What if...

During his four hours of waiting, Axel somehow fell asleep on the bed beside Hannah. This was the longest sleep he's had in two years and the next time he opened his eyes was because of the loud thud that sounded in the room.

He drowsily opened his eyes and his ears picked up the sound of someone whimpering. He almost flew off the bed but stopped when he saw Hannah sitting on the floor and holding her ankle. 

For someone who has waited two years to see something like this again, Axel was extremely calm. Instead of jumping on her and hugging her like he had imagined several times, Axel was completely still. 

Now that it was happening,  he didn't know how to respond. It was as though his senses had ignored him leaving him completely useless. 

When Hannah raised her eyes to meet his, Axel stopped breathing. His brown eyes shrunk as he looked into those obsidian that were curious and confused.
