Dreams
It was a dark night and a chilly one as well in the woods. The full moon shone through the clouds in the sky, illuminating the darkness that marred the earth. The dense trees blocked much of the moon's light from reaching the ground. Nothing could be heard or seen except the constant hooting of an owl and the howling of a mother wolf calling to her cubs in the distance. The woods fell into a deafening silence and the only sound heard is the breaking of twigs under my foot. I look back and see that the two men are hot on my heels. Panicking, I increase my speed while trying to ignore the burning pain in my side and chest. Who are these men and why are they chasing me? I've been running for a long time and they don't seem to get tired.
A small object flies by my right ear, narrowly missing me and landing on the ground a few feet away from me. Wait! Was that a knife? Oh my gosh, those men are throwing knives at me! Quickly, I duck under a tree branch and jump over a large tree root sticking out of the ground just as a knife landed on the tree behind me. Looking behind me for a second, I saw that the men chasing me were actually monsters! One of them had pulled back the hood of the cloak, revealing a pair of blood-red eyes. The creature hissed loudly and a long forked tongue came out of its mouth.
"Aah!", I screamed as I tripped on a tree root. As I got up slowly while breathing heavily, I realized that I had fallen into a ditch. A small cut was on my knee and it ached with every step I took. As I scrambled to get out of the ditch, a knife landed right in front of my foot and the two creatures suddenly towered above me, snarling viciously. One of them held a small curved dagger above its head and made to strike me with it. Before I could block the attack, a strange blue light distracted them. I look down and see that the light is coming from a blue gem on my chest. A blue gem? The creatures growled angrily and resumed their attack. The dagger was about to strike me when I screamed loudly and suddenly, it is dark.
