ALTERNIVERSE: Chapter eleven
"Gravity manipulation… Here you are, Zero." He looks up enough to see Zero hovering in the air just a few yards away, black lightning sparking around him. "Osiris, I have a visual on Zero. Proceed with the plan."
"Got it, entering the base now," Osiris replies as she uses her eye beam at a lower intensity to cut a hole into the bunker. Once she cuts a big enough hole, she drops into an empty gray hallway that extends far down both sides of her. "I'm in. I'll contact you once I find the family."
Osiris begins slowly making her way down the hallway taking extra precautions to be as stealthy as she can. Reaching the end of the hallway Osiris comes to a three-point intersection with a path to her left and right, each with sets of doors equidistant from one another on both sides. She carefully peeks around the corner to her right just in time to see four guards around the corner at the opposite end. Looking left shows a clear hall with no one in sight, giving Osiris the obvious choice.
Taking small steps so as to not alert any possible person behind the door, Osiris quietly creeps down the hall and making it to the end. "Ha, this sneaky stuff is easy. I should be an sp-" Before she could even finish her sentence two guards. Armed with electro batons and beam rifles, turn the corner.
Caught by surprise, the two parties stare at each other in silence. It felt like hours had gone by once they made eye contact but in reality, only three seconds passed. Osiris snaps back in time to realize this is not the time to be still, lasering one of the guards through his chest. A smoldering hole in the chest where the heart should be left as the body drops to the floor. The other guard tries to quickly aim his gun at her but fails when she grabs the gun with her right and places her left hand over the mouth.
"Can't have you shooting me with that, now can we?" Osiris says before letting out a concentrated energy blast into the mouth of the guard causing the back of the head to explode outward. Blood splatters all over the wall and the lifeless bodies of the two unfortunate guards cover the floor with their blood. "Ok, now where can I find that family?"
"Wait!" The word echoes through the hallway, capturing Osiris' attention.
"Who was that?" Using her better judgment she follows in the direction of where the voice came from.
Alpha Moon yells out grabbing Electrifieds shoulder. "Didn't you hear me? We must stay here and protect the family. We're the last line of defense if things go sideways." Osiris makes it to the end of the hallway where she can hear Electrified and Alpha moon around the bend. Just then the bunker shakes again as booming thunder echoes from outside. "Was that thunder?"
"Seems like Rift Storm is having a bit of fun outside." Osiris says to herself.
"Sorry, but I'm going." Electrified's body crackles with yellow lightning and before Alpha Moon could stop him, he blitzes away in a second. Osiris quickly ducks back behind the wall as the static hero passes her by in a flash.
"Ha, this only makes my job a whole lot easier now that he left them with one guy." Osiris says as her eyes slowly turn red with energy.
In the room, Emma, the kid sister of B.A.D, walks up to Alpha Moon who is pacing back and forth. Emma tugs on Alpha Moon's arm to get his attention prompting him to kneel on one knee. "Are we going to be safe here, Alpha Moon sir? They're not going to get us right?"
Alpha Moon gives Emma a warm smile. "I can one hundred percent assure you that no villain is getting in here."
Emma tilts her head then points at the door. "Then who's that hero?" Alpha Moon turns in time to see Osiris gearing up for an eye beam. The Hero picks up Emma and leaps to the left just as a laser beam misses them, blowing a man-sized hole in the wall as a result.
Both of Emma's parents begin to scream in terror as their protection was easily pierced by Osiris's presence. Once Alpha Moon lands he quickly spins around, opening his mouth and letting loose a powerful sonic blast that sounds like a wolf howling. Osiris counters by shooting back with a beam from her right hand. The two forces clash in a stalemate that locks them both in position as the family cower in fear while they watch helplessly.
"I have no time to play with a dog like you." Osiris charges up energy in her other hand then feeds the extra power into her beam thus tipping the scales in her favor. "So why don't you just sit down like the good mutt that you are." Her laser beam inches closer and closer to Alpha Moon till eventually he is overwhelmed and is blown back into the wall on the opposite side of the room. "Ok, time for the family…?" Osiris looks around and sees the family is nowhere to be seen within the room. "Well shit…" It takes a few seconds to realize they escaped through the hole she made and rushes through to pursue them.
The family continues running down through the hallways, terrified and lost as they don't know where the exit is when another quake shakes the base. Jason and Christine quickly stop and cover Emma, who is crying frantically, with their bodies in precaution to the rumbling facility.
"I don't want to be here anymore, I wanna go home!" Emma cries out in fear.
Christine gently holds her daughter's face, softly wiping her tears away. "Don't worry, mommy and daddy are going to get you out of here."
Just then a group of five guards coming rushing around the corner a few feet ahead of them. "Great! Thank the gods, we need your help. Some crazy psycho lady is after us, we need to get out of here now!" Jason explains as they are approached.
The guard in the front looks at the two in the back. "You guys escort them out of the base, the rest of you are with me." The rest of the group nod and act swiftly. Two of them help the family to their feet and run back down the hall they just came from as the other three go to intercept Osiris. It doesn't take long before they hear multiple gunshots echoing from the distance followed by an explosion and blood curdling screams.
They continue running until they get to a double metal door with the garage sign overhead and a keypad on the right. One of the guards enters a pin into the door's keypad causing it to open up to a massive garage with dozens of armored trucks and SUV's. "Through here, quickly!" The family wastes no time running inside the garage. "Cover the door while I secure a vehicle for them!"
The guard leads them over to the closet SUV and opens up the back door for them. "We're almost out, Emma. Just hold on a little while longer." Christine says, reassuring her daughter as she helps her into the back seat. Meanwhile the other guard ran around to the driver side, hopping in and immediately turning over the engine.
"Alright, let's go! We are leaving now!" He shouts out to the other guard who was watching the door.
When the last guard turns around to head towards the SUV a red hot laser beam pierces the metal door and strikes clean through the left leg of the guard.
"Shit! OK, we're leaving!" The last guard shifts into drive and floors it out of the parking spot and down the garage.
"So we're just going to leave him!?" Jason asks loudly as they drive away.
"He's already dead! Our main priority is keeping you all safe! Now sit back!"
Crying on the floor in agony, the injured guard looks to the door just as they are blown apart with ease. Osiris walks through the door, eyes gleaming red and with both sets of fingers in the shape of a gun. With her right hand she shoots a small beam through the head of the injured guard, killing him instantly. With the other hand she aims towards the SUV's back tire and with a single shot Osiris takes out the back wheel just before they could make it to the exit of the garage. The car careens off course and slams into the front of another park vehicle.
"Rift, I'm about to apprehend the family. How's everything on your end?" Osiris taps on her ear communicator to try and reach Rift Storm but all she gets is massive amounts of static. "Tsk. Can't do anything about it now. I need to finish this job for Transmuter."
"Sorry but you won't be finishing anything." Osiris turns around, surprised by the sudden voice to see Alpha Moon standing there unscathed; the burn mark from her previous laser beam completely healed and a light blue aura outlining his body. "I don't want to hurt you anymore than I have to so why don't you be a good bitch and sit down."
