1 Blood Moon

As Lucien took his last breath, his thoughts were on how cruel fate is. He was the richest, most influential person on Earth. One word and countries would grovel to please him. As every being he was fated to perish one day. He did everything possible to continue his existence, wasting vast fortunes, creating whole cities for researchers to look for a way. He wouldn't even sacrificing countless lives, if that would help.

After all the betrayals and methods he used to get to the position he was in, Lucien was ruthless and calculative, completely selfish and seeing everything as a tool to get what he needs.

Alas, even with all the power and influence, fate was not something he could fight, was the last thing that crosses he mind before he lapsed into complete darkness.

There was nothing, no lights, no gods, just pure darkness. He was not conscious all the time, it was just from time to time he would realize who he was, thus awakening, the rest of the time it was more of a half-asleep state. After what felt like eternity to Lucien, another feeling emerged, it was warmth. He still couldn't move or look around, but it was an enjoyable experience.

As time progressed, he heard sounds from beyond and saw the light enlarging.

...

On the Void Continent, it was an auspicious day. It was not a special date, but a sign.

In the sky there was a Crimson Moon, that looked like it would drip blood at any moment. It looked very ominous and didn't happen every often, in fact the last time it occurred was more than 500 years ago. Commoners were worried this is a sign, predicting wars and death.

Nobles were less superstitious, since their education was much better, but even though Henry BloodMoon was the emperor, he was still worried, both about the sign and his wife.

He was the ruler of one of the biggest empires on the continent, The Scarlet Empire, named after the war that was fought to establish it. On normal days, he would be dignified and solemn, emitting royal aura to deter all, but today was different, his wife Alice was giving birth, and the sign only made him worry something would go wrong.

As it was taking longer than he expected, he was pacing back and forth in front of the chamber, ready to burst in at any moment. All of a sudden one of the maids that was helping in the chamber screamed, and that was all the reason Henry needed to burst inside.

What he saw astonished him greatly, an infant held by it's mother by now. It didn't cry like normal infants, and was gazing with his deep crimson eyes, straight at the moon outside, not bothering to look at anyone in the room. It was giving of an aura even stronger than his father, like it was the ruler of the world and all creation, while having something charming and sinister deeply mixed and unnoticeable.

While everybody was too stunned to say a word, Lucien, who was now, Lucien BloodMoon, was thinking while gazing at the beautiful moon.

'What happened, how did I reincarnate with all my memories?' Even though he knew nobody would answer, he continued pondering.

'I wonder if this time would be different, if I will have the change to fight and decide my own fate. Is this world any different from Earth?' He was not really worried about going back to that stifling world or anything like that. He felt this could be his chance to eternity.

It was at this point that Alice finally spoke, breaking everybody out of their stupor.

"It seems like, my Lucien will be a lady killer in the future." She didn't seem at all bothered about the unusual color of his eyes, or the other abnormalities.

"Hahaha, indeed my son, with an bearing like that, he is destined to bring The Scarlet Empire to higher heights." Responded Henry, regaining his thoughts.

It was at this point that Lucien finally threw them a glance, he was pretty surprised that he understood the language.

Henry looked no more than 30 years old, strongly build with wide shoulders and bear like look. He was giving off an aura, much stronger to what Lucien has felt when meeting presidents and kings in his previous life. Maybe a normal baby would even cry when seeing him like this, but to Lucien it was just that, an aura.

His mother, Alice, on the other hand, was tall and thin, graceful and loving. Her looks were alluring, as otherwise the emperor wouldn't take an interest. She had the perfect proportions and disposition for a queen, Lucien assumed she was not a commoner at birth.

"All present, will keep this a secret, no word leaks about the birth of Lucien on such an auspicious date." Said Henry, he didn't need to threaten, as everybody clearly knew what would happen if they betrayed the empire.

It was a big coincidence, that the birth was a bit earlier than expected, so nobody, except the maids that were called in an emergency, knew. They all just needed to fake it a couple of days later, as even though nobles were less superstitious, they could still use it to rile the masses and make trouble the emperor didn't feel like dealing with.

Lucien just looked back towards the fascinating moon, as he continued to plan what to do next. To understand the world he is in and the possibilities for the future.

'I should find out more about this world and what it can offer me, and decide on the path I will take in this life.'
