8 Survive the Unabī

As the harrowing event continued, the three encountered a giant beast that awoke from slumber.

"That's the Unabī!?" Lusina asked in panic as all three ran away from the giant beast who spotted them three.

"I guess so. I've never seen that kind of beast, not even ever seen it that huge. It must've been some kind of giant. Ever heard of a fairytale called The Gentle Giant Named Lotus ?" Mika claimed that the beast behind them, the Unabī, was one of the beasts from a fairytale named The Gentle Giant Named Lotus.

Mika went into great detail to describe the plot of the narrative, which involved a community of giants. They led a fierce, combative lifestyle akin to the Vikings. They often start colonization in their quest for treasure. The giant Lotus was an exception, though. He loved nature and didn't want to rule anything. The beasts appeared to be included in the community of giants, making them larger than other common species. That was why Mika compared the creature to a fairytale he had read.

"So, this silly fairytale is what causes the animal to become so big?" Lusina hadn't heard about the story and she asked.

"Not really, ask the author. Either it was adaptability or birth from ancient history. Heck, I don't even have a lot of knowledge about ancient history. Logically speaking, if the oxygen level is very high it extends growth on animals." Mika never knew how they became so ginormous, in fact, ancient histories were fairly rare to find and to know of, it also very costly.

"From the trees, I believe we're now in the Tiger Frog's den. Giganteus Hoplobatrachus Tigerinus, is quite big and very aggressive, in short, they are dangerous. Don't let their tongue touch you; it contains those pesky acidic chemicals that will shred your skin off." Mika gave a warning before meeting with the frogs.

As they drew nearer to the woodland, the Tiger Frogs came out from all sides. They resembled Frogs in appearance, although they were much larger than typical. They drip acidic saliva and have red patches all over their bodies, the one thing very noticable about them that they had the color of a tiger skin and whiskers. As Mika had stated, they needed to exercise caution around their tongues in particular because of saliva.

They seemed uninterested in their arrival because they were in a state of alert and rushed to safety.

Mika forethought how to deal with the giant wolf without thinking rashly.

"The onus is on me. I have no choice then!" At last, Mika figured out a way. Being sure-fire that this would work, Mika turned around to look behind.

"I'm short of options but I have one and it's a contingency plan!" Mika was coerced into this mess and had to use his contingency plan to make this work out.

Mika eventually let out his bow and arrow and then aimed it with an electric charge.

"I have a special move but it'll take time for me to use it." Mika believed this was the only way and had to use his special move to get it done.

"Shouldn't you be using that when after we escaped?" Lusina needed a legitimate answer as to why he didn't use it against the tribes prior to their escape.

"It's a heavily charged technique; if my concentration is interrupted, it will go awry. My estimation of how long it's fully charged will be around 2 minutes. Very long I'd say in our current condition..." Mika estimated it would take longer than they thought for it to be ready. Sougo listened well and rode the horse at full speed.

Each second, the inscrutable force from the tip of the arrow changed into a sphere ball while gradually increasing its volume. With a spark of lightning let out, the intense energy could be felt strongly by Lusina.

"Lagnaräz!" With 2 minutes passing, Mika spoke a chant and the energy Mika recently emitted was shrunk down.

Mika directed the highly charged energy at the enormous creature. It nearly hit it, but it avoided hitting it.

"Heh, I should've known you dodged it. But you're underestimating the wrong projectile... It's inescapable!"

From over the enormous wolf, the arrow reversed course and landed violently on the earth. The area was destroyed as a result of the arrow's tremendous explosion, which was around 100 meters wide.

"Brace for impact!" Mika alerted the whole gang about the aftermath of his recent power.

The massive shockwave from the explosion, blew them away sky-high and so were the trees near them. Like a cyclone, the strong winds flew them far and landed on a few hundred meters.

"Ugh, it took a lot more than I thought." Mika overly exerted himself in using the destructive power, squandering a lot of energy from that devastating arrow.

"Was that... advanced magic?!" Lusina, with mouth agape and entirely speechless of the massive destructive force Mika had unleashed, questioned what level was the magic and assumed it was advanced.

"Even if I'm efficient in utilizing lightning or electricity whatever you call it, it ain't easy. I can only use it twice a day before I pass out from exhaustion. So yeah, you can say it was advanced."

"But what is Lagnaräz? Was that a skill of yours?" Lusina was concerned about the chant he had spoken and it was" Lagnaräz" which she had no clue what kind of spell it was.

"Well, not really. It's a spell that I had to rely solely on my own perseverance to develop the technique. You could say that my inspiration came from a fire magic, specifically the awe-inspiring "Phoenix Arrow." The fusion of Lagnaräz and a weapon is something that is not commonly considered."

Mika clarified that Lagnaräz was essentially a vocal incantation used to control and contain the energy, preventing it from prematurely detonating or dispersing.

"It seems I may come across as overly studious or bookish when discussing such matters. Heh, sorry, I meant to say I sound like a nerd."

"!" Sougo's eyes widened at something which he saw a giant crater after the smoke cleared.

"We are not done! Hurry, run!" Sougo saw the beast was still standing despite being heavily injured after the explosion.

Both Mika and Lusina were aghast by how the creature survived the massive explosion that should have incinerated it.

