Chapter 2

Rest of the week consisted of me going to school till it was Friday. We have half days on Fridays and I took that opportunity to go check out where the mission came from by the address from the letter. I reached the building and I noticed it's the Special Force Org. I've heard and seen them before. They are like the police but a more evolved one with people who has special abilities and have more advanced tech. I entered the building, reached the reception.

"Excuse me." I said

" Hello. How may I help you sir?" the lady on the reception desk asked

" I signed up for a mission." I said

" Ok sir. Please go to the mission office to the right." she said giving me a pass card.

" ok thank you." I replied

I went to the office she redirected me. reaching there I knocked on the door.

" Come in." the person inside called.

I opened the door. Entering I saw a man sitting behind a desk, his computer was running and he looked really busy but chilled. I sat on the chair in front of him.

" Hi sir. I signed up for a mission." I said

" Name." he stated

" Aries Cold." I replied

He clicked his computer and in a few seconds he turned back to face me.

" Mr Cold, your name is on the list. Here are the tools you might need." he stood up and took a bag somewhere in the room then dropped it besides me on the floor. " The mission's limit time is 14 days. If mission is not completed by then we will withdraw you from it without payment." he explained

" Noted sir." I said

" Well then that is all." he concluded

" Good day, sir." I said as I stood up to leave

I left the building heading home. weekend has just started. I might as well start the mission. Reaching home I found mom watching a show on the couch.

" I'm home." I say as I remove my shoes

" Oh you're back. How was school?" she asked

" It was alright. Didn't learn much today. I think Everyone couldn't wait to leave for the weekend. The teachers just gave us work to do over the weekend." I explained as I head over to the kitchen after dropping my bag on the couch.

" Ok. There is food in the fridge if you want something to eat. You can microwave it." she called

" Ok!" I replied.

considering how hungry I was, I could eat almost anything from the fridge. I opened the fridge looking what's inside. I took out some left over tarts then head upstairs taking my bag in the process. I took a shower then head over to my gaming station. I played for like an hour while eating my snack.

The following day was Saturday and I planned on going to the quest. I looked into the bag they gave me and there was several stuff like ropes, a tent, knives, hooks, maps, potable water bottle and some other things. I took out the map. On it was the forest and the plain I was supposed to go. The things I was supposed to collect were cores which were balls made from the life force of beasts and the only way to get them is to slaughter the beasts. This might be a hard task to others but certainly not me. I put back the map in the bag and took some other necessary things from my room then head out of the room.

" Mom, I'm going out!" I called.

I didn't even wait to hear her response as I went out and closed the door behind me. I grabbed a cab and they drove me. Soon I reached someplace where I'm supposed to walk to enter the forest.

As I walked in the forest, I noticed that the forest was colder and darker and as I venture deeper it got even more darker. I started to encounter several small animals and beasts which some just ran away, minded to its own or tried to attack me. Those which tired to attack me I destroyed them off easily and collected their cores for myself. Despite that the mission was for 14 days I'm sure it might take me a few days than that. I encountered several large beasts which I slayed and collected the cores about some I tried to avoid. They would have only delayed me.

I had set up the tent and sent a text to my mom, which was actually sent after I searched for a power line.were there might be a phone service. I sat roasting a rabbit I had caught earlier. After roasting the rabbit I took out the salt and hot pepper, sprinkled on the hot meat then removed some of the herbs I had out on it when it was half way cooking for flavor. Whenever I venture out I always take salt and hot pepper for flavor in case I have to eat. I ate and after I was done I went into the tent to sleep.

In the morning I got up, the fire was quenched from the morning dew. I ate some of the left meat and drank some water then continued with the quest. Surprisingly only on day two I was already halfway to the location I was going. I slayed more strong beasts and collected the cores.

when it was almost midday I reached the place. In front of me was an opening of a cave. I didn't know how large the cave was or what's in there but I assumed there must be very very strong beasts for the organization to place it as a hard mission. The cores must be very important too. I lit my torch then went inside. The mouth of the cave was dry but as I went deeper it became moist. I came across a stream too and there were glowing things in the walls.

I walked deeper in the cave expecting something to jump on me but it was silent, all I could hear where my footsteps walking Crossing puddles. And of course this beasts couldn't let me just be without eating me I mean it smells me it smells food dinner presented itself to them and of course they go out and I was ready to fight. These ugliest beasts came out and the huge and surely they must be pretty strong. I took out my weapons and started fighting them as I studied how I would invite them oh how much their strength I could handle. For what felt like the longest time, like for ours I fought with the beasts but it was just only a few minutes. I guess I was so involved in the fight that I thought it took hours. I venture further into the cave after I took their orbs to see what Treasures they were hiding. Oh I did find treasures and I took them and put them in my bag. I looked to see if there were any other Beast but they weren't any so I decided to get my tent in there since it's already a shelter considering how it was already a large beasts cave and it will be safe since I have slaughtered most of the Beast. I would just leave for home first light in the morning. After setting my didn't I went out to hunt and to pick some fruits for me to have something to eat. I caught another rabbit and picked a few fruits, roasted it on the Fire and ate some together with the fruits then I went to sleep.

Back at the headquarters of the organization the people were watching what was happening. They couldn't watch everything because they were just some pastors were blind spots but they had seen enough to depict what was happening. The soul how the boy slaughtered the Beasts, how he easily slaughtered them. The were astonished with the power the boy had and the leader had other plans for the boy.

" had this boy ever been here before to take on some of the missions?" the leader asked

" no sir, he has never came here to pick any missions before." one of the workers replied

" I see. We need to make him work on other missions too, that is if he comes back alive with a job well done." he said. " when he comes back and has done a good job send him to my office." he finished

" yes sir!" they replied.

Back in the forest, the first rays of sunlight shone and despite that I was in a tent I felt the morning that it had come and that stirred me awake.I got up and out of the tent to wash up my face. After washing my face I remove the tent and took my bags eating the remaining meat that I had along the way. Going back was easy enough, I just had to kill a few small beasts and collect the orbs for my own. The organization needed the orbs from the cave from the larger beasts so I was going to give the other orbs for myself for my own cultivation. Going back it only took me like half a day and soon I was there. I still have to reach home first to wash up and then I took the bag and went.

I reached the building once again just like how I did the first day. Entering the receptionist to received me, I greeted her and quickly went to the mission room. When I entered the office I was met with the same man from last time and then ask if I had done the work. I said yes and gave him the bags. He took the bags and checked in it.

" Mr cold, it looks like you have done a job well done. And I'm pleased with the work that you have done. I didn't expect you to actually succeed." just said with a surprised expression on his face. " Let's cut this shot, here is your reward. Here is also a token for you and you must go to the receptionist and tell her to send you to the big boss office. You should show her this token." he explained

" sure." I replied

I got up from the chair and excused myself, went to the receptionist and did as he told me to. Who knows the score to the big boss office. I knocked and open the door after I heard an enter.

" good evening Mr cold, have a seat." the person behind the big desk towards me.

After sitting down I knew we had big talk
