Channeller’s Pathway

"That crystal just now... truly powerful. Even my robotic chip enchanted muscles could not handle it." Liam, who had been greatly affected by the fearsome crystal, admired the person behind it.

He had not seen any weapon developed by the Tirion government that had such a strong suppressive power. He assumed that the crystal had been invented by a Mystic, since he had already inferred that Mr Rogers must had been a Mystic.

Now that the crystal had been destroyed, he could now open the book without getting bombarded with that pressure. The moment he flipped open the cover, he was suddenly afflicted with pain.

He grasped his chest, doubling onto the floor. Even though the pain was truly excruciating, he resisted it and bit his lips to distract himself from the pain in his chest.

As he started to regain clarity after he bit his lips, he could see blue streaks of light from the crystal flowing into his body. At this point, the pain had become like a tsunami, drowning him in a sea of pain.

Liam did not notice the impurities flowing out of him, which started to corrode the pavement. His spirit also started to appear a bit golden as the blue streaks continued to reform his entire body.

"Rogers was indeed pathetic, unable to kill an Iron Skin Tempered. However, you on the other hand have much potential, able to kill this man using a normal body. Consider this my gift to you, talented one. You shall be my apprentice. As your master, Derrick Smith of the Westwood Academy, I will hold control of your life and death from now on. Find Westwood Academy, and prove your worthiness once more for me to reach you the ways of the arcane." A voice in his head spoke to him in a monotone voice.

"What did you do to me!" After listening to the voice in his head, he responded with an increasingly aggressive tone. However, the voice did not respond to him at all.

"Arghh!" The feeling of having his life controlled by another made him displeased. It was sort of a reflex after the Tirion government had betrayed him in his previous life.

Well, at least he did not die. The man did not seem to want to take revenge on him, instead wanting him to accept him for a master.

Judging from his words, he must have been Mr Rogers' master, and was disappointed in him, so he had killed two birds with one stone by replacing Mr Rogers with me.

Even though Liam could not help but hate Derrick even more, he was already bound to him. At least now he could read the shiny book in peace.

Liam picked up the book that has dropped out of his hands, before flipping it open once more. The title said that it was Westwood Channelling Method. Liam grew excited as he read the title. This was clearly a method to become a Mystic!

As he continued to flip through the pages of the book, he gradually understood how hey became Mystics. The theory of Mystics is that there was a spirit inside the human body. Depending on luck, one could have unlocked the spiritual sense, which allows one to unlock their full potential. One could also ask for a Tier-5 True Channeller to unlock it for them too.

The people who unlocked the spiritual sense by themselves would have a large spiritual body, which stores the energy they would extract from their environment. There were numerous unique spiritual bodies formed through certain manuals. The people who unlocked it through artificial means would have lesser spirit bodies, which would suffer a 50% quantity decrease in storage of energy.

The Mystics could use the energy to purify their spirit bodies to advance in levels or use them to cast spells. There were simple spells in the book, such as Light, which illuminates a certain area. It continually draws energy from the user's spirit bodies.

All of this spells looked irrelevant to Liam, as all of these simple spells were a waste of energy, since the tasks could be done without using them at all. What really caught Liam's eyes were the advanced spells.

Advanced spells such as Fireball and Stormblast boasted a fearsome destructive power, shown by the pictures and descriptions of them. All of them utilised the energy to showcase the might of the Four Elements. Westwood Academy should be a place where one learns about how to use the elements to combat their enemies.

Tarkhan had informed him about the various factions that populated this land. He had not told him about Westwood Academy, so it must have been a subordinate to a larger faction, since all the rogue small organisations did not exist, having been looted or taken over by larger factions.

"Westwood Academy." This was the most probable place where he could learn the power of the Mystics. If he obtained enough power through the mentorship, he should be able to get the materials for making his amalgamations.

At the same time, he was also interested in the Tempered pathway. It was based on extreme muscle strength, which suited the explosive power of the robotic chip insanely well.

He was not sure if the two pathways interfered with each other, so he did not dare to implement the channelling method. He had been rudely interrupted by Mr Rogers while he just got to that part in the conversation with Tarkhan.

Speaking of Mr Rogers, wasn't he a Mystic? Maybe his body would bear some clues on the physique of a Mystic. Liam casually took out the bone knife that he stored in his pockets, stabbing it into the bloated belly of Mr Rogers.

The belly deflated as the guts and bits inside him spewed out, along with compressed fat and blue streaks of light. Liam was only interested in the light, as he tried to grab it in his hands.

However, the light just disappeared in the atmosphere, as if it was not there in the first place. The only trace that remained was the stinging sensation on Liam's skin when he tried to touch the light.

"This should be the energy inside Mystics. It seems like I need to follow the Westwood Channelling Method to try and unlock my spiritual sense first." Liam scratched his chin as he pondered.
