“You’ll let us remain friends?” Julio asked cautiously.
“Of course. You are the reason I have my little mouse. If it weren’t for you, he’d have been in the ground long ago.” Alexei hoped his sincerity showed on his face.
Julio loosened his shoulders and offered Alexei a relaxed smile. The whirl of the elevator caught both their attention, and Donal came bounding into the room. Ever since Donal’s feet had healed, he preferred to run everywhere.
“I see that your feet are better,” Julio remarked.
“Yes, Alexei took me to the doctor, and the doctor used a laser to smooth over the scars.”
Alexei raised his brow.
