Chapter 3 - Rude Awakening

Steve took a few steps in before the door was finally closed behind him. He squatted down before Whitney. A round golden medallion with a green star shaped stone hung on his neck. It swung from side to side as he brushed Whitney's hair off her face.

"Steve," Whitney weakly called out. "What is going on?" she asked.

Whitney received a sudden slap so hard that blood splashed out of her mouth. She looked at Steve through her hair with so much shock in her eyes. He smiled widely at her disbelief. Whitney gasped at the sharp pointy fangs protruding out of Steve's lips.

Fangs? Are those fangs? She wondered.

"I just hate stupid questions." Steve said, giggling.

He took out a packet of cigarettes from his pocket. With his lips, he pulled out one. One goon took a lighter and lit it. Another provided a chair to Steve.

"Today has been a good day, not so?" he said, the mockery in his tone thick.

"What the hell are you?" Whitney couldn't take her eyes off his fangs.

Steve shrugged, "I don't know, what do you think?" his eyes flashed a yellow glow. Steve snatched Whitney's neck; squeezing so hard that she couldn't breathe. He pulled her close, sniffed the blood on her breath and grinned. "I have always wondered what you would taste like, Whitney. But then again, your scent is similar to mine." he let go and listened to her coughs.

"What are you talking about?" Whitney asked, wheezing.

Steve leaned closer, grinning at her. "She never told you too? All this time. I can't believe it."

"What the hell is happening?" Whitney spat out blood.

Steve glanced at the goons, his jaw down and eyes wide. He shook his head in disbelief, "Can you believe that she doesn't know why she is here? Perhaps coming here like this was a bad idea."

"Nothing you do is a mistake, great one." a goon remarked.

A thought crossed Whitney's mind, she gritted her teeth at Steve, "So, you're working with Louis." she said, but he did nothing but blew smoke in her face, "And here I thought that we would be friends after our breakup. I should have known, Steve."

"Steve? I really hate that name. It is so flat and boring." Steve took the last pull and breathed out smoke, completely ignoring Whitney's salty remarks. "It just doesn't hit the ear right." he shrugged.

"Louis is playing you. None of this is worth it." Whitney angrily ranted on regardless.

"You think he is the one behind all this? I am, you stupid bitch! Me!" Steve exploded in rage and Whitney's jaw dropped.

"What? You did all this? What for Steve? I have never done anything wrong to you. In fact, you were the one who wronged me by leaving me for Asher." Whitney growled.

"I don't have to explain myself to you. Not after what all of you did to me." he said, putting out the remains of his cigarette.

"You're not making any sense. What did I do to justify you killing Britney?" Whitney continued with so much pain in her voice. "She was just a kid!" she abruptly shook her shoulders, and the chair slid backwards.

"I'm glad to see that you have finally caught up with your rather unfortunate reality." Steve laughed.

"You son of a bitch." Whitney furiously said through her teeth.

"I'm I?" Steve got up and straightened his jacket. "I don't think so."

"I will never forgive you for killing her."

"We will continue this discussion in hell, sweetheart." Steve averted his eyes to the men. "Danny, I believe that it is time."

"Of course, Great One" Danny said, rubbing his hands together with a smirk that exposed his golden tooth.

"Make sure to have fun and clean up the mess later." Steve answered much to their delight and went out.

"Come back here, Steve!" Whitney yelled after him.

She was punished with a punch in her face. Whitney plunged her heel into Danny's chest, and he slammed against the wall. She threw her legs around to stop the other two from getting close to her. One swiftly got hold of her leg and threw her against the wall.

The chair broke and her hands were freed. Whitney used her hands to block a punch from another and then stabbed her knee into his chest. One suddenly pulled her hair back and Danny kicked her in the stomach, knocking the air out of her lungs.

A punch to the face sent her crashing to the floor with a broken nose. Danny got on top of her and clutched her neck. Whitney forced her fingers in his face while he strangled her to the delight of the other two.

Whitney gritted her teeth against Danny who glared back at her. Her face turned pale and her hands grew weak. She slowly dropped her hands—taking in the tight lock on her neck. Her eyelids dropped to which Danny smirked at. He took his hands off her and wiped his forehead.

"This is by far the most stubborn bitch I have ever come across." Danny slapped his hands clean and got up leaving the view of unconscious Whitney.

"I was really hoping we were going to have fun with her before killing her." one of the men grabbed his crotch—his eyes were on her white underwear showing in between her parted legs.

"The body is still warm. Who's to say we can't do none?" the other supported his lustful thoughts.

"Stop encouraging him, Billy." Danny admonished and shot a glare at the other one. "Get rid of her body and meet us back here. We can't afford to waste any more time."

"But -"

"No buts, Jack. We still have work to do. You fuck shit up for all of us, the Great One will be the least of your worries." Danny threatened through his stained teeth.

Jack grumbled aloud and picked up Whitney's leg. He dragged her up a flight of stairs and came to a living room. Pulling her out to the porch, he continued towards a pickup truck.

Jack lifted Whitney up and threw her to the back of the truck. In silence, he drove deep into the woods. When he was satisfied with the distance between the truck and the cabin, he hit the brakes.

He dragged Whitney out of the truck and roughly threw her on the ground like she was nothing but a sack of sand. His eyes trailed her smooth thighs and went up to her plump breasts. He licked his lips and lowered his head to the view. Jack took off his hat and unbuckled his belt. Spreading Whitney's legs apart, he positioned himself.

