Chapter 3

LENA

DECEIVED

"Bring her out!" I heard King Logan order the guards and in no time, the rusty doors screeched open and the guards walked in. They took me firmly in their hands, leading me out of the dungeon. I was aware of what awaited me and I couldn't help but wait for the worst to happen, what use was life for me after all?

I had expected the King to sound violent to me but the reverse was the case; he offered me a seat in the confines of the palace and engaged me into a harmless discussion.

"You don't have to be scared, I promise to be calm if you carry out your part of the bargain." He muttered and my eyes widened in suspense. I was slowly getting acquainted with him and the phobia which I possessed towards him suddenly disappeared.

"What bargain is that, my King?" I asked him in a scared tone. He smirked his lips, taking a few steps closer to me and that only triggered my fears once again. He was looking like a miserable beast to me and each moment spent with him did more harm than good. He fondled his lips with his hands in a fanciful manner, as if brushing something out of his mouth. "I want you to be relaxed before I make my intentions known to you."

Hearing this, I took a deep sigh and readjusted my sitting positions severally. "I'm relaxed now, you can go ahead with what you wanted to say." I retorted. I was getting somewhat irritated by his statements as I wasn't sure what he meant by the word, relaxed. Maybe he had expected me to cross my legs on his before he could truly confirm that I was relaxed. I was being patient and listening to him for one reason only, because of how he calmed his voice to speak to me. I only hoped something good would come out of the discussion.

"I want you to spend the night with me." He finally voiced. I was drawn back by his assertion because in as much as I never liked him and would never step into his room, I was surprised by the tone he spoke to me with. He could easily order his guards to force me into his room but he didn't, instead, he was requesting politely for me to join him in his room. I was drawn to question him further, "My King, this is…." I hadn't completed the statement when he cut me off,

"Unusual." He was right but how did he know exactly what was running through my mind?

He was living in my mind. He took a quick tour in my eyes and there was an abrupt silence; we said no word to each other as he stared deeply into my eyeballs. I could feel my eyeballs bulging out of place as a result of his excessive stares at me, I could feel like the whole world was coming to an end. He finally found his words and blinked his eyes distinctly, grabbing my hands firmly into his. "You know what? I am an Alpha King but that doesn't stop me from being myself. You don't have to judge me based on your experience with other Kings." He stated.

I thought deeply to myself, my thoughts about him were wrong after all, I was just acting based on my ignorance and my ugly experiences with my Uncle. "Alright. I'm sorry for not trusting you all these while." I uttered, although my mind was not fully made up about him. He then convinced me to stay with him overnight and asked the guards to take me into his room when I finally gave in to his persuasion.

My mind was at peace because of the way King Logan had ushered me into his room. I was still amazed by the experience. I had never seen a King from the werewolf pack as gentle as him. There was a sudden knock on the door, immediately, I rushed out to open up. "Hey, Lena! Hope you are having a nice time here?" King Logan greeted me, handing me a bowl that I perceived contained my dinner. I nodded to his question and accepted the bowl from him, "Thank you, my king." I thanked him.

Why was he being overly nice to me all of a sudden? For the King to serve my dinner all by himself, I knew something was amiss or he was probably up to something but I wasn't sure what it was; I wouldn't like to be quick to judge him again. I quickly uncovered the bowl and the aroma of the tantalizing meal filled the air. I was overjoyed to the extent that I wasn't aware when my face grimaced into a smile. "Thank you." I managed to speak before I began to devour the meal. Within a few minutes, I was done with the meal and I felt dizzy; my eyes were turning like a whirlwind. Before I knew what was happening, I dropped on the bed like a piece of paper freely thrown down the hill and that was the last thing I could remember.

"You are evil!" I yelled at him. How could I have been so dumb to have trusted him that much as to accept a meal from him? I was too happy by the fact that at last, I could find peace once again. He smirked his lips and flung my dress to my face, "Don't you dare! By my kingship, you are my breeder henceforth and you will always remain my breeder until I say otherwise." He roared.

I should have known better than to just trust him after being deceived by an enticing meal. I trusted him after he sounded nice to me, not knowing that he was just preparing me for the worst scenario of my life. He staggered towards the door and stole a glance at me again, "Clear up this mess before I get back!"
