Tale of a Tail

Why is something called a fairytale? The answer is quite simple if you think about it. Fairies are liars and sirens have the grand ability of creating enticing but dangerous stories. What may happen when you place those together- fairy tail tales or just "fairytales" for short. There is an exception to all these mythological stories, and that would be one shared between all the unusual beings of Heaven, Hell, and those in between. The tale begins with the unfair curse that was placed on an innocent babe for the sins of her parents. The sometimes so-called "fable" had become a lesson to teach young lover about rightfully placing their trust, but the truth and purpose of the story has yet to be understood. The pity child that comes out of this story is still very much alive and -as her name suggests- lively. The name of that young lady is Vivian, the bastard maiden of Lucifer from Hell and the 'Specter of the Night' herself, Lilith. Maybe, history should not be placed under a category of myths and legends. As it is said, those who don't know history, after all, are doomed to repeat it. Sometimes, it is a good thing to fear and allow oneself to discover their own opinion of right and wrong.

As the story is told, Lucifer once loved a married woman with all of his being, but she was lost in infidelity and cared not for him nor her betrothed. The woman, whose name was Lilith, eventually gave into Lucifer because he was handsome. After conceiving the devil's child and giving birth, Lilith was disowned by her husband and the Supreme Deity closed her womb. The beautifully winged woman regarded her daughter as an ugly beast for her hybrid appearance of a wolf instead of a winged creature as herself and Lucifer had been. Lilith then disowned her daughter and joined with the Fae in stealing away human children when years had passed.

All the while but not mentioned in the traditional telling, Lucifer tried to forget the betrayal he had bestowed upon him and began to take his dark angels to bed. The results of his sorrows gifted him with a baby boy. The fairy tail tale does include the most harrowing parts, however. After seeing all that was going on in the world below, The Supreme Deity sent heavenly beings to lame Lilith's wings and lower gods to keep the world from further ruin. These gods made laws in favor of their own pleasure and only added to the chaos on earth. Women, wealth, and adoration were only a handful of gifts that the gods helped themselves to. Many 'monsters' had been brought forth at this time because of the deities: mages, werewolves, vampires, fairies, merfolk, and those forsaken by Heaven. Some creatures were born of gods and humans, demons and angels, but most, were cursed out of the gods' haughty pride. This is still not the end of the story though, and not nearly the most terrifying part.

Once upon a real time after all, the non-human races made a vengeful and regrettable decision that they erased from history by calling it a fairytale. After a tiring amount of time being treated like second class citizens, the races instigated a plan against the deities. "We will make a being so powerful that it will even rule over the gods. We will show the heavens a taste of powerlessness!" they rallied together. Almost every race gave a vile of blood to the cause, and this action set forth the motion of the first slaughter. Mages, witches, and warlocks did not participate in the ceremony, advising that their kind wanted nothing to do with the gimmicks of the other beings, and henceforth locked themselves to their towers. With only the minor knowledge of medicinal doctors, the ceremony was a success and gave birth to a powerful monster. The horrid creature listened to no one and had only the virtue of blood lust. Because weapons didn't work on this creature, mages were blamed for having used dark magic, and those not secluded to their homeland, were executed or made an outcast. Many were brutally slain.

With magic users disappearing in the majority of villages, sickness began to spiral out of control. Humanity's population was dwindling at an immaculate rate. 'Magic and 'witchcraft' became replaced in society as "Science". Most human civilizations began to rely upon this and the 'miracles' of the gods, but some held fast to tradition and went off to form their own villages. Cursh was one of these, and home to a young man named, Den. The 'scientist' had found a special place in his heart for the village after catching notice of a fair, young maiden when studying there as an apprentice. The woman had long black hair that braided down her spine, and often carried a basket with which she collected her market supplies. Den had found himself absolutely smitten with the beautiful lady, and to ensure her safety, he would follow her to the edge of the forest in fear that a haughty god would steal her away.

One night, on the rare occasion that the woman wore her hair down, Den was following close behind in his routinely way when he noticed a glowing plant wondrously sprout from the ground. The moment his eyes left his beloved, a scream echoed. In a rush, Den shoved the golden weed he had begun to examen into his satchel and turned to face the monster from the story. The beast stood with the raven-haired maiden pinned beneath it. Den, filled with adrenaline, went to fight the beast and rescue his heart's treasure. As he approached, the golden flower within his pouch expanded and burst about the creature's body. The beast shone in a glorious brilliance before seeming to disappear.

Den fell to the ground in amazement as the flower withered away before his eyes. The young scientist, though still in a state of shock, turned to aid his black-haired beauty. The woman was not yet aware of her surroundings, and by mistake, she attacked and bit her savior's neck. Ears sprung from her scalp while she leaped back from the man's body with wide eyes. No faster than the tear from her eye fell was there a cloaked man beside the girl. Den watched the figure wipe the liquid from the wolf's eyes before coming to loom over him. The heavy breaths that Den had been taking began to deepen along with a pain he had never come close to experiencing. It felt like fire ran throughout his body; his ears elongated to a wolf's and his body cracked and pulsed. The man above him chuckled, "That bite is going to leave a scar, Den. Hey! What a lovely new name for your rebirth." The undeniably, unhuman girl began to approach Den slowly with a hand over her mouth in disbelief. "Come now, Vivian, and bring along your little friend. I find it quite interesting what has happened tonight. Who knew you could spread your uniqueness?" the man spoke as interruption to the woman's shaky gasp. That is how the beast disappeared- the Beast of Cursed Blood.
