3. Divorce Agreement

Elena

I folded my lips and my hands formed fist. "I just have one question for you," I tried to say without letting a single tear in my eyes drop. "When did you find out that Sarah was your mate?"

He helped Sarah stand properly. Guilt was so evident in his face. And that deceitful woman beside him had a smile on her face, as she took Alpha Darius's hand. "I think it's time you must know the truth, Elena dear. Alpha Darius and I, had found out we were mates, five days ago."

Five days ago! Were my ears really playing tricks on me? On that day he came into my room drunk and slept with me. He could have warned me earlier on that day and this wouldn't have happened. I wouldn't be this miserable.

"Congratulations to you both!" I said, pained yet with a smile. "I wish you guys a future of regrets!"

With that, I took to my heels, leaving them standing there. Break a glass on the floor, it still won't shatter like I did.

I felt dizzy and weak. I hadn't eaten anything since last night. Neither had I slept a wink. And for the fact that my body used all its power to build a shield around my heart to handle the pain I was just feeling now, I thought I may faint.

Immediately, I texted our family lawyer's number to meet me at the packhouse for the preparation of the divorce agreement, now. I wasn't worried about this news spreading like wild fire. After all the only person I didn't want to find out about the news of our divorce was grandma Serena. She would be more broken than I am. I rushed back to the packhouse. In my room I broke down in tears, in hot tears.

"Luna!" I heard a soft knock on my door. "Oscar Brown has arrived," Ayla the maid informed me from the other side of the door. I had asked him to come now without thinking, but I didn't have the impetus to look him in the eyes when I see him with the divorce papers. I didn't have the audacity to sign the divorce papers. Why did the lawyer come so early?

"Hello Ayla, tell Oscar I would be with him in twenty minutes time," I said, trying not to sound indestructible but my voice must have given me out.

Two minutes later, a knock came on my room. "Come in," I said.

Tatiana, the Omega came in with a tray of food.

"I never asked you to bring me any food," I complained.

"Grandma is here. She asked me to serve you this food," Tatiana said and bowed.

I jumped up from where I was seated and ran out of the room. Luckily for me, grandma was still in the kitchen, so this meant she hadn't seen Oscar yet. I informed Ayla to lead Oscar to Alpha Darius's office room, because I knew Grandma never came any closer to Alpha Darius, his room and his office.

"Grandma, you are here," I said, after comporting myself. Just a few minutes ago, I had rushed back into the room and applied makeup on my face to hide my pale face. I even forced myself to eat the food Grandma had asked Tatiana to bring to me, so I could look healthy at least.

"Yes, I am. You decided not to visit me, so I decided to visit you," grandma said. "If the hill will not come to Mahomet, Mahomet will go to the hill."

"Oh Grandma, it's not what you think," I said with a wan smile.

"I am traveling, so I have been packing my things," I lied.

"Have you been crying?" Grandma suddenly asked, scaring the living daylights out of me. "Your eyes... they are so dull."

"No, I'm just so stressed out from packing."

"Where are you going?" Grandma asked, as though she could tell I was lying.

"She's going to the Silver Moon Pack," Darius chimed in from behind. "Be quick Elena, I'm waiting for you in my office."

"I'll be there," I said, with a nod.

"So tell me Elena, how long will this your vacation take?" Grandma asked quickly.

"Em— two weeks," how I hated myself for lying to grandma. This was so unfair and heartless of me.

"Can I ask you a weird question? Does a rejection harm an unborn pup?" I said quietly.

She looked at me sharply and I kept my chin up, hoping she doesn't see right through me.

I really wanted to tell granny that it was about to be over between me and Alpha Darius and that I reject this pack immediately I get back to my room. I hate keeping secrets from grandma but how could I give her such a shattering news? Especially considering the fact that grandma had just recovered from HBP? This time around this truth may be a ticket to her death and that wasn't what I wanted. I would miss Grandma Serena a lot. I couldn't even tell her that I was pregnant.

She leaned back, pondering over it for a moment before she looks me straight in the eye, a calculating look in them.

"Depending on the circumstance, Elena. But it will surely hurt the mother and... If the mother is already weak, she may never be able to carry another pup again. It will definitely harm the unborn pup."

I became disturbed and unsettled to think straight. After what she told me, I am no longer sure whether I should agree to this rejection.

"Why did you ask, Elena?" grandma asked.

"Grandma, I have to go and answer to Alpha Darius's call," I said, after realizing I couldn't continue lying. "I may visit you one last time."

"Don't be silly, Elena. What do you mean by one last time? It's not like you are leaving this pack forever, or are you?" Grandma asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Grandma, I'm sorry but I have to go," I said and quickly turned to leave.

"I'm going home right now, Elena. Make sure you visit me before you travel," Grandma said. "When are you traveling by the way?"

"Today," I said and hurriedly left her presence.

I walked into Alpha Darius office with a smile. "I'm sorry for making you both wait for this long," I said bowing. I grabbed a seat in front of Alpha Darius and sat down.

I picked up the file on Darius's desk, to see what it was: 'Divorce agreement'

"I asked him to prepare the divorce agreement based on my terms and conditions," Alpha Darius spoke, and my jaw tightened.

My stomach churned as I observed Alpha Darius's signature on it. He could have made it less painful for me by letting me sign first.

"I hope you know, after this agreement, you won't have a place to stay in this packhouse, anymore," Darius said, to which I nodded my head and read the agreement.

The contract showed that Darius was offering me one billion, a penthouse, two cars, and every other expenses one billion could cover.

I stare at the divorce file in front of me, what he is offering as alimony is too much. He really wanted me to leave so desperately, didn't he?

I tossed the file onto the desk. I don't need his money. Nothing can make up for the pain of being rejected by him. The man I had given everything to.

"I don't need all of this but I will take it. And if you think this is the price for taking away my virginity, then I hope you realize your mistake too sooner. Because later will be too late," I wanted to say.

"You do know that you need to leave the packhouse immediately if you sign the divorce agreement now," the lawyer reminded when I raised my hand to sign them.

I smiled and signed the papers. I handed them over to him once it was signed.

The lawyer stood. "I'll take my leave now, Luna Elena. After the rejection, please make your way out of the packhouse. Thank you."

"I will, Oscar. Take care," I said

Oscar left.

"You are so good at putting on an act. I know you want to cry," Darius said, drawing my attention.

I slowly look at him. "I am glad you're not the father of my baby," I said with a smile.

"In that case, let's reject each other right away, right here!" He said this, leaving his chair and walking towards me. He leaned closer to me. "I know you are acting up and acting strong. And I am glad you are. I don't want this room to turn into a swimming pool."

"I have better things to do, than to waste my precious tears," I snarled back.

He gritted his teeth and stood straight. "Of course," he took a deep breath before continuing. "We reject ourselves now."

It was now time. No more waiting.

"I, Darius Kendrick Ferguson..."
