CHAPTER 4

My spine bends, shoulders sag at the sickening sight that welcomes me with an evil chortle. "Alpha!" One of my trusted warriors makes her unwavering path to me. Her flesh is coated with blood, a mixture. A mixture of whom she held dear to her heart and those of the repulsive rogues, she is unable to stand stumbling and falling. All her strength has been stripped from her, she possesses none further. Elriam is swift to catch her in her arms, her eyes welling up with tears. "Alpha, they are too strong." My warrior whispers wheezing spitting blood onto the grass floor. She is deprived of the energy to fight, they have weakened her.

My true essence is swift to take control, her wrath shall be shown for all to see. At this moment, the anger, pain, desperation, and hate soars from my gut. I wish for nothing but to taste the blood of those sullied rogues. I shall send them all to the fiery pits of hell where they will burn for eternity. Those who dare to intrude on my land and kill my wolves, I shall destroy them all. This time mercy shall come only if the moon calls for me at the end of it all.

My wolf is howling her war song from within whilst we sprint through the land my eyes scanning searching for a rogue I can sink my canines into.

"You are the Alpha?" A sickening voice calls out from behind me. An Asian male sits comfortably on a cut log legs folded, hands coated with the blood of my wolves. His chest bare for all to see, his scars he wears as an achievement. Instantly, I recall what they had talked about at the Alpha meeting. The Japanese pack that had gone rogue. How could I be so careless? Whilst I turn around, my eyes find a group of unfamiliar wolves. Their scents are nauseating, they smell of the diseased. Rotten down to the core. A need to gag riles up within me.

A snarl rumbles out my chest echoing through my lands, saliva dripping down my mouth I roar charging at them with no second thought given to my course of action for I see red and I demand blood. I demand their lifeless bodies be laid at my feet. I have trained night and day and have fought several wars, these rogues are nothing to all those whom I have fought and mercilessly killed.

They speak before they could meet my teeth, they speak with silver-coated arrows. Countless arrows are being shot at us from all directions. I am swiftly pulled back by a soft hand into safety. A sudden gentleness, a sudden comfort holds onto me. Peering down at the pale hand, my eyes widen to see blood gushing down her arm dripping to her unmoving fingers painting the grass floor with a deep red. "No, please no." I whimper softly my lower lip quivering in fear to see her soul leave. In fear to face my loss.

The warrior. Her lifeless body falls onto the ground as an arrow pierces right into her head. The rogues howl with laughter and success of their proper aim. She was not allowed to even utter a word before she fell into complete silence. A quick death she is given yet she dies with a smile, she dies with honour. Most of my wolves who followed me failed to avoid the arrows and now have coated fresh pastures with their blood.

They have been slaughtered brutally because of me. I killed them with my own two hands. I failed to protect them, I failed to abide by my duty.

"A female?" The male cackles whilst his tongue seeps out as a vile snake to lick the blood on his hands, his eyes never leaving mine. He taunts me whilst blazing fury ignites my flesh instantly.

"No wolf shall take my side. This is my fight." I roar to the rest of my remaining wolves. An order to stay back and protect themselves. I cannot afford to lose more of my own, I cannot. I shall end this here even if it means my death shall be the result.

"Do not try to make useless attempts." He sniggers, scanning me lazily from head to toe. He sighs deeply showing a bored expression as if he found this to be no more fun. "We came prepared."

"What do you want?!" I question, a calmness floats within me. I shall talk first, then I shall devour their flesh.

"Now we seem to be talking." The male smirks in excitement as he rises to saunter towards me, "We want your land."

"Never." A straight unhesitant reply is given to him by me. This land holds the memories, the stories and the souls of our ancestors. I will never give it away.

"Then we shall continue to kill." He turns around casually ending the conversation abruptly as he signs to his wolves to continue on their path of merciless destruction.

"Stop!" I scream, my dominance oozing out from me. I am not afraid of death. But I cannot let my wolves die with me.

"Alpha, we are not afraid of death…"

"Alpha, we would rather die than give them our land…"

"Alpha…"

Wolves gather behind me holding onto each other, easing my fears. Yes, my wolves are warriors, true fighters. We shall fight till the last drop of our blood remains.

The male is surprised by our circle of war, his eyes widen briskly to what he sees. His jaw clenches to his irritation that now seems to be surging, he thought he would be able to acquire what he wishes with ease. Turning around he whispers to another male ordering him to bring out something.

My body begins to tremble violently as my eyes lay upon what they are holding. A female pup. They are holding her by the back of her shirt whilst her body dangles freely above ground. "Look, how cute she is," his monstrous hand touches the pup's face poking at her cheek. She wails loudly calling for her mother. "If you fight, I shall start with her." He peers at me, pure evilness is his true aura.

"Put her down. If it is land you truly wish then take it, do not harm the flowers of the moon."

"Land is not enough female, I want your land, your wolves and for dessert…you." He is swift to break into my space, his nose makes its foul path up my neck. He breathes in my scent with a nauseating lick of his lips, gazing down at me with his arousal on display. "I wonder how a female alpha would taste like."

"Release her first." My voice is strong and determined, nature carries my power with her. "I will do as your wish." My wolf howls within me, wanting to go for his throat. But I cannot yet. I cannot do this before he lets the pup go.

"All right." He peeks back at his wolves, another order sent flying from his filthy mouth. But before setting the little one free back to us,

my hands are gripped and cuffed. My eyes widen to the sudden action that leaves me immobile, I struggle against the cuffs despite it being silver cutting and burning through my skin and flesh. I did not see this coming.

"Did you think I merely wished to acquire just your land? I thought you were smarter than this. I want you to suffer the pain of helplessness whilst your wolves die before your eyes, then I shall reward you a slow agonizing death, just like my wolves suffered from."

"We have never invaded any packs! We never kill unless there is a need to, we take no pride in such barbarity. It is you who came into my pack and slaughtered my wolves." I spit my gob onto his face as he merely chuckles and wipes away the remains.

"Your alliance did and you pay the price." His eyes become horribly dangerous. "Kill them all, no wolf must be let to breathe. Make me proud."

I watch as my wolves run for the trees screaming, shouting, and fighting along the way. Females turn their backs towards the rogues protecting their pups, males fighting and dying to protect the vulnerable pregnant mates. A cruel sight that held me to its atrociousness.

Tears stream down my face as a gut-wrenching scream of agony tears through my lips, I am helpless for my hands are bound. Yet I fight with vigour kicking and tearing flesh with my teeth of every rogue who try to touch the little ones. "Deimos," I whisper unknowingly, I beckon his soul. It is an instinct that captures me, an instinct to fetch whom my heart is summoning.

I called and he answered. Amid the heartbreaking chaos a thundering roar of unleased savagery and rage breaks free into the air, nature carries him to me his scent overwhelmingly strong and comforting that soars and cuts through the mingled thick bloody smell of the dead.

He is here. My mate. I smile widely crazed with my mate's presence showing my bloodstained teeth to the rogue who now visibly trembles to the scent of whom had arrived. I will get my retribution.

This shall be a bloody battle.
