Chapter 19

Xavier sat in his spacious office, surrounded by stacks of papers and files. It was a typical Monday morning, and he was engrossed in a phone conversation with Mr. Douglas, the owner of a prime piece of land that Xavier had set his sights on for investment.

The land was situated in a highly sought-after location, and Xavier knew that acquiring it would be a significant boost to his business, he was determined to get it.

As the conversation continued, Mr. Douglas dropped a bombshell. He mentioned another interested party.

"Oh I just remembered Mr Dunbar of Libra enterprise also wants to purchase the land, we spoke a few days ago, and his offer was quite a catch" he said from the phone.

Xavier's face instantly darkened with anger. He couldn't fathom losing out to that conniving Dunbar again, this was beginning to give him a nightmare, but he won't lose this time.

I can't believe Dunbar is meddling in my affairs once again," Xavier muttered under his breath. "I'll get back to you Mr Douglas".

As he fought to maintain his composure as he thanked Mr. Douglas for the information and ended the call. It was clear to him that he needed to address this matter face-to-face.

Determined to assert his dominance and secure the land for himself, Xavier wasted no time. He swiftly picked up his phone and dialed Mr. Douglas' number again after a few minutes, this time requesting a meeting to discuss the situation further.

"I hope you wouldn't mind meeting me up for dinner later today, let's discuss more on this topic," he said.

He knew as a business man he only cared about profits and who offered the higher price, took it all that was how it was in the world of business.

He wanted to make it clear that he was not going to let Dunbar snatch this opportunity away from him.

"Mr. Douglas, I appreciate you informing me about Mr. Dunbar's interest in the land," Xavier said, his tone firm.

"I believe it's essential for us to meet in person to discuss this matter further"

"No problem, Mr Qin, I think I'll be free this evening, no problem you just text me the stress then" He said and then he cut the call, he wanted to know what kind of silly offer he had in store.

Xavier knew that this was his chance to present his case and convince Mr. Douglas that he was the more suitable candidate for the land investment. And too he wanted Dunbar to lose so badly.

After ending the call, Xavier leaned back in his chair, his mind swirling with thoughts of the potential deal slipping away.

He couldn't let Dunbar have the upper hand, this time. He needed to strategize and prepare for the meeting. He needed a really good plan, ensuring that every detail was in his favor.

Xavier reached for his planner and began jotting down key points he wanted to address during the meeting.

He listed his previous successful investments which were just few as Alex always took away every one his opportunity, he only had chances when Alex wasn't interested .

,His financial capabilities, and the extensive network of professionals he had at his disposal. He wanted to showcase his expertise and prove to Mr. Douglas that he was the ideal partner for this venture.

As he finished organizing his thoughts, Xavier's stomach rumbled, reminding him that he hadn't eaten breakfast. He glanced at the clock and realized it was already past noon, this had taken a lot of his time, he told himself deep down this was his chance.

He decided to take a break and booked a reservation at a nearby restaurant for dinner later in the evening. He knew he needed to clear his mind and recharge before the crucial meeting the following day. He ate amist working

With the reservation secured, Xavier resumed his preparations. He sat in the Restaurant to eat, He delved into researching the land's potential, considering various development possibilities and calculating potential profits.

He knew that being well-informed would be key to persuading Mr. Douglas that his offer was superior to Dunbar's. Little did he know that Alex was always one step ahead of him all the time.

He sighted Lilly walking into the place, he walked up to her in the counter where she was busy purchasing food.

"I see you love your new office" he said sarcastically, as Lilly jerked away a few steps from him, not expecting to see him here. He went back to his sit and paid the bill packing his stuff hw left, he had lost his appetite to eat

"As a matter of fact, I guess you slept your way into the company, why don't you beg me to take you back" he tried to touch her cheek but she brushed his hands away.

"Please, Mr Qin please respect yourself, don't touch me any more" she said as she paid and tried to leave but he grabbed her hand and dragged her close to him.

"Listen to me Lilly, the company needs something like you, so I want you to come back, as long as you agree with me I'l will let you take any position you want".

"Never, you disgust me, and I can never come back to that hell hole you call a company" as she wiggled her hand from his and walked away from him in haste.

Xavier gritted his teeth in anger, he had never had. to beg any girl in his life, they were the ones who threw themselves at him, "I will get you Lilly" he mumbled those words in anger.
