1 Prologue: A fallen star

Erina looked out the window of her well decorated room. The sky was especially beautiful tonight, and this once she was thankful that work kept her up this late. She was the leader of the local Adventurer's Guild, a job which she got some five years ago, when an arrow latched itself into one of her shoulders. While the priest at the shrine managed to heal the wound, a small piece of the tip might have been remained there, because since then she couldn't cast a spell without her arm hurting. As an adventurer, it was a detriment enough to make her leave the "glory days" behind, and settle in the position of her father.

She sighed, then looked down to the village. It was a small settlement near the border, originally designated as a fort, yet the only reminder of this were the crumbling walls surrounding it. The guild, a two story building was located a bit further from it, and one of the first buildings if one entered from the west gate. It was an ideal position, since most adventurers often did work in the nearby forest, just barely visible from the highest watchtower.

The girl stood up, and walked down to the gate. It was late at night, so the guards were more suspicious than usual, when she left the city to go for a walk in the forest. Trips like this were not advised, but thanks to her abilities, she could disregard advices like this, even if it came with a bit of discomfort.

Erina quickly moved through the large field separating the town from the forest, and when she arrived to the treeline, suddenly a large, fiery object appeared in the sky, then slammed deep into the woods followed by a loud explosion. The guildmaster hastened her steps, confident in the identity of the object. She heard tales about giant rocks falling from the heavens, and the magical ores they carried. These were sought after materials to the point, where some of the most powerful masters of arcana tried to summon them by force, but failed one after another. Yet she wasn't after money. Since the incident, her days were spent by pushing papers, and managing maybe the most boring guild in all of the Kingdom, so the siren call of a sudden adventure was irresistible at this point.

She was deep inside the forest, when a pack of cobolds came running from the opposite direction. They were few, and probably preoccupied with escaping, but the mage still decided, that they must die. First she chanted a set of ancient words while extending her arm forward, then when a small flame flickered in her palm, she rotated it upside down, which caused a continuous stream of fire spraying from it. Most of the pests died to the flame, with the exception of a single female, which dodged to the right when the fire reached the pack, and was ready to jump with a small, but sharp knife in her hand. Erina used Telekinesis to grab one of the fallen monster's spear, and thrusted it out, just in time to intercept the enraged beast mid-jump, and impale her to the long pole. This feet was thanks to her mastery over the spell, yet even with this she couldn't ignore the sharp pain in her shoulder.

A bit slower, but the girl continued the journey to the object. It was almost an hour and a half since the thing appeared, but judging by the mutilated treetops, the fallen star should be close now. When she finally arrived however, things were not what she expected.

Instead of a giant rock, it was a long, well crafted object many times her size. And instead of having a hard, course surface, it was covered in some kind of silver-gray metal. The girl's first guess would have been adamantite, however it was unlikely, since the amount covering the object's surface was more than what could have been found in the treasury of a smaller country.

As she touched the surface of the unidentified object, a combination of numbness and chill ran through her body, before falling to the ground. After that the only thing she could do is to watch as a large ramp opened on the bottom of the thing, and a creature she never seen or heard before floated down on it. That was the last thing she remembered, before the world went dark.

A few minutes later the spacecraft silently left it's initial landing zone, quietly gliding through the clear night sky.
