-Chapter 69-

I watched the last few fights closely, and as if it was written, the two remaining fighters were the spearman and the giant, who was of a size similar to Gregor Clegane.

They faced each other, and instantly, it plunged me back into memories of the fight from the GOT series between the Red Viper and the Mountain.

They sized each other up calmly while making sure to recover their stamina by slowing down the pace of the fight, which had been very demanding for them since they had each killed at least a dozen people.

Then suddenly, they launched into the long-awaited fight by everyone.

I smiled seeing the spearman winning; he was using the same tactic as Oberyn, which consisted of always keeping a certain distance from his opponent while pushing him to exhaust himself by swinging his weapon in all directions.

I didn't want Viserys to lose, but I wanted him to realize he wasn't the smartest, to understand he was alone and that I was his only reference point.

Essentially, I was training him, and for that, I needed both a carrot and a stick.

The best part of this story was that I didn't even need to be the stick; my Dornish brother would take care of it in my stead.

I just had to show Viserys that I was the only trustworthy person in his life and that he could only trust me.

As the fight progressed, Viserys' champion grew more exhausted, and everyone could see the outcome of the fight. Viserys' face became increasingly tense as the climax approached.

Suddenly, the Giant lost his balance, and the spearman took the opportunity to attack the giant's throat.

I moved my hand slightly, and the spear deviated from its path, grazing the giant's cheek, who then took the opportunity to drop his weapons and pounce on the spearman, caught off guard and powerless.

The giant positioned himself above the spearman and beat him until the Spearman was nothing but a bloody mess, and I smiled seeing Oberyn's gaze pierce mine.

'For an experienced spearman like him, connecting the dots isn't hard, but even so, who could directly accuse me of cheating?'

I nodded at Bronn, who had also noticed the trickery, and as a good and loyal servant, he stepped forward to quench Viserys' joy, which was practically bouncing like a child.

He looked at me confused, and then after I nodded at him, he sat back down, his expression denser but still joyful.

-POV Oberyn Martell-

"This is nonsense, how could it miss its trajectory from such a short distance?" said Obara, unable to understand how the spearman could lose.

No one had noticed, but I inadvertently saw him raise his hand just as the spearman tried to thrust his spear into the giant's throat.

No one had noticed, but I now knew that betting or even requesting a trial by combat would be extremely risky if he could manipulate a fight without anyone realizing it with a simple gesture of his hand.

Arianne kept staring at me, so I said, "What is it, my dear niece?"

"I saw that..." said Arianne.

"Then be quiet and say nothing," said Oberyn.

"I had no intention of doing so; it would ruin all the chances I have with him."

I rolled my eyes, knowing perfectly well why Arianne was hardly considered to become the future queen, and then I said, "Save your efforts, you should focus on Aegon."

"A Targaryen with blue eyes," she said sarcastically.

I turned my head, furious at her insinuations, and said, "The King is a Targaryen with gray eyes and black hair; hair and eye color mean nothing."

"If you say so, my uncle," said Arianne, who was having less and less trouble hiding her growing aversion towards her suitor, who hoped to fully rally Dorne to his cause once a matrimonial alliance was sealed.
