Chapter 8 Lin Ruoxi

"Wait"

The beautiful woman got out of the car and followed him. She tried to stop him, but he walked very fast. 

She called out to him, her voice filled with urgency, but he didn't seem to hear. Desperate to catch up, she quickened her pace, hoping he would eventually turn around and wait for her.

Yang Chen heard her clearly, but he didn't want to stop, but he felt his heart tighten for some reason.

'What the---My heart hurts'

Yang Chen couldn't understand why his heart was suddenly hurting. But he stopped, and the woman could catch up to him.

"Please come with me."

The woman spoke in a pleading tone, her eyes filled with worry. There must be something weighing heavily on her heart. Yang Chen wanted to say no again, but

'Okay, okay, I understand. Stop squeezing my heart, damn it!'

"Alright. I will come with you."

The woman looked at him. She didn't think after he rejected her so resolutely. He would agree again easily, like this.

She was relieved that he had finally agreed, but she couldn't help but wonder what had caused his initial hesitation.

Yang Chen then got in her car and didn't say anything to her at all. She couldn't help but think, shouldn't it be her to act like that?

Without saying anything either. The woman stepped on the accelerator, and the car quickly left the police station.

After about 10 minutes later, they stopped at a coffee shop near west region's public square.

Walking past the gigantic fountain, Yang Chen followed the silent lady into the coffee shop; apparently, a small private room had already been booked. Following the waiter, the two were guided to a corner of the secluded 2nd-story. Several large plants were set in the surroundings, giving the place a beautifully tranquil and secluded feel.

"Miss Lin, Mister, what would the two of you like to drink?" 

The courteous male waiter smiled and asked.

It seemed that she was a regular customer, taking off her sunglasses, revealing that countenance that could lead a majority of men's blood to flow, the lady surnamed Lin indifferently said. 

"Blue mountain, add milk, no sugar."

Yang Chen flipped and turned the menu, creased his brows in thought, then smiled and said

"You're going to pay for me right?"

He asked directly without any hesitation. It was she who invited him, and he had helped her before, so it should be her turn to return the little favor.

The woman nodded indifferently.

"Then give me the same thing as her, with two sugar cubes and milk."

After that, the waiter went to place their orders for them. As they waited for their drinks, Yang Chen leaned back in his chair and casually asked. 

"So, what brings you to me? I didn't think you would want to see me again after you left me this morning. And tell me your name. You might already know my name. Otherwise, Lawyer Zhang wouldn't come and bail me out."

Yang Chen asked straight to the point, not beating around the bush.

The woman looked at Yang Chen coldly. It looked like she still thought that he had r*ped her.

'Why can't you just check down there? Woman!'

"I don't have the free time to speak such nonsense with you, right now, I have something to discuss with you."

Yang Chen was speechless. He then shook his head and chuckled. This was too much for him. He couldn't believe that she would treat him like this.

"Bullshit, Don't tell me that you still think that I r*pe you. If you still think like that, I have to say that you are really stupid. I didn't do anything to you at all last night, and you didn't even wait to listen to me. You can go and check your body, so you will know that I didn't do anything. What a waste of time."

Yang Chen stood up from the sofa. He towered over her, his voice dripping with disdain. 

"I have no interest in wasting any more of my precious time on you. Why should I think helping you last night was a good idea?"

He didn't want to have anything to do with her anymore. Even though his heart hurt, he could stop it at any time. He just came with her because he wanted to know what she wanted to do with him.

And as he was about to leave, she reached out and grabbed his arm, her eyes filled with desperation. 

"What is it now?"

"I-I know that you didn't do anything to me last night, but I don't know how to speak with a man."

"Huh?"

"Lin Ruoxi, my name is Lin Ruoxi, the Ruo from Ruruo(as if), the Xi from Xishui(stream of water)..."

"....."

"I apologize but I have something very important to speak with you. Can you please at least listen to me."
