Chapter 43

I thank him for his understanding.

I shut my eyes and relax in David's embrace, lulled to sleep by his steady heartbeat.

I was removed off the living room floor and transported to my old bedroom late at night. My recollection is hazy, but I recall grabbing David's wrist and pushing him down to my bed, causing my headboard to slam against the wall.

I wake up hours later, my body feeling tense yet rejuvenated. My back splits and my muscles progressively release as I stretch like a cat, palms against the headboard.

I re-plop after stretching and look at the white ceiling. No idea. Except something is wrong. Turning my head, I expect to see dark bedroom furniture and plain walls, but instead I am in my childhood bedroom.

I sigh. I can't believe I forgot to go home.

I pull the blankets up to my chin and shift my body to face a sleeping David.