A sudden bang on the head forced him to fall to his side. Jack widened his eyes in disbelief at Whitney who staggered to her feet with a rock in her hand. He speared her to the ground and rained down his punches on her face.

The wet feeling of her blood on his fist did not stop him from pounding on her. He got off of her after a while and laughed at her bloodied face. Whitney moaned as she rolled to her side and spat out blood. Jack kicked the side of her face.

"If you just stayed down, none of this would have happened." he hissed at her.

"I would rather die that have a freak like you have his way with me." Whitney retorted and coughed out blood.

Jack's grin darkened into a scowl. "Who are you calling a freak?"

"Who else is here?" Whitney asked him back.

Jack forced her up by her hair, and gave her a tight kick in the stomach. Whitney gasped at the deepening sharp feeling tearing through her belly. Jack pushed her back, and she fell to the ground face up.

"I don't even want to imagine the wild animals your scent will attract tonight. Better pray for your death before that happens." he spat in disgust.

Jack eyed her thighs once more. He licked his lips. Her moans only enticed him even more. He got on top of her but this time, Whitney was too weak to get him off. She just laid there wheezing in pain.

"One last one ride you go, sweet chicks." he laughed.

Jack's phone buzzed. He grunted irritated and pulled it out to Danny's name flashing on the screen.

"You fucking idiot, didn't I tell you to hurry up?" Danny's angry voice blasted through the speakers.

"I am actually on my way." Jack stammered.

"Hurry the fuck up!" Danny cut the call.

Jack growled annoyed, "You lucky bitch." he got off Whitney.

She didn't respond. Her eyes were closed. Jack shook her but she was limp. He got off her, dusting his hands. Jack returned to the truck, and sped off into the woods living Whitney all alone.

A dark figure appeared in the shadow of the tree above. It stood firmly on a small branch, with the wind blowing its cloak from side to side. It stared down at Whitney. The being was turning away when Whitney slightly moved her index finger.

Astonished, the figure landed beside her and studied her closely. Amazed that Whitney was still able to move despite all her injuries, the mysterious cloak covered being knelt down beside her.

"What an extraordinary mortal." its feminine voice met with the wind.

Whitney rolled her head over and with her one good eye, she looked up at the sky. It was a clear night and the stars were shining but her attention was on the half moon.

"I suppose you are one of Steve's goons and you are here to finish me off. Well, go right ahead. I have nothing left to live for." and with her bloody mouth, she grinned.

"Steve eh, you mean the vampire? I am not one of its goons. Why would I work for a vampire?" the being laughed.

She took off the hood. Her sharp pink eyes twinkled in the moonlight. She had extremely long golden hair that the wind blew from side to side. Her oval face of soft features deemed her the most attractive woman Whitney had ever seen in her entire life. Whitney was about to say something when the mysterious woman smiled at her.

She had fangs.

"Oh great, another vampire." she faced away in disgust.

"Do not insult me mortal. I am no vampire." the beauty said and stood up.

She walked away from Whitney, swaying her wide hips in dark tights from side to side. The woman gracefully sat on a rock with her long legs crossed. Her metallic high-heeled boot dug a hole in the dirt while she hummed softly to herself.

Whitney caught sight of the two swords on her hip. One had blue rubies on its handle while the other was dark with a red handle. The one with the red handle was slightly longer than the other one.

"If you are not a vampire, what are you?" Whitney asked her.

The woman averted her sharp pink eyes to Whitney and smiled. This time, her fangs were gone and it stunned Whitney. She returned her gaze to the moon and admired it. Without taking her eyes off of it, she asked, "Have you ever heard of darkas gods?" She turned to look at Whitney and smiled at the surprised look on her face. "Well of course you haven't. You're not supposed to." she giggled playfully. "But if you must know, darkas gods are beings who feed on vampires. Even though they look like them, they are ten times stronger." she ended her explanation with a mischievous grin.

Whitney stared at her astonished. First she discovered that vampires were real and now there were beings called darkas gods? And they fed on vampires? Vampire predators?

"I am Sharaina Light. A proud darkas god." Sharaina's eyes turned red and beamed. She smiled at Whitney with her fangs out.

Whitney smiled back at her with her swollen lips. She faced up and thoughtfully, without wiping the smile off her face, she said, "Regardless of what you are, you will do me justice if you killed me right now. Without my sister, what's the point of living? My whole life has been ruined."

Sharaina dropped her brows surprised, "What is your name mortal?" she asked, intrigued.

"Whitney Stewart,"

"Well Whitney, what if I offered you something better than death?" Sharaina coyly asked her.

"And what could that be?" Whitney asked back, her tone unimpressed.

"A chance to have a go at your enemies."

Whitney scoffed, "And how do you intend on doing that?"

"Simple, by turning you into a darkas god." Sharaina chuckled with her hand covering her mouth.

"A darkas god?" Whitney gasped, "Can you really turn me into a darkas god?" she asked but Sharaina smirked "Well can you?" this time, there was impatience lingering in her voice.

"Of course I can otherwise I wouldn't have brought it up. There's a catch, though."

"What's the catch?"

"You let me have your soul forever."

Whitney cracking up laughing. Her coughed at the tightness of her ribs. Turning over, she weakly forced herself up to sit. Whitney coughed out blood. She wiped it off and stared her blood stained palm. Giggling, she balled it up into a fist.

"My soul is yours, darkas god." she declared and Sharaina grinned darkly at her.
