Chapter 5: Training

(Roberto: POV)

Heading up to my room I changed into some sports wear.

A pair of black Nike shorts and a white Nike shirt. I also put on some black and white Nike sneakers.

Once I did I headed out to the backyard.

Where I got my first genuine look at our families three story mansion.

Seeing it in my memories is one thing, but seeing it for myself is an entirely different story.

It's beautiful.

Taking a minute I admired the view. Then once it passed I got focused.

Going out in the middle of the backyard I did some warm-up stretches.

Since I don't want my body to cramp up when I begin my training.

Then again since I am pretty fit, given the original Roberto had a passion for football (soccer) and played it since he was a kid and began boxing with his dad a few years ago just like in the comics, I think I'll be fine.

But it's better safe than sorry.

In no time at all I finished my warm-up stretches.

I then activated my powers.

"Alright, time to get to work." I said.

I then began recalling all the powers Roberto had in the mainstream comics.

Super strength, super speed, thermo and photokinesis, flight by the generation of thermal updrafts, and several more.

Though some of those powers I can't test on my own.

But since today is my very first day of training I'll worry about it later.

Right now it's time to begin the grind.

First up, superspeed.

Walking to one end of the backyard, which is half the length of a professional football field, I got into a runners starting position.

I then started counting the seconds in my head before taking off.

My speed allowing me to reach the other end of the backyard in 50 seconds flat.

But not one to settle I did self-imposed timed runs s few more times.

Until I could move across backyard in just 20 seconds.

I can probably do it faster but that will likely come with training.

I also know I didn't push my super speed today but again, that chance will come with future training.

Speaking of, I need to find a better way to train sooner rather than later.

Otherwise I'll never true know what my limits are or what I'll need to do to surpass them.

Which is definitely something I want to do.

My test for super speed over I moved onto super strength.

Which is a grey area for me.

Because from what I remember about Sunspot his strength levels varied a lot in the comics.

In the beginning he could only handle about 2 tons, but as time went on his strength level increased and it was even said he was able to punch a Hulk and draw blood.

Which is definitely not an easy feat.

But it is cool.

That's why I want my strength to reach that level one day.

But I'll settle for what I've got right now.

As for how to test that...

Looking around my eyes landed on the trees surrounding the backyard.

And since they were the only things that could truly test my strength at the moment...

Checking to make sure no one was around I ran over to the trees and then placed each hand on separate ones. Before I began trying to pull them out of the ground.

A feet which I was able to accomplish with some work.

Once I did I stacked the trees stop each other, and continued this process until I felt some strain.

Which was 10 tons at the moment.

Upon learning this I quickly moved to re-plant all the trees I had ripped up.

I then walked back to the middle of the backyard and aimed both my arms straight up into the air.

Since I am about to test my powers for Thermokinesis, photokinesis, and for the concussive energy blasts Sunspot was able to produce.

Which I know he couldn't do until after he was kidnapped, and his body overloaded with solar energy, by the supervillain Gideon in the comics but I'm hoping that won't apply to me.

Inhaling and exhaling several times I first focused on projecting heat from my hands.

A task I actually managed to do with relative ease.

The same with light.

I turned into some sort of Christmas Tree.

Though the concussive energy blasts caused me trouble.

Upon managing to release one the force from the shot knocked me on my ass and into the ground.

The same when I fired off the concussive energy blasts several more times.

So that tells me I'll just have to get used to firing them.

It's also good to know I can.

So with that I stopped firing off any blasts and moved onto the next power I wanted to test out.

Flight.

"Okay. Let's go." I said to myself.

I then began imagining myself being lifted up into the air.

Where I slowly but surely began to rise into to.

Then before I knew it I was over 15 feet off the ground and hovering in the air.

This brought a smile to my face.

"Ah, I did it. I did it." I happily cried.

Waving my arms in the air.

Since being able to fly is the coolest.

That's why I flew around the backyard slowly before touching back down fo the ground.

After I did I de-activated my powers.

Since I think that is enough training for one day.

So with that I went back inside.

Already thinking up new ideas to help me train and master my powers.

[June 24th, 2002]

*Ding Dong*

Hearing the doorbell ring made me stop in my tracks.

I then headed towards it, since I was the closest.

Making sure to put both my towel and water bottle somewhere out of the way before I did.

Since I just finished up my fourth day of self-imposed training.

Which is going fine.

Though I do really wish I had someone to spar with.

My sister too busy with her modeling job to help me out.

Arriving at the front door I opened it.

Then immediately after I did all I could to avoid slamming the door in the faces of the people on the other side of it.

The people in question being Charles "fucking" Xavier, Logan, and finally a teenage Jean Grey.

Which doesn't make any sense.

Since right now Jean Grey shouldn't be a teenager.

Unless the X-men in this world are currently the same as they were in the X-men Evolution television series.

Teenagers.

Which would explain why they aren't a thing in the world yet.

The same with the Brotherhood.

But I can ponder more on that later.

Right now I have to deal with the fact the X-Men are here at my home.

That's the shit I don't need.

Since if Xavier reads just one wrong stray thought there's no telling what he might do to me.

Upon realizing this I worked to clear my mind.

While also putting a smile on my face.

"Yes, hello. How many I help you three today?" I asked.

"Greetings young man my name is Charles Xavier and my associates and I have come here today to speak with you and your family about your gifts. May we come in?"

"Sure." I spoke.

I then ushered the trio inside and closed the door behind them.

I then began escorting them all to the living room.

Already trying to figure out a plan to deal with the aftermath of the X-Men visit to my home.

Since where they go trouble follows.

Trouble which will likely land on me and my family after they leave.

That's the shit I don't need.

But at least I am meeting Hugh Jackman/, Wolverine in person.

That will allow me to get through the shit coming thanks to Xavier.

Screw you badly!
