"Kiogun!" She shouts. Kiora sidesteps to dodge a fiery plume. "I have a question!"

Kiogun plunges his blade through the chest of his foe. Molten blood pours from the wound. He watches as new rock begins to form. The warrior strikes at the creature's neck. Decapitation is the best way to execute golems. Kiogun stands still while catching his breathe. His eyes lock onto Kiora's own with such a dumbfounded gleam.
