Ain't No Rest For The Wicked

Want to hear a story, eh? One about treasure hunters? if not, too bad, I'm telling you anyway. Pandora is our home, but make no mistake, this is not a planet of peace and love. They say it's a wasteland, that it's dangerous, that only a fool would search for something of value here. Then perhaps I am a fool. But do not be fooled by what Pandora appears to be. There is a legend of a Vault, with advanced alien technology, infinite wealth, fame, power, women. So you can understand why some little kiddos who hear the stories grow up to become Vault Hunters. But I tell you the legend is true. This tale begins right here on Pandora, with a brave young man, his guardian angel, a funny looking robot and most importantly, me. Anyway... this young man wakes up on Pandora with the body of Anakin Skywalker. Well.. anyway, this young man starts his journey at the same time Handsome Jack becomes Head of Hyperion, and sets his sights on Pandora. Authors Note : Eh.. No I'm not the main character. Sorry for the bad English, I'm not writing the story, Marcus is.

Chapter 5, I find your lack of faith disturbing.

(inside Handsome Jack's office)

The Hyperion Corporation had built Helios, a colossal space station in the shape of a "H" that orbited around Pandora's moon. The moon base as they called it, was perfectly Luna and geostationary between Pandora and its moon.

The president of Hyperion, Handsome Jack, standing in front of an enormous window behind his deck, was deep in his thoughts. He had always admired the view of Pandora from his office and even had the architects of Helios killed to keep its design a secret. Yet, he could not understand how did some random Vault Hunter know about his plans, did Angel go behind his back and had told the Vault Hunter? No, that was practically impossible, so how did a Vault Hunter get access to some of the most restricted information.

For the life of him, he could not understand, he even went as far as killing half of Helios's employees during interrogations. How did the bastard get his hands on that information?

"Pumpkin tell me, who is this bandit?" exclaimed Jack.

"I don't know… he's presence came out of nowhere its unlike anything with have ever seen before. He wasn't on the train nor can I find any records of him in our data base." replied Angel.

"So he thinks he's the hero of his own story, eh? Great, we have one more Vault Hunter to add to the list, what were their names again?" said Jack while pinching the bridge of his nose.

"It seems that Maya, Roland, Mordecai, Brick are still alive." Replied Angel.

"Urgh -- Get me some Pretzels, I wanna watch the moonshots" shrugged Jack.

(Back to Wreck of The Ice Sickle, David POV)

I hopped onto the massive canon, awaiting Claptrap's signal. The canon itself wasn't wrecked like in the game, so I could use its full power without waiting long for reloading. Surprisingly, the canon's seat was comfortable and relaxing. As I looked to Claptrap, I wondered If I could get Scouter to build me a Spaceship.

"Just blast this gate down, but DON'T do it until I'm out of the way! Understand? If you shot the gate now, that could cause SERIOUS damage to me. So don't do that! I'm just standing here to show you the area you should shoot AFTER I move away, which I will, once I am totally convinced you understand the instructions I am relaying to you! Do you understand? I know it's kinda complicated, but just stick with me! When it's okay for you to shoot this gate with the cannon, I'll say something like, 'SHOOT THE GATE WITH THE CANNON, NOW!" B-but that was just a test, alright? You didn't shoot the gate when I said that, which is good. 'SHOOT THE GATE WITH THE CANNON, NOW!' Also another test! You're doing me proud, minion. …Actually, I'm getting bored. Just shoot the gate now for realsies." Shouted Claptrap.

KABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The gate blew up with a mushroom cloud. "AHHHHHHHHHHH!" Screamed Claptrap, still knowing he cannot feel pain nor emotion.

After a few minutes of waiting, Claptrap like in the game, gets kidnapped by some bandits while some other psychos rushed towards me. KABOOOOOOOOOOOM! KABOOOOOOOM! KABOOOOOOM! I laughed with an evil grin as I continued to massacre the bandits rushing at me. After the hundreds of bandits now exterminated, I descended the canon and looked at my communicator.

