10 The Act Of Defiance

"Let one live, to inform the village chief!"

The old man's deep voice fell on Orion's ears.

Silence!

Orion gazed at the old man for a few seconds and calculated in his mind.

Thud!

He threw the body of the lackey and gestured to the old man to bring the consciousness of the lackey back.

"Let me go! If you dare to even touch me, the village chief would kill all of you,"

Necker's whole body was twisting due to intense nervousness, it was clear he would be the first sheep to be sacrificed in the name of justice.

"You are stating that the village chief would kill all of us because we are seeking justice?"

A wicked grin flashed across Orion's face, revealing a set of perfectly white teeth that seemed to glimmer like polished ivory in the moon's dim light.

The expression presented him as the devil himself, with a mischievous glint in his eye and a malevolent curl to his lips that suggested he had won this battle.

Necker's whole mind was in turmoil, blanked without any ideas to evacuate out of this terrible situation created by the young man.

Orion did not give him any more chances to think as he advanced towards Necker.

"I was wrong! Please, spare me, everyone, I would work in your field for the next six months for whatever I have done,"

Necker fell on his knee and protested on the ground attempting to bring out a bit of mercy from the heart of these villagers.

The people at the sight hesitated momentarily by listening to this offer.

"It does not matter Necker, I would distribute all these supplies to my fellow villagers, by doing that they would not have to work for the next six months,"

Orion counter-attacked his suggestion leaving him with no option.

Necker's tensed muscles tensed even further, leaving the sight with a good speed.

"Don't let him slip away!"

The old man cried out.

Orion left the sight with terrifying speed while a shocked expression appeared on Angelica's face.

"How did he become so agile?"

She had not watched the battle between him versus the bullies, and though she could hear their screams, it was still a big surprise to see inhumane speed.

"Why the fuck you are so insistent on killing me? All I did was to steal some money from you,"

Necker's face which was red due to intense running roared in anger.

"Why should I tell you?"

Orion annoyed him using his words.

"If I escaped this predicament, I would butcher you and that bitch,"

Necker had gone mad as he took the dangerous path leading to the unknown.

"That would depend if you can escape from me,"

Orion stopped playing with him.

Kacha!

He arrived behind Necker in no time and instantly took out his heart.

"I told you that I would show you my wrath soon, Necker. Are you happy now to witness it?"

At this time, Necker was confused instead of being scared. He did not know why Orion did not kill him despite being able to do that anytime.

Thud!

Necker fell on the ground with open eyes while Orion put his heart in the pocket.

This was the reason why he did not kill him before everyone as they would get suspicious of why he took the heart of Necker.

He slowly sorted out everything, put Necker's body on his shoulder, and advanced towards the village.

In the home of the village chief,

"How did you sort out the distribution list, son?"

The village chief sat on the chair staring at his eldest son, Damien.

He had a bit of hope in his eldest son because of his upbringing in the city, but recently Damien became like his second son Zeph who delved into lust and hunger.

"It was not so difficult father, I decreased the amount of meat for the people who do not have any guardians or any man in their family, and saved even more resources for ourselves,"

Damien's face looked full of pride as if he had achieved something huge.

Dinah sighed and shook his head. It was the second time he handed over this task to Damien but found Damien becoming even more stupid day by day.

"Never mind, he may become better after some time will pass,"

He hoped in his heart and questioned another thing.

"What about that girl, Angelica? You did not cause her any trouble, right? I have strictly warned you and your brother to study more and look for an opportunity to learn cultivation from your teacher in the city,"

Damien's face froze after hearing this and did not say anything for a long time since he had already sent Zeph to bring Angelica by force or using other tactics.
