5 Spiral Staircases

"MAEKAWAA!" Uchimura shouted, sounding angry with her.

With a black ponytail and a pair of bright blues eyes, young girl standing proudly in front of Uchimura.

She was Maekawa Wami. Unlike Uchimura who had joined the running club, she had joined the archery club. She was still wearing the archery club's uniform, you can guess she got transportation while in the club.

Takeuchi once heard that she was actually from another country, and he believe it.

She was quite talented as her grip was strong, he feel like Maekawa was more manly than any man in his classroom. And from what he heard, if she wasn't a junior, she would be number one in the club.

"Just shut up, idiot!" she said and pushed the door once more so it can fully be opened.

Fresh air blew into Takeuchi's face as soon as the door opened. It was a strong temptation for anyone in the rooms to leave the room. And different from Takeuchi expected there was a spiral staircase leading up from behind the rooms. It was unknown where the end of it was, which made it even more tempting to find out.

"That's a relief, there was no trap in the door," a young girl's voice said worriedly.

She was Nagata Mayako, who always got good grades in class. Takeuchi went to the library once and found out that she was also a librarian. She had long, straight hair that she often tied up in a neat bun, giving her a no-nonsense look.

Her black eyes were keen and observant, always surveying her surroundings and the people around her. Takeuchi rarely talked to her, but from what he observed he often saw her getting along with Nakahara. So maybe she was on Nakahara's team, she would make a good student council member.

"Seems like nothing bad is happening, we just have to climb this spiral staircase, and then we will find out where we are," Yoshihama said as he looked up from the spiral staircase. And then he clasped his hands and said. "Alright, everyone, let's line up and don't leave anyone behind".

"Oh God, this is a really bad day," Murakami said, grabbing his messy hair.

Sigh, you're right, Murakami, it would be a long time to go up those stairs... Takeuchi thought as he watched his classmates climb the staircases.

Takeuchi was looking up and he can't see how tall the spiral staircases was. With the same crystal shape lamp in the rooms along the way the wall of spiral staircases, it looked more gloomy than the room they just exited.

Their footsteps echoed each time they climbed the stairs, and with his limited knowledge, it indicated that this room was deeper underground, like a bunker, or that we were in a tall tower with a strong wall.

"Takeuchi," said a young man next to Takeuchi. His sudden voice shocked him, as he didn't give me any warning of his arrival.

With reflect, he turned around to see who was speaking, a young man with round glasses and bowl haircut filled his sight. He was Tanimoto Hiroshi. He spent most of his time playing games, making him the most unapproachable person in the class.

No matter the reason, people seem to avoid him or at least people were approaching him at the wrong time.

Takeuchi doesn't know much about him, but Tanimoto always something he want to talk about with him. Honestly Takeuchi doesn't fully listening to him but he still listen to his chatter.

"Tanimoto, you know you act like a ghost sometimes," Takeuchi said, calming his beating heart.

"Sorry, I don't think you're easily scared, Takeuchi," Tanimoto said, teasing him.

It was because of those spiral stairs... Takeuchi thought, clenching his teeth.

"Yeah, sure," Takeuchi replied, annoyed, and wants to end the topic right away.

"Takeuchi," Tanimoto said repeatedly as they climbed the stairs. "This situation reminds me of the video game I just play, kukuku, where the protagonist is in the corner and then decides to beat all his enemies! Do you think so, Takeuchi?"

What do you mean by enemies... Takeuchi thought.

"We're being transported into the room," Takeuchi said, lazily correcting Tanimoto. "Without any explanation or anything we can use, and I don't know about the video game you just played, but so far I don't see anything strange happening except that we suddenly got transported to the room."

"Takeuchi, sigh, you have to ruin the mood like that," Tanimoto said, pretending to be heartbroken.

"I'm just telling you what I know," Takeuchi replied.

"But we got here by magic itself," Tanimoto said, his eyes shining excitedly. "There wasn't some technology that could transport all of our classmates into one room, maybe, maybe it was an alien that abducted us so they could sell our bodies." Then he shudders, apparently frightened by what he just said.

I mean, it was true that our technology hadn't yet reached teleportation. But it would be ridiculous if we were abducted by aliens, right? there wouldn't be enough reason for them to abduct us, our bodies weren't that good... Takeuchi thought.

"I don't know, I just hope what you said isn't true," Takeuchi said, suddenly feeling a headache.

Sigh, I want to go home, there are a lot of things I haven't done yet. Luckily, I wasn't the only one who was transported here... Takeuchi thought, somehow relieve.

With their footsteps and chatter echoing everywhere, they managed to arrived at the top of the stairs.

"Alright, finally!" said Yoshihama, who was ahead of the group and seemed to have already climbed the last few steps.

"Wooo!"

As soon as they arrived at the top of stairs, the groups rest little bit as couples of them run of breath because of the stairs they just climbed.

And with couples steps behind, Takeuchi manage to see what they just saw. At the top of stairs was a dimly lit corridor with no doors or branches, just a straight passage with the same crystal shapes lamp on the wall.

"Maybe, maybe at the end of this corridor we would get abducted by aliens," Tanimoto said standing beside Takeuchi, still going on with what he said earlier.

"Sigh, Tanimoto, I think you play a lot of video games, the room looks normal to me so far and this corridor wasn't that scary either," Takeuchi said.

"You can't be sure about everything, there wasn't anyone here who will guarantee it would be safe," Tanimoto replied, still believe about what he just said.

"Whatever you said" Takeuchi replied, half giving up to waking up Tanimoto from his fantasy.

Even if his theory about alien abduction was ridiculous, we still need to make sure that our trip here was safe, whoever built this doesn't care that much about the room, I mean, who is going to build something that was just a straight corridor, and it seems it was a long one too... Takeuchi thought, criticizing the person who built this.

With chattering they go straight forward, because they didn't have much choice but to go straight forward.

Now what's going to happen next, with a lot of things going on there, nothing would surprise me anymore... Takeuchi thought secretly preparing himself for the worst.

From a distance, there looks to be something at the end of the corridor, but the dim lighting makes it difficult to see what it might be.