"I made good progress so far" I told myself. Looking back at the hundreds of corpses while looting, I thought "Wow, this really puts in perspective the game, how many psychos will I kill before the end?" I immediately knew I, like Handsome Jack am a f*cking psychopath. I couldn't understand myself, was this because of the game or am I the one that's insane. I mean my first thought after massacring bandits were about the Dark Side of the Force.

The Force, that was it! I said. The mystical power no person could explain nor understand no matter how hard they tried. But everyone could agree on one thing, The Force had a Will of its own, a purpose, a method to its maddening power. Was that the reason behind my enjoyment of killing? While I thought more about it, the more it made sense, I was being corrupted by the Dark Side, not did I care since I would kill anyone without mercy anyway.

Staring at the corpses I pondered "If I get strong enough in the Dark Side, can I achieve Immortality and manipulate midi-chlorianes?" With my mind deep in thought, I finished looting without noticing what I was picking up.

(Narrator POV)

(Entering The Soaring Dragon)

Flynt's lair was a piece of art, on the very top of the glacier stood an immense mechanical dragon with ship sails as wings and was spitting fire from its mouth. David could even see a throne on the head of dragon, an iron throne. It reminded him of a show, and he already knew he had to sit on that throne. Not wanting to enter the lair just yet. David sat down and started examining his inventory. When he heard Claptrap talking over his communicator.

"So, uh -- I might have tried to stage a mutiny on Captain Flynt's ship before the flash-freeze. Which explains why his men are currently beating the crap out of me. Right, guys?" said Claptrap.

"SHUT UP!" shouted a Bandit.

"Okay!" replied Claptrap.

"So, Claptrap's got a new friend, huh? I gotta say. I miss that little hunka junk. The noises he made when we set him on fire… brings a tear to my eye. It just ain't the same as the sound of Heaton screaming for his life" interjected Flynt, the Boss of this glacier.

"WHY?! OH GOD, WHYYYY?!" screamed someone I presumed to be Heaton.

"Got a proposition for you two. You and Clappy be our personal torture buddies for life, and we won't kill ya. Think it over. Take yer time." Flynt grinned at me.

"Ow! Guys, you don't HAVE to beat me up – we can talk this through, right? Here, I'll do it for you! "Hey Claptrap, how are you?" "Oh, I'm fine – I kinda wish you wouldn't beat me up, though." "Why?" "Cause it really hurts!" " You make a good point, Claptrap, but beating you up makes US feel really good!" "I know, guys, but it makes ME feel really bad!" "But Claptrap, you're a robot -- are you even capable of feeling pain?" "Well, uh, no, I guess I'm not." "So, pummeling you makes us feel good, and DOESN'T hurt you, there's no harm in us continuing to do it, right?" ...Actually, now that I've talked it all out. I think you guys have the moral high ground, here. Pummel away!" Claptrap had attempted to talk to his bullies.

David shrugged over his communicator while thinking if Claptrap was a masochist. "I remember Flynt, he was tanky as hell, I would need a sniper rifle and then finish him off with my lightsaber." David said out loud.

While looking in his inventory, David took out a green graded Sniper Rifle, it was a rusty brown colored sniper rifle with 3 grayish barrels and a wonky scope. He looked at its stats.

An evil smile appeared on his face while he placed it as primary weapon, followed by his new trusty blue grade revolver with decent stats. David also equipped a better shield than the one he was wearing. Deciding to act, David started making his way to the gate of the lair. Not wanting to spend the night outside, he knocked on the gate and waited for it to open.

"What do you want?" A voice responded to my knock.

"Open the door." David replied with the most baritone voice possible.

"Who do you think you are?" asked the voice again.

"Darth Vader" David replied again with a baritone voice.

"Whatever, but I don't trust you so I will have to search you." said the voice while opening the gate. To his surprise, he met with the barrel of a sniper rifle a few inches from his forehead instead of a person. "I find your lack of faith disturbing." David replied before pressing the trigger.

BAAM!