Mika and Lusina both were grabbed by the clothing by Sougo who ran very swiftly, risking the horse by leaving it behind for their safe return.

"Magriyu!" Mika shouted his horse's name.

"Mika! Are there any more ways you can kill it?!" Lusina asked for Mika's suggestions but he was running out of options. He disallowed using the technique once more because of how close the giant wolf was. Nevertheless, if he used it now, there were chances they would get caught by the explosion and die silly.

"Ah! I got just a thing! I will use one technique in my arsenal. It's a tough one and it can't ricochet nor it can home at its target. One thing for certain, it'll exhaust the hell out of me." Mika confidently come up with a plan that could work and it was to use another technique he had in store for him.

However, it had a longer charging time than the most current one, lasting at most 5 minutes. The only side effects were weariness and a full five hours of paralysis.

"Mister?" Sougo put Mika and Lusina down suddenly.

"Do not waste this time that I will be lending you! Prepare your strike and I shall assist you with what I can!" With confidence in Mika, Sougo said. He then turned to face the front while unsheathing his blade.

Mika's eyes widened in awe as he was completely felt touched by his words of trust.

"I'll leave it to you..." Mika placed his trust in Sougo.

"..." Sougo gazed behind him while he was facing the front.

"Roger!" Message received, Sougo firmly grasped his katana and confront the beast to buy Mika some time.

Mika smiled and aid him with some of his magic. He used his lightning magic and transferred it to his blade and now his blade sparked with lightning, becoming more powerful and light.

"Listen well, Lusina! What I'm about to do is give you one of my plant magic chants. With your magic staff, I believe it'll conserve me some time to unleash it. Listen carefully!"

Lusina nodded.

"A'lmas lillyas velcia, regnárckkoūmn visnoviccik. Laturé'ezan." Mika gave his spell over to Lusina for her to cast it. Mika explained the uses of this spell and that it would summon a giant flower and it let out gas to imbalance one's mind, thinking the world was spinning, concisely speaking, making them delusional.

Over time, Mika's arrow powered up each second of his charging and it was extremely much fiercer than it was before. The charging only lasted 5 minutes but had much greater power and destructive force than that of his previous one by a larger scale.

After listening to Mika's chant spell, Lusina repeated the chant and cast it with her staff directly beneath the wolf's feet.

Roots burst out from the ground up to 5 roots with sacks in every spot. The sack burst, letting out gas to lure the beast into delusion.

As soon as Sougo had the chance, he took advantage of it and dispatched the enormous wolf, buying Mika some extra time. Sougo's confidence was reinforced by the completely coated lightning on his blade, and he moved forward fearlessly without worrying about failure. Though it may not be much and was just a magic enhancer, Sougo could feel his blade getting lighter to wield, thus, increasing his speed by a mile.

Sougo's speed was marvelously unmatched by that of a typical human being; in the course of one second, he traveled about 70 meters. His velocity increased as he ran faster, so he sprang directly to its head. Because it could not see clearly, the wolf was confused and stand on motionless. Partially aware of Sougo's appearance, Sougo stabbed the beast right in the eye with a thrust from his blade.

The beast screamed aloud whilst Mika hold out unflinching, concentrating on the charge of his energy.

"Ugh!" Mika looked to be quite anxious while he aimed. As 2 minutes had passed, Lusina did notice something that was bothering Mika the entire time she was beside him. He was sweating quite a lot and he wasn't fidgeting because of the high-wasting mana output he had unleashed.

'Three minutes left... Hang in there, mister...' Mika was exhausted that left his right eye to be closed while staggering as he held his bow.

Sougo had been dodging the beast's blind attacks and each of them was life-threatening. Had its claws hit him, he would've been either deceased with a remarkably large wound in his whole body or shredded his whole body apart like paper.

After saving time for Mika's attack to be charged fully, he stated that it was ready to launch.

Unfortunately, the wolf was moving too fast for him to aim, and with great doubts that landing one hit would be possible.

His confidence in his great power soon struck down and he no longer had the courage to shoot.

Soon after, Sougo realized directly in his eyes doubtlessly he was inexperienced under this circumstance. Sougo made a quick move by impaling one of the beast's legs before moving on to its head.

Mika gulped as his sweat fell from his face.

Sougo gave it a deep stabbing in the eyes to blind it; however, Mika seemed hesitant.

"If I missed, he would die, and I can't focus."

As the Unabī was trying to remove Sougo from its head, Sougo yelled, "Hey! Take a deep breath and forget about anything around you. Your main focus is this thing! Don't let any hindrance get to you!"

"Yes, sir." Motivated, Mika focused solely on the Unabī and took Sougo's remarks to heart.

"Rigura!" The string was finally freed from his fingers, allowing the powerfully charged arrow to be shot. Like a light beam, the arrow's flight was straight-lined.

The powerful arrow then made its way to its head, piercing its skull. The power was so great that it burned its brain and exploded the entire interior of its head. Sougo luckily moved away before the arrow hit him along with the Unabī.

"We did it..." Mika was in poor condition, evidently from his entire body. He staggered so much he couldn't stand, thus, he fainted.

After finally, the uncontrollable beast had been put down by Mika assisted by his friends.
