1. Welcome to the known world

In a burnt-out land, without a single living being around, a young man woke up. He stood up and looked around. He found himself in a different place or a different world precisely. He walked around for a while and heard the sound of running water. He went to drink some water. After drinking some water, he saw his reflection in the water. It was shocking. He didn't look the same. Suddenly, he heard a voice inside his head.

[Finally, you're awake]

'What is this? Where am I?'

[You'll find out soon]

'Why do I hear this voice? Who are you?'

[You will have to get to know me]

'Why do I look different?

[You were transformed into look a little like your primal state]

'Primal state? Does that include these strange writings?'

[You have to wait for that too. It seals something important]

'What am I supposed to do here?'

[Listen to me. Only you and I can hear our conversation. We are going someplace! I'll explain the situation on the way]

The man started walking according to the directions given by the voice.

The man is named Saruto. He was in Naruto's world during Yondaime's ruling period. He is here as an accident but a voice accompanied him as a guide. The voice guided Saruto to Uzushiogakure. It seems it was the nearest village to the place where Saruto appeared. Saruto went inside the destroyed village. He felt an unusual feeling by going inside. Under some broken stones, he found some torn pages. He started reading the books. He was reading for a couple of minutes but his instincts told him trouble is coming. He dropped the book and turned to punch, facing Konoha's yellow flash in front of him. A kunai met inches before Saruto's neck as Saruto stopped his punch. "Who are you? This village is a restricted area"

"I don't know about that. I was escaping from something"

[You should come up with an excuse that he would buy]

'I know that! Let me think while talking to him'

Saruto put his hands in the air and started talking. "Yondaime Hokage, it's a pleasure to meet you!"

"Answer my questions!"

"Hey, I don't mean any harm. My village got destroyed…by a masked man. I found this place when I was escaping"

Minato looked at him for a minute then decided to take him into his custody. "You're coming with me to the village for interrogation"

"I am okay with it"

At Hokage's bureau, Minato was looking at the documents. The door opened as Inoichi Yamanaka and Ibiki Morino entered. Minato asked "Tell me about this man"

Ibiki said "He is around 19. His facial features are different from an average human. His body has some strange writings but he has no explanation over him"

Inoichi continued "His confession was true. His village was destroyed but there's something strange about his memories. It's like he was blocking his past. I can't get a good view of his past but his intentions aren't harmful"

Minato put his chin on his hands and said "There's something else. He broke through the barrier we put outside Uzushiogakure"

"That's impossible! Only a Kage level shinobi can do that" said Inoichi.

"Maybe he is a survivor from the Uzumaki clan," said Ibiki.

"I was thinking the same thing," said Minato.

"But he doesn't seem to be sensorial type. His hair colour isn't red…"

Inoichi stopped midway. Minato and Ibiki looked at him. Inoichi continued "The amount of chakra he has is similar to an Uzumaki"

"So, he is a survivor from Uzushiogakure. It adds up with the story he told us about his village being destroyed" said Ibiki.

"But the clan was destroyed long ago. The only survivor we know is Kushina Uzumaki" said Inoichi as he was turning his gaze at Minato. Inoichi continued "He spoke like his village was destroyed recently"

"Maybe he is a descendant of the Uzumaki who was in another village that got destroyed. He must have returned to Uzushiogakure because his roots were there"

Both Ibiki and Inoichi had their eyebrows widened. Ibiki spoke "With this little information, I would have never come up with a conclusion like that. You're smart Hokage-sama," said Ibiki.

"But still, I want him in custody for a couple of days. I will ask Kushina to see his case"

"He seems to be a strong shinobi. We need someone who can guard him" said Inoichi.

Minato thought for a minute and spoke

"Call the body flicker kid and put him in charge"

"Why him? He's a kid" said Ibiki.

"A kid with a powerful dojutsu, he's the perfect guard in this situation"
