13 Choosing An Academy (1)

It turned out that besides Pel and the seven, every other person seated had a number and it was this number that they were called by.

"What do we do now?" the boy Des had picked asked.

"Nothing, worst case we get tested last which isn't much difference" Adam said.

The other three were finding it hard to start a conversation with Pel's group especially after the result of the test but they would talk at some point so it wasn't that much of a bother.

Pel remembered something and turned to Flora. "You never said anything about being a dual elementalist"

Tessa, Adam and Trevor also turned to her, wanting to hear her explanation.

"I didn't know either, I thought I was just a healer" Flora cleared up and then gave Pel a strange look.

"What?" Pel asked her with a raised eyebrow.

"I don't know, I am being questioned by someone with seven elements" Flora said her voice oozing sarcasm.

"Yeah Pel you're...oh I might know..."

Adam nudged Trevor to prevent him from saying what he wanted.

Trevor understood and changed the topic. "I'm sort of feeling nervous"

The others understood him since his element wasn't rare or anything.

Pel didn't say anything and started looking forward to the testing but something suddenly came to his mind and his eyes widened.

'I haven't used a mouth bubble for three days, I will not be able to erase the shame if Virg finds out'

"Ito give me a mouth bubble quick"

[Yes host]

A tiny yellow ball appeared on Pel's hand which he threw into his mouth.

While Pel started chewing on the ball, he had no idea of the small attention he drew.

Tessa and the others were used to his speaking to himself but it was the first time for Layla and the other two and they could not help but be shocked at the yellow round gum that appeared on his palm.

Pel couldn't answer Layla since his mouth was busy

"Are you also a space elementalist?" Layla asked Pel and Tessa almost facepalmed.

She had explained to him not too long ago to keep Ito hidden but he seemed to be doing the exact opposite. Although they hadn't known each other for too long, he had saved her.

Pel couldn't answer Layla since he was still chewing on his mouth bubble but after he was done he opened his mouth slightly wide and a bubble came which popped the next second.

The seven stared at him strangely while Layla smiled bitterly at being ignored.

'Why are his stuff always so weird?' Tessa thought.

There was absolutely no way Pel could restrain himself, he had only been a human for a couple of days so his normal qualities were with him and Tessa figured no matter what she did it was only a matter of time before people start asking questions.

While Tessa was feeling worried, Pel was not the least bothered about being himself, maybe he was underestimating humans, maybe not but he for sure knew this wasn't a race he couldn't deal with so why keep a low profile?

The ability test continued and the group was able to understand how rare Variants were, among the first hundred to take the test only four were classified as Varient.

Among the four were two boys and two girls respectively. And as it turned out the two boys were twins and both had the ability to shapeshift, while the first could take the form of other humans the latter possessed the ability to turn into beasts.

Of the two girls, the youngest had the ability 'Chameleon'. Pel had no idea why the device called it that but Ito gave him a detailed description of her ability as well.

She could change the color of her skin blending into any environment and become invincible.

Pel was fascinated when he learned a chameleon was a creature on earth that had basically the same ability.

The last girl had the ability known as 'Gravity Manipulation'

Back where instructors were sitting.

"Not bad, they would make fine students for Redwing Academy" the instructor representing Red Wing academy said.

Another instructor turned to him with a scoff. "As if they would choose that crappy place, our Heaven's Window Academy is the best"

"What makes you think that...I'm sure when they learn how many Variants we the Blue Oasis have, they won't even bother to remember you" another instructor said with arrogance.

"We're not very greed at Clear Mist, we just want the twins, you can have the girls" another instructor said indifferently.

To his words, even those that never intended to join spoke up.

"How ironic coming from you"

"You people at Clear Mist are the worst, so shameless"

"Can't they restraint themselves?" Winx rolled her eyes, their petty behavior was annoying.

"Yeah but how will they behave when Pel gets tested...do you think they'll go physical?" Des asked, glancing at the instructors who were quarreling amongst themselves.

"To be honest I think they might" Fizz said thoughtfully.

Listening to them speak, Tulip did not know whether you feel dejected or proud. She was happy Pel turned out to be a good talent but her worries weren't baseless.

Her dad really might not be able to get her out of this. The backing of the different academies did not lie in the government alone, in fact, it was easier to say that the government had less than 40% control within the academies.

There was a reason most places had barely any casualties with the mana surge.

Humans were cunning and greedy even in things that required their survival and so even if things would never be made clear to the masses, smart people would know that there was always something shady going on.

Tulip glanced at Pel again who was busy chatting with his friends. The was no apparent sign of nervousness and she could only smile wryly wondering if the teenager was worth the stress.
