53 First shift

A resounding crack renders me immobile, and while hunched over on all fours, I pause in worry. My wolf is eager, impatient - rightfully so - but I need to make sure that in our rush we don't make a mistake.

Not that I would know the difference, I suppose.

My wolf sends a sense of reassurance through our link, asking me to put my trust in her, and I do so.

I grit my teeth as my body stretches and my bones realign to support its new shape, my joints shift and my skin feels like it turns inside out as fur escapes from my pores. The shift is not as smooth as I had hoped, but the pain and discomfort of my body transforming this time around pales in comparison to the pain I felt previously. So I will take the win where I can.
