Chapter ２３

“A new day stars, why don’t you go a walk with me?” Jessica offers.

I nods, wanting to go out for a break.

I put on my warm clothes and trudge though a wood. The wind is not so strong, and it’s not too chilly today.

We arrive at a village that is in desperate need of repair and better living circumstances.

As we pass past the houses, I'm filled with melancholy. I can't take my eyes off.

“You know what, this is the place where my mate ends his life.”

I widened my eyes, didn’t expect Jessica to tell me this.

"Before the Rogues came, the conditions in the dwellings weren't as horrible."

"Was it the Rogues that assassinated your mate?"

Jessica smiles and nods. "It happened in such a short period of time. To the end of the day, everything seemed to be as usual. I remember falling asleep peacefully before hearing our pack members' cries for aid."
