chapter 92:Gabby’s POV
Winter had always been my favorite season. I felt calmer and at peace with it every year, there was just something about snow, something about it that brings light to my dark world the way Lycus often said I brought light to his. I do not know about others but it brought me peace and tranquility. And as I lay on the snow with my hands and legs spread out, tears dried up and my heart swelling with contentment, I couldn't find a way to hate this season for any reason. I felt happy knowing that my life would be peaceful from now on, knowing that I had slain the people after me with their blood on the snow because it was what they deserved and I had to do it to bring me peace. The angry growls of the rabid wolves echoed as they devoured the carcass of Helena and her wolf. I could feel the drops of snowflakes falling from the sky against my skin and with each passing moment I felt happier. The skies had begun to clear up a bit and my heart fluttered with excitement. It was all over and everyone would be happy including Andros. I leaped to my feet feeling the joy deep in me as I grabbed my sword and began to make my way back to the camp. Aiden was surely still alive and I would resurrect Andros with my power. We would get Kate from Fay and live happily ever after. My thoughts were followed by the images of our happy lives ahead. I had conjured up the scenes in my head to heighten my sheer excitement. And this time when I give birth, yes the baby is still healthy, as strong as its father, I wouldn't be alone in pains like I was when I bore Kate I wouldn't have to cut the umbilical cord myself and clean up after myself, I would have my family around me this time with my mate by my side holding my hand. A smile crept to my lips as I made my way away from the Rocky area, carrying my sword over my shoulder with my strides assuming that of a proud warrior. I made my way through the forest where Helena and I had fought and tried to make my way out of it finding the path that led to where the warriors would be. I can't believe it, Hera cried as I walked faster in haste to reach my mate, It's all over. Yes it is, I nodded, No more bad eggs around trying to kill us and we would all be alive and happy, tears of joy streamed down my face this time as I hopped happily along the tracks with my feet threading in the soft cold snow. I even hummed a happy tune as I went on, smiling to myself like a child unwrapping her presents with images of a very happy life with my mate clouding my head. I even thought of Andros's life, I would push him to find love and talk to Aiden to make him our Beta and enroll him into the rank of elders, he deserved it and much more You do know that we are going to be inducted into the wolves council right? Hera asked hindering my thoughts and I nodded at her, And we have a lot of cases to solve and deaths to explain to the supernatural world.. We will get through it, I assured her as I continued on my path. Aiden and I would surely handle it and have would unveil their eyes and let them in everything although they might have heard about the war by now and understood the situation they needed a clearer story. They needed a clearer story as to why I murdered Helena. Yes we will, She smiled and I broke out into a mini- run seeing the warriors ahead of me, I couldn't even contain my excitement, it turned into a full- fledged run, "Aiden! Aiden!" I screamed with excitement as I got nearer to the camp. They had pitched tents by now and the warriors outside who saw me began to bow inmmediately he caught me off guard Wasn't paying attention to them. I knew the tent Aiden was in. It was situated in the middle and a lot of warriors were surrounded with forlorn looks on their faces, "What is happening?" I asked on getting there, "What is going on?!
"Your highness." They all bowed before me as reached them, "The healer awaits you inside."I pulled the flap of the tent aside and got in immediately with my eyes wandering around for my mate. I could see Aiden was laid on a bed, shirtless with his wounds wrapped and he looked half dead with Judas by his side.
"Your highness." Judas greeted as he stood up from the bed my mate was laid on. I ignored his greeting and went straight to Aiden's side.
"Love, I am here now." I smiled and took his still fingers in my hand which was slightly unmoving and it alarmed me, "What's wrong with him?!" I gritted towards Judas who backed away from me with his head bowed, a reaction to my aggressive aura.
"His wounds are healed but the poison was hard to get out and now it has traveled through him." A get out and now it has traveled through him." A Woman I hadn't noticed was in the room answered and I didn't need to the told twice that she was the healer, "I am afraid that..."
"Finish that statement andI will have your head!" I barked at her squeezing my mate's fingers which were turning cold, "Do whatever you can tO save him or you will pay for it!" Angry tears threatened to spill as I overlooked him and saw his pale face. I sat on the bed and pulled him closer to him wrapping my arms around him, "Aiden please say something, anything..." I pleaded, his body was turning cold and I was feeling the excruciating pain already, "You promised to stay." I sniffed, and the tears began to fall. The hope I had when bouncing down the paths on my way here began to diminish.
"Gabby," Judas called softly but I turned to him with a glare that sent him backing off.
"Are you still standing there?!" I growled at both of them, "Do something before I snap your fucking necks!" I hugged him closer as I felt the painful tug at my heart, the type you feel when you are rejected but this was worse. They were right, it was too late. He was slowly dying in my arms, the pain from my Wounds must have weakened him too and now he was dying there was nothingI could do about it. All my hopes were crushed, I held on to him and began to yell in pain as I felt like I was being crushed by a thousand elephants on a stampede. It was as if my heart was being pulled out while another force was pulling my soul from me. The pain was too much, Hera howled crying out Spyro's name. I let his body fall from my hands as I crashed to the ground, the pain was just too much to bear. Tears rolled from my cheeks, my mate was gone all too soon leaving me alone just when I thought we could be happy at last. I laid on the ground bearing the pain and crying my heart out, howls sounded outside the tent from other wolves knowing that their Apha was gone,
"Aiden." I whispered trying to get a reply as I raked my nails on the rug in the tent trying to get relief,
"You can't do this to me." I cried out rolling on the ground as the pain heightened. I felt every bit and the piece I had shared with him depart from me, I felt my soul being taken with him. I couldn't stop the tears, I didn't know what to say. I just lay on the ground howling and silently asking the moon goddess why she always had to put me in a hard place. My mate was gone and I was torn apart while being Left with the hardest decision there was to ever to make. A choice between a good friend who died for you and your mate who was part of you.
