Chapter V: Visiting Kenny's And The Sage Of The North

I usually refer to Kenneth as Michael during his internal monologue, but I've decided to change that today.

After bidding goodbye to the staff members, we headed towards Kenny's, the local equipment shop. We passed by it on our way to the A.T.C, so Lena could easily remember how to get there.

While being pushed along the sidewalk, the sound of zooming bikes, which, by the way, dont have wheels, but rather float in mid air using magic, pass by us. For those who have no affinity for any type of magic, it is possible to buy fuel canisters or go to the refuel stations to personally gas up their vehicles.

By the way, as the bikes pass by us, I caught sight of multiple robed figures. The robes they sported were of a thick linen, woven from Kanghas Spiders, native to the Gula region in Klolla, the country ruled by a democratic government. It has a wide array of caves and mountains, where various species of monsters live. Kanghas Spiders make their nests inside the shade of the caves and only ever go out to feed on Milletas Iru, a type of plant rich in Yonder, an element that the spiders use to make their strong, protective web.

These particular people have robes that cover their entire body, splitting up in the crotch area like pants, unlike usual Wizard robes in fantasy, that cover the whole body and drop down to the feet. It seems like their particularly different style to the traditional robe allows them to be able to move freely, without much restriction to their mobility. Ingenious, really.

On the back of each of the robes are logos depicting a Wizard with a long staff, raising it to the sky, and the gem at the tip of the staff emanates a blue light, with the exception of the man in front. His one has a red light.

"Ugh, the Wizard Guild. Those guys never do learn to slow down, do they?" (Lena)

"Who are they, big sis?" I turn around and ask her.

"Members of The Wizard Guild. The Wizard Guild was established by the First Sage Of The North, Magius. He was one of the first users of Spatial Magic, a particularly rare type of magic to be born with. It is said that, at his prime, he could teleport from the farthest end of Gaia and reach the other end of Hudra, the neighboring supercontinent, and still have more than enough mana to transport a whole army back. He was a very strong mage who didn't like to fight much. Gaia's leaders, instead offered him a prize to transport the whole Allied Human Army, which numbered around 7 million people, to the edge of No Man's Land. This power helped the Allied Human Army to prepare days, at most weeks, ahead of the nonhumans before they reached there. While the nonhumans were tired from the long journey, the humans were well rested and ready for battle."

"Sounds like a strong guy. Being able to transport so many people."

"He sure was. Or is. It is believed that he is still alive, and has secluded himself in the Sage's Tower, and has warned no one to disturb him. That was around more than hundred years ago, so he might be dead by now."

Magic, itself, allows humans to be able to actually live longer. When absorbing the mana from the world, it is said that we also believed that the mana core inside our bodies converts the excess mana into life force. It is believed that during his early years, Magius had an exceptionally strong mana core, which allowed him to take more mana from the air more than most humans could.

Some believe he died, and left behind details of his research about mana. Many were consumed by greed and tried to enter the tower through force, but were defeated the moment hostility could be sensed from them.

Enough of that story, we had finally reached Kenny's. Waiting for the sliding door to open, we entered and was greeted by a burly old man, sitting behind the counter.

"Ay, customers. Welcome to my shop. What are you looking for today?"

The man, who I assumed to be Kenny, asked what we were looking for, to which I replied, equipment.

"Ay well you've come to the right place, then. I've got load o' wares there hanging around. Pick whatever tickles your fancy."

"We will. Thanks boss." (Kenneth)

Lena pushes my wheelchair, and immediately a few objects catch my sight. One being a Light Wand, similar to a lightbulb on a handle. Reading through the effects on my holographic screen, I could tell that it wasn't too bad.

Light Wand: Allows For Increases Effectiveness On When Using Light Magic (S)          Light Magic Spell Cast Time Lowered (S)

We were primarily shopping for Lena's items, since she was the one who would be in combat the most. Another item catches my eye. This time it's was a bracelet that was of the shape of a crescent moon, one that closed in on your wrist upon wearing it and adjusted it's size accordingly. Colored a beautiful silver, The light from the ceiling reflected from it's gleaming surface.

Reflective Bracelet: Reflects low tier magic once. Charges again and can then be used after a set amount of time. Activation is not needed. Magic that will usually do more damage to the wearer is prioritised.

Lena herself also really liked the design and look of the equipment, so that was a bonus. Bringing my attention to the last item worthy of notice, a pair of pristine boots that look as if they were designed for running.

Movement Boots: Allows for increased control when using movement related skills, such as Gust Steps of the Wind Element, or Blink from the Light Element. (S)

The letters inside the two brackets are indicative of how much power is inside the effect. For this, the increased effect is only (S) for small, which, is still enough to help majorly in battles.

After picking up Lena's equipment, we began to scan around for mine. I didn't necessarily need a weapon, since I'll be inside Lena's mind the whole time.

We strode over to the area where Mental magic equipment were located, and came across an expensive looking headband, one that looked like a crown, as it had a shimmering gold glow. This accessory wasn't fitted on top of the head like crowns, rather it wrapped around my forehead.

Mental Amplifier: This headband allows for Mental Magic users to amplify their magic. For example, feelings or emotions are released more easily, allowing spells like Enrage or Confuse to affect targets more easily. (M)

Damn. This one's status buff was M, a stage higher than S, meaning the strength of the effect was vastly stronger than the if it was lower.

It's the only equipment I'll need for today, and even with all that we bought, we still had a lot of money left in Lena's personal bank account.

"Ay, you gotcha wares? Bring em here and I'll scan it for yer."

After paying for our equipment, we head outside and begin to head back home. It's been a long day, and the sun is setting. We take some time to do some sunset viewing, then finally reach our home, in the South district.
