54 The kiss

"I suspect they are poisoning you slowly to weaken you. If they wanted to kill you they had enough opportunity, based on the number of times you have likely consumed the poison anyway. Higher doses have more lethal effects, so it's clear they are administering small doses at a time." Rees continues.

Two months is not a lot of time.

"Is there no antidote or something that can heal me?" I wonder.

He shakes his head sadly. "In life, there are few times when the answers are that easy. Some things are irreversible, and some forces are just too great to stop," Rees answers. Unhelpfully. And cryptically.

"Newton's third law states that with every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. So there is an antidote out there somewhere, one that just hasn't been discovered," I tell him and he gives a low chuckle.

"And what did the wise Newton have to say about magic? About werewolves?" he quips.
