CHAPTER 99 A Guest with News

　　Startled by the sound of the loud doorbell piercing through the tranquility of the room, I groggily blinked my eyes open, my body still heavy with sleep. I glanced over to my side and saw Lynette stirring next to me, her brow furrowed in confusion. We had fallen asleep in the living room after our late-night karaoke session, and the abrupt interruption left us disoriented.

　　"Fuck, too early for a visitor, Lewis!" My friend mumbled annoyingly as she was also awakened by the loud sound that made us both awake.

　　Lynette, with a mix of curiosity and trepidation, mustered the energy to rise from the couch and make her way to the front door. As she stumbled towards the entrance, her disheveled hair and drowsy expression mirrored my own state of mind.

　　"Ly, you look like a mess!" I managed to remind her.

　　In my half-awake state, my mind conjured up images of Montgomery standing on the other side of the door, worried about my well-being and eager to see me. "Damn it."
